I'm fairly calm. Aside from a game raising spectacle from the cnuts, we're the superior team and should be winning this without too much hassle. We have also had their number in recent meetings.
I really don't see how this is the general consensus around the camp.

I'm not dreading Liverpool or anything, but the confidence that some people have is really strange considering both clubs are exactly in the same spot. 2 wins, a draw and a loss for both. The "on paper we're the better team" tripe some people throw around really doesn't cut it for me. Yes, on paper we have a superior squad, but performance wise - the only statistic that actually matters - we've been no better or worse than Liverpool since the season's start.

In fact the one main thing that has me a bit worried is that they got trashed 3-0 at home by West Ham. Sure, their confidence is shot, but I'd much rather have played them before that fixture rather than after. Now they know something is seriously wrong with their squad and will work on changing it. Meanwhile we're still laboring under the illusion that everything's fine.

That's a good honest summation actually. Rodgers has to win, or at least avoid defeat now, whereas before he would have sold a defeat like it didn't matter in the long run.

Will the heat be turned up on LVG if we don't get a result in this one? I can't help but think (I could be wrong) that things are getting close to a tipping point with our shit style of play, shit transfer window with very suspect decisions and our fan base being on edge.
what ? shit transfer window, please it was one of the best for years.

So to summarise, you think we'll either win, lose or draw?

We just need to win this...any win against that shower of cnuts is good enough for me...

The best kind of win would be a fecking right good hiding, but I'd take a last minute offside goal, our only shot on goal all day, having been shit all game, hanging on by the skin of our teeth...

    We just need to win...

Well if you want to be that simplistic, yes. But to accurately summarise you would say I think we will perform really well and win, or struggle and lose (maybe draw).

I wouldn't be satisfied with a poor performance and stealing a win. I am passed that by this point. I would like to see some progression and perform like we did against the good teams last season.

    :lol::lol:
Because Michael Oliver is refereeing and we are expecting him to give a red card for sneezing too close to him.

I fecking hate that little prick.

If ever there was a clear case of someone devoting their life to get into a position of power because they were bullied at school it's him.

The fact he's targeting the sporty ones who probably bullied him just makes it even more obvious.

I hope Memphis gives him an atomic wedgie and Shaw steals his lunch money.

An asbolute win for this one. Even a poor game, three suspended, 4 injured, and ten girls on the pitch, we have to win this game no matter what.

I think that we showed this season, except 10 minutes at Swansea that we can be vey difficult to break, the only fear I have is that our main mens should produce for this game. Againt Swansea or Newcastle, neither Mata, Wazza or Depay produced enough and that's why we were beaten or lost points.

If we don't score and don't create opportunities, it will be always tougher.

I hope that we'll be up for the battle, but especially we can rise the tempo to beat them. Last year we played them twice and beat them twice because we were sharper, faster and had a higher tempo in the match. Just remember how Herrera played at Juanfield or how Mata dictated the game at home.

We need to be be cautious, but need especially to be faster, a bit like what we didi the first 30 mins at Swansea or Newcastle.

I see this Liverpool side as a well organized team and very powerful with huge bodies. Technic and speed will be the solution against them.

Forget the MNF love-in … we want more of this:

Of all games for De Gea to come back in goal for, it's this one? For fecks sake. He'll probably save everything that comes near him like he did last season .

    Game on.

Police must be livid that this is a 5:30 kick off, there are going to be thousands of punch drunk fans just wanting it. Can see lots of unsavory songs and a higher level of hostility than normal, maybe FA Cup 99 style.

Though results for these teams are similar so far this season, I do feel that Liverpool's performances as a team have been a lot worse than ours. They have probably had a 25-30 minutes period in each game where they looked like a team. So they are still getting used to each other. We are not playing high enough tempo yet, but we are still looking like a team where Schweinie and Darmian in particular have just slotted in.

I think our defense is pretty solid, yet theirs is pretty flaky, midfields are going to cancel each other out - but we get a moral victory for having more possession ;) and I just don't see any threat from the Liverpool or United attacks. Liverpool have less threat than last year - because Sterling speed was always a worry, United just haven't got it together up front.

So I fancy - very optimistically - Rooney to actually turn up this year and play a blinder, 2-0 at HT, 3-1 FT. Also, ref will bottle a few decisions - either way - a maybe one sending off late in the game for a second yellow.

Obviously I want Herrera to play every game, but I just can't shake the feeling that Fellaini would dominate pool once again. Cause I don't believe Rodgers have figured it out. Therefore, just for this match, start fella in the hole bethind Roon

Tricky team selection, I've gone with De Gea though. Also, as BS won't last the full 90, I pushed Blind forward and given Rojo his first appearance of the season.

he just played the full 90 for Germany so maybe we are being too sensitive about him - I'd certainly start him

    Mata---------------------------------Herrera--------------------------------Depay
    -----------------------------------Rooney---------------------------------------------

subs: Romero, Blind, Martial, Periera, Mc Nair, Young, Fellaini

Christ its hard to get a bench with the amount of sales.....really hope Blind doesn't start this as Benteke could bully him and give him major problems like Gomis did

I hate the idea of such a big game coming right after the international break with little to no build up to it. Luckily no more injuries to contend with other than Carrick. I'd be tempted to go a bit more offensive here.

    deGea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
    Schneiderlin
    Mata Herrera Fellaini Young
    Rooney

Let's start the obligatory trip down memory lane...

Be great to get a result like this on Saturday.

Hopefully this isnt just another boring low-key poor United performance and Liverpool bring the best out of us.

No way we he drop Blind , he has started the season very well.

Surprisingly confident going into this game, I honestly can't see them breaking our defense or midfield down. 3-0 United.

Really hope we can win this, both teams have started slowly, let's hope we can win and kick-start our season!

that last game though against a powerful, fast attacker... he struggled badly - I'd worry about him vrs Benteke who normally does well against us

watch a clip of that second goal last week and how easily Gomis escaped him.....he did it a number of times

the only thing that diverted attention from how bad Blind defended in that instance for the 2nd goal was Romero's goalkeeping

You make very good points and I can sort of agree with you.
Just dont think LVG will drop him.
