Gone with this. Think fellaini could be of big importance with his hold up play then being able to release Martial to stretch the defence with his pace

I think we're going to see Carrick starting to captain the squad with Rooney out.

I desperately want a goal from either:

Fellaini - because you know how much that would rile them up.
Martial - Our completely over priced new toy.
Skrtel own goal - he's an absolute car crash of a human being.
Depay - another overpriced shitty dutch player.
Schweinsteiger - because he's completely over the hill.
Shaw - fat over priced and no where near as good as Gomez.
Pretty much sums it up. Maybe a goal from the overrated Matteo 'second choice behind Clyne who rejected us' Darmian as well.

Have an awful feeling we'll be seeing lots of square balls across the midfield and hoofs up to Fellaini. We have pace in the squad again. We should be using it.

After a year and a half I still haven't worked out if Van Gaal is the sort to throw a player straight in once an issue is sorted out, or to ease him in over a couple of weeks. Gone for DDG (as most will, I suspect), but that's mostly because that's what I would do, not because I have a clue how LVG will handle it.

    I've gone,

    DDG
    Darmain Smalling Blind Shaw
    Schweinsteiger Schneiderlin
    Mata Herrera Depay
    Fellaini
I'm thinking I should have stuck Young in, and Depay up front, with Fellaini in the number 10 for Herrera though.

How come we're playing them in the early evening? Have the police decided it isn't an issue any more?

feck, that's not a bad idea. Depay's meant to be one of our goal scorers so him up front makes sense.

Would love to see that team

I was sure Carrick would start with Rooney out but now that Schweinsteiger tweet has me second guessing myself.

think you're spot on with the first one. although i'd like to have seen Jones instead of Blind because of Benteke's physicality

    I went with;

    -----------------De Gea
    Darmian - Smalling - Blind - Shaw
    --------------Schmeidfield
    Mata-----------Herrera--------Depay
    -----------------Martial

This with maybe Martial and Depay switching positions. Subs: Carrick, Young, Fellaini

I'm resigned to getting the striker and Carrick or Schweinsteiger dilemmas wrong :(

trying to decide whether to open the first beer. got a long night ahead with Athletico vs Barca later on and reckon i won't be able to stay up if i crack one open now...but the nerves...just....too...much

I really can't see LVG starting Martial in the highest-pressure game of the season. There are very, very few managers who would do that. Sub him on, maybe, but not immediately throw him right into the lion's den.

    De Gea
    Darmian Smalling Blind Shaw
    Carrick Schneidy
    Mata Fellaini Memphis
    Wilson
Fergie never would have thrown a new 19 year old signing in against Liverpool for his first start. Not sure about LVG but I suspect Martial will come off the bench.
