I was clearly talking about his price. I can't believe you just did that lol, too much time on your hands man.
To be fair to @dwd it takes like 10 seconds to search for any given user's posts within any given thread and then click the +Quote on them all... :smirk:

Has Martial even had one training session with his new teammates? Can't see LVG starting him just yet. Wilson it is.

@RonaldoVII I think Wilson is still with us. According to a Bleacher Report article from today (well, Friday), he hasn't been loaned anywhere yet and even if he was, LVG says that he could be recalled (I think this quote was a response to a question re: Januzaj):
It is the same thing that I have said to James Wilson. I have said the same thing, only James has to go to a Championship club, so then I can call him back if my striker is injured. Then we need him and then he would have more playing time.

But for Wilson, another year in the same way as last year is not good for his development. It is not good for Januzaj either. This is why we let players go on loan and we don't sell, because we believe in the quality of Januzaj and in the quality of Wilson.

He should definitely be available in that case unless something weird and awkward was agreed in any unannounced loan deal.

If I was a betting man (I'm not), I'd say Fellaini to start with Martial and Wilson on the bench with Martial not being used yet. I'd prefer to see Wilson starting and Fellaini coming on late in the match. Even I wouldn't use Martial yet. This is LVG though so he could just say "F**k it" and play 3-5-1 with Blind up top and Martial as a left wing back and captain.

If Fellaini starts at least we will get to see him play without having the midfield hit long punts from deep at him.

If Rooney isn't at the hotel with the team, then he's 100% out.

It'll be fellaini, but I wouldn't be surprised to see martial play vs PSV. He'll probably be subbed on tomorrow as well. I think the players got back to training on Thursday so he's had 2 training sessions probably. Nowhere near enough to start vs Liverpool.

Wilson's still with us but wasn't seen at the hotel so will most likely be Fellaini up front with Martial on the bench. I'm leaning towards Carrick starting over Schweinsteiger, with him being the vice captain and playing well in the two wins over Liverpool last season.

    Fellaini
    Memphis Herrera Mata
    Schneiderlin Carrick
    Shaw Blind Smalling Darmian
    De Gea

Romero, McNair, Rojo, Valencia, Schweinsteiger, Young, Martial

Problem being that there aren't really many game changers on the bench.

Feels weird to have Fellaini up top, our lack of strikers is starting to show already. Hopefully Martial does something special tomorrow.

Its probably been said a ton already but Fellaini as our striker is just stupid. We might get lucky and have it pay if in a game but its a serious waste of his playing talents.

It's ideal for his talents if he's a second striker.

Question is, who would accompany him in this case?

No Rooney is a bit of a nightmare. Diabolical club form or not, in a game like this you don't underestimate the attributes a player like him can bring. Fellaini will provide a battle I'm far less confident of being effective in. If Skrtel can match him physically (which I'm highly unsure of, tbf) then he brings little else as an attacking option. My feelings towards relying on Martial, I'm sure like pretty much everyone else, to seize an occasion like this and not end up feeling completely lost are just that.

It'll take a midfield masterclass, something we are wholly capable of no doubt, to overcome our glaring deficiencies up top should the rumours of Rooney being injured come to fruition. We have to be absolutely up to it right from the get go; get at them, harry them and press them in order to ascertain a sense of dominance and control over a frankly inadequate yet inevitably embattled Liverpool side. Starting Herrera almost feels like a formality, yet deciding between Schneiderlin, Schweinstiger and Carrick in a midfield two is a real head scratcher.

Honestly I have no idea how we'll set up, and it's really bleedin exciting to be honest with you.

Don't be so stupid, he would never make Martial captain!

I was tempted to put this in the RAWK meltdown thread, but since it's actual words from their actual manager...

[in reference to their 3-0 defeat last year]

    Brendan Rodgers said:
"It was probably the best defeat I've ever had,'' said the Reds boss. "You never want to lose the game but I saw enough in that day to know we had actually got our identity back.

"We should have scored goals but ultimately lost the game because we didn't defend well enough. From that moment we then kicked on and had a good spell."

I actually very much like the sound of that. Fellaini will cause havoc for any defence and should give space for the 3 behind him to roam.

The thing with Fellaini is that he is a very rare player type these days. Impossible to defend against him on headers, and holds the ball up nicely as well. I mean he has limited abilities for a pro footballer, but stick him up front somewhere and he always scores or creates chances for his teammates. Second striker is probably his strongest position though.

If Fellaini starts at least we will get to see him play without having the midfield hit long punts from deep at him.

We should play to his strenghts but it won't be anything like when he comes on the last 15 mins when we need a goal. Plenty of crosses and the occasional hoof ball would be fine.

Whats this lowry thing? Is it a hotel? Also I am surprised the team meets at a hotel even before home games. I just thought those guys might be directly going to the stadium on matchdays a few hours before the match. Guess this is what happens when you live in a small city without any sports team around. :(

Not necessarily true. It was crazy how cautious we were being with our build up play down 2-1 against Swansea. Just hitting it forward since we couldn't get the ball forward on the ground.

Something Skrtel got is aerial dominance so i'm not sure Fellaini is the best solution, however the alternative is a 19 year old kid who haven't played a game in PL.

Manchester United - Fellaini as our striker, good grief

I'm looking forward to it. He destroyed Can last year. He'll destroy Skrtel this one with a bit of luck.

I don't think Fellaini will start as a striker. LVG has mentioned how he sees Depay as a no.9, too.
    ----------------------Depay------------------------
    ---Young-----------Herrera-----------Mata---
    ----------Schweini--------Schenidi-------------
    ---Shaw----Smalling----Blind-----Darmian-
    ------------------------DDG------------------------

Subs: Romero, Rojo, Valencia, Carrick, Fellaini, Martial, Wilson

Nope players shift to a hotel one day before the match and then leave from there for the match, imagine the chaos if everyone was coming from their own home :D

Both sides with something to prove.dippers will be up for this after their humiliating loss .1-0.

I said on the day the Wilson loan news broke that it was a stupid decision, the recall clause is only for a long term injury and you can't call him back if Rooney gets injured on a Friday (little did I know that it would happen on the Friday before the biggest game of the season). Pretty obvious now that it will be Fellaini up top with Memphis, Herrera and Mata behind him

Got a source for the recall specifics?

Both teams on paper missing key players in Rooney, Carrick, Countinho and Sturridge.

This might be a nervy encounter, hopefully get loads of goals and excitement.

No but I mean it's obvious that the recall part would only be valid if you want him back for the whole time, you can't recall him for a week and then send him on loan again after 2 games
