Van Gaal and Giggsy did a Q&A dinner tonight. Van Gaal said "Don't worry - WE WILL WIN on Saturday."

Quite the bold prediction there, but I believe him. He seems to have the scousers number.

Probably had a few wines down him aswell.

Now there a comment to fall flat on your face if I ever seen one.

I don't think Van Gaal quiet gets the premier league.

If he knew anything about United and Liverpool's history he'd know this is exactly the kind of statements that puts fire in the players belly and makes them play out of their skins to prove a point. Liverpool players will be up for this on Saturday if the media prints these quotes

Wilson off on loan according to reports

That leaves us with a misfiring (for us anyway) Rooney as our only established centre forward.....

Crazy management and a knock to Rooney and we are watching hoof ball in this and many other games with Fellaini leading the line

that last game though against a powerful, fast attacker... he struggled badly - I worry about him vrs Benteke who normally does well against us

watch a clip of that second goal last week and how easily Gomis escaped him.....he did it a number of times

the only thing that diverted attention from how bad Blind defended in that instance for the 2nd goal was Romero's goalkeeping
I agree with this post even though Benteke is sort of a different animal if we compare him with Gomis. He's slower and doesn't offer the same energy that Gomis offers. From the last games, I have also noticed Benteke at Liverpool usually drops deeper than Gomis hence that would be a bit difficult for him to single out Blind. Starting Blind would be a huge risk but I would give him the benefit of the doubt here.

God i hope we win this one

The 90 minutes I look forward to the most but it's still the worst 90 minutes of viewing of the season.

United will stifle them and win 2 or 3-1.
Liverpool always let emotion overwhelm them in this fixture and commit stupid errors and I can see United profiting handsomely.

Liverpool lacking in players who know the importance of the fixture, can't see them being up for it as much as we will/should be. Get the first goal and I can see this being a stroll for us. 2-1 United.

I still can't believe how last seasons game at Anfield worked out brilliantly for United. A win, 2 suspensions for key players (Skrtel and Gerrard) and an injury setback to Sturridge. Utter Joke , If one of you lot could have written the script for that match that's how it would have played out. Except probably more goals/suspensions...

Would bite your hand off for a draw right now. No club football for two weeks, followed by an away game against our biggest rivals, with our best player suspended? If we had Cou, I'd be countless times more positive, but damn.

Yeah, no. If we get anything from this game, I'll be chuffed.

I hope we set up like this...

    Mignolet
    Clyne Skrtel Sakho Gomez
    Lucas
    Hendo Milner
    Lallana
    Ings Benteke

Can laugh at our back four if you want, but that's the happiest I've been with it in years

Not that bad of a defence really, it's pretty solid if you don't play Lovren. God I hope Lovren starts

It's Rodgers. We'll have Lovren at CB, no specialist holding midfielder on the field, and a winger playing as a second striker. Don't worry about it.

Balotelli is on loan at Milan, isn't he? Gomez has been impressive imo, Clyne is solid and Skrtel is a cnut.

I did  Been playing Fifa 15, so still on last years squad in a way.

Not sure LvG will risk De Gea for his first game against one of their direct rivals. In a game where even a draw will be a loss. He'll have to go with his match sharp (i.e. had a few games recently) players.

For those picking Henderson, he has not trained so will not be playing. Unfortunately Lovren didn't pick up any injuries internationally. :(

Why is the Liverpool thread locked in the Football Forum? If a mod could please take a look. I was going to update that Sturridge is in full training with the first team after his hip root cause treatment in the USA for the last few months. Won't play on Saturday but just letting everyone know. :D

Oh and my lineup for Sat (not one I want because it has Lovren in):

    Mig,
    Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Gomez
    -----Lucas
    Milner-----Can
    ----Firmino
    Ings Benteteteteke

Edit: for a full explanation why:
Our fullbacks are unlikely to join the attack. Gomez did against West Ham and it left Lovren woefully exposed. Keep Gomez back and invite Darmian forward to join Mata. Which we know LvG doesn't like to do. No Darmian then Mata has to do it on his own while Gomez ensures Mata has no free shots at open goals which Moreno kindly obliged last season.

Clyne will be busier as Shaw does like to get forward (did it well with England). Ings will make the most of the space he leaves while Benteke is dry humping Blind. Memphis ain't great at covering back as we've seen. Ings will basically do the Ayew role in a diamond which Swansea played so well. Milner and Can are basically just covering defensively while Utd reach 70% possession.
