I said on the day the Wilson loan news broke that it was a stupid decision, the recall clause is only for a long term injury and you can't call him back if Rooney gets injured on a Friday (little did I know that it would happen on the Friday before the biggest game of the season). Pretty obvious now that it will be Fellaini up top with Memphis, Herrera and Mata behind him

Wilson hasn't gone anywhere yet as far as I know.

Carrick is fit, Rooney might be too.
Carrick definitely fit, I thought he got ruled out during the week?

If Rooney wasn't at the hotel and it's a hamstring, doubt he'll play. Need change my lineup predictions for Carrick now, cheers.

Yeah but he also wasn't with the squad it seems, a hamstring injury could be a few weeks which should definitely stop this loan for now imo

I dunno Wilson needs games and he'll get that in the championship, I'm sure the recall clause is instant if we need him at some point.

LvG will have factored in injuries to key players, much as we might not agree but he probably sees Fellaini as Rooney's backup until Martial has settled in, there is also Depay who couid easily play up top.

So Wilson is still probably 3-4 th choice for just the one position in the team, in which case it's best he's loaned now.

From the Daily Mail: United’s players practised lumping long balls up to Fellaini for Herrera, plus wide men Memphis Depay and Juan Mata to feed off the knock downs on Friday.

To be honest that's an easy game plan to defend against. I would rather take a risk and start Martial if he's fit.

Sounds like Big Sam's phlosophy.Hope it's more than that.

christ our tactics and training methods leave alot to be desired. And people are on here actually stating SAF's tactics were dinosaur.

Well lets hope my dream doesn't come true. Boring 0-0

Liverpool scored with 3 minutes left but was called for offside
Dying moments Martial makes a killer pass to Wilson, but the angle being so difficult, means the chip over the on coming keeper goes just wide

Liverpool conceded three at home to West Ham and are without their only source of creativity. We lost our last game, struggled to score goals and are without our main striker. Have a feeling this isn't going to be easy on the eye. They'll be delighted with a point and we'll struggle to break down the parked bus.

Our lump should be better at this lark than your lump. We might sneak a point here.

    De Gea
    Darm Small Bling Shaw
    Carrick Schneiderlin
    Mata Fellaini Young
    Depay

Subs : Romero , Valencia , Herrera ,Martial , Rojo ,Lingard , Mcnair

I'd be happy to see Depay up front and Young on the left. Young can beat defenders and offer us a great outlet on the counter. Depay's still adjusting and needs a goal in the league to spur him on. He seems to dwell on misses/mistakes and certainly in the league so far struggle to get involved.

Have a good feeling Rooney will not start this. Just don't know whether to start Fellaini or Wilson. Depay starting up front is not out of the question either. Match lineup predictions will be tricky...

It worked really well against Liverpool last season at Anfield. Fellaini gave us an out ball and we totally dominated the game.

Sending the ball long to Fellaini isn't a 50:50 ball. Its more like 90:10 when the ball is sent to him at chest height. We wont be sending it long all the time either. We will have the likes of Herrera(if he starts :nervous:) sending in passes like his one to Mata for the first goal at Anfield last season.

Whats this lowry thing? Is it a hotel? Also I am surprised the team meets at a hotel even before home games. I just thought those guys might be directly going to the stadium on matchdays a few hours before the match. Guess this is what happens when you live in a small city without any sports team around. :(
    Its by the stadium.

OH gosh the Mail. True then.

At Anfield he was more orthodox in midfield though. Didn't really venture to their penalty box but dominated their boys in midfield.

It'll be a different test as the focal point where he'll probably be told to hold his position rather than drop deep and get involved and LFC will stick a couple of men on him. Could open space up for Mata/Depay but he's more likely to be nullified in the 9 role.

Headed out in a few hours for a few beers before the game. My confidence has turned into panic this morning.

Just want to see De Gea starting, hopefully.

For some reason this morning my head says 0-0.

I have a feeling as we are at home we will play somebody in front of him.

    Predicted Score: Man Utd 2

There is nothing wrong with playing high balls to Felleini. If we can't do that then what's he doing on the pitch. The players are good enough to find other ways to score. But who in Gods earth is running to the papers about what we've practiced? Assuming it's true of course.

I reckon we need Rojo to come in for Blind since it's going to be a physical game with Benteke.

Same formation as our last match vs Liverpool but Depay Lw Mata Rw Martial St Herrera Fellani cm Morgan cdm

Who could've predicted this would happen eh?

Yep, most people on here raised the worry. Almost like Van Gaal thought he'd ignore that Rooney always misses a few games and would somehow manage to play even more, despite having no competition

what would be really interesting, if we absolutely rampage Liverpool without Rooney. Might it give him new thinking, like it did when VP was out and we suddenly cracked it for a limited time

It can be predicted pretty much, we already have a shortage in this position and it's not hard to be predicted that Rooney can be injured at any time of the season, no?

Rooney's record v Liverpool at home is only 4 in 12 so he wouldn't be a huge loss IMO. He's generally crap against Liverpool and Everton for whatever reason.

And suddenly we have no strikers to play.

Well we have one senior striker in our whole squad so it was bound to happen. Martial should play, he is new but he has been in good form this season and can jump straight in, but it will be Fellaini and hoof ball.
