First time I've seen Robertson get skinned a few times in a game. By Gnabry. Shame we don't have a right winger.

Did they ring the other poster to say that they were?

They're professional footballers, just had more than a week off and will play the most heated game of the season on Sunday. They'll be ready and there won't be any excuses from my side if they aren't.
No, that's my point. None of us know the state of the players fitness and health, who is carrying niggles and who is tired or not.

You speak as if it's fact. Hendo might be out on the ale on Saturday night and smoke a pack of 20 Regal Superkings. He might not. We don't know, we aren't the players' friends and family.

Lukaku might have an all-day breakfast at 6am on matchday then a Dominos and not be able to run.

    Good day.

Yeah we know that he won't but okay then.

If we had one of Martial and Lingard back for this game that would be huge for us IMO.

Regardless, I'm pretty confident when we play anyone these days, which is great.

We normally do a good job of keeping Salah quiet, so hopefully we can nullify that threat again.

This is the only game that matters to me. I just hope we get a win against these cretins and it somehow in the end makes them lose out on the title.

I understand what a diamond is. I'm asking you what this "Ole's diamond is 50-50" nonsense means?
I feel the game will be decided on the wings if Ole goes with the same system. Liverpool has some of the best wingers and fullbacks in the league. I think they will either overwhelm us, or we will exploit and catch them out on the flanks just like we did against Arsenal.

Bayern shown where they're weak last night. Robertson leaves big gaps in behind and can be got at, I'd be surprised if we didn't give it a go at the weekend because he won't start sitting deep all of a sudden.

Expecting to revert to a diamond when out of possession so they can't go through the middle of us and instead will be forced to cross the ball to their small forwards but change to a wide front three when we win the ball back to exploit the space.

We'll do these on the counter as long as we're clinical.

    Only Lovren out isnt it?

    Arnold - VVD - Matip - Robertson

Yeah they have most of their defence out...

I thought most of there defence was not playing last night, this was their lineup, I believe:

Yes, I think the system will be key. Pushing the forwards high up the pitch would be massive as it would allow us to exploit the spaces behind their attacking full backs. It worked to devastating effects against Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea. A lot will depend on how Liverpool set up.

That's because Van Dijk was suspended. Our defense will be Robertson - Van Dijk - Matip - TAA, the only change from our strongest defensive line-up being Matip in for Gomez.

Matip is pretty good as a second/third choice CB or option. Pretty quick, decent passing, decent in the air. Just a well rounded CB, but very bland, sort of like Smalling is, so I figure he might not get the plaudits he deserve from your fans, opposition fans and media? Or do you not rate him? I've seen him make a few mistakes but when he is on form he is pretty good I'd say.

Pretty much agree with all of that. On his day, he's good enough to be our starting CB but unfortunately he blows hot and cold. You don't know which version you're gonna get if he has to fill in, luckily yesterday he was solid but he could just as well be a disaster on Sunday.

I'm happy with him as our back-up CB but I can't wait for Gomez to come back. Injuries are ruining his career/progress so far, and it's sad to see because his potential is through the roof imo.

Only the bolded part in your post is true.

We played one day later as you guys did, so that won't make much of a difference. Last night didn't drain us, if anything we should be more confident about ourselves.

I can assure you it wasn't Bayern's plan to leave Anfield without a goal, but they settled in the end (it wasn't our goal to leave without a goal either though, obviously) and banked on their home game to see the tie out, which is a very risky strategy.

    Mr. Encyclopedia and Oracle combined.

Bayern obviously were happy with a draw from the start. They kept back the entire match and knew that Poo would be tired in the later part of the game. Kovac knew Anfield is a difficult ground to visit and wants to finish the task at home.

When the match ended, you could see players were tired. Drained physically, mentally I don't know and you neither. That said, the 0-0 is probably best outcome for us ahead of Sunday mentally and that 1 day within the same week matters physically, for sure.

We beat them and Spurs win their game in hand and the table will look like this:

    1. City - 65
    2. Liverpool - 65
    3. Spurs - 63

    Closest title race in years!

They kept back the entire match because we put them under pressure and they were not good enough to attack us.

Also, Poo? I'd say I was talking to a 12 year old if you didn't join in 2001.

Smash these cnuts then we can take the rest of the season off, as far as I'm concerned. I'm confident. They're coming into this as favourites and that's dangerous in this fixture.

Looking forward to this one. Hope it will be one for the history books.

Phew, that's my daily cliche post done, feels good.

Robertson looked poor last night. First time I've seen him have a bad game tbh, been a fantastic signing.

Don't think it'll go unnoticed that he's susceptible to the pacy counter. Hopefully Rash will play as he did against Chelsea in that channel

Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs all played with a system where fullbacks pushed very high, so Rashford, Martial/Lukaku were played in wide roles with Lingard/Mata in the middle, to use the space left by fullbacks. Liverpool are same, they push FBs very high so we might play the same system. Rashford and Lukaku as wide forwards, if Martial is fit then Martial and Rashford playing in wider areas and hit them on counter.

In our big league games this season, our full backs have been a bit more conservative. Klopp will know about the pace of Lingard and Martial and will no doubt sit our full backs a few yards further back.
Robertson didn't look great last night but he usually has Van Dijk next to him to help so I expect us to look a bit more solid with him back. Matip did ok but Lovren should be thrown back in if he's available.

If Ole wins this, the job is his 100% no matter what the newspapers say.

I mean to write Pool but phone’s auto-correct insists on Poo.

This will be a little bit like PSG - it's great there is confidence about the place, but make no mistake - they are way ahead of us right now.

Very excited, but we'll do well to get something out of this one.

Are these guys mean to be back this weekend?

I hope at least one of Lingard or Martial are back for this.

I don't want to see Lukaku playing but he did a job on Kolasanic and can see Ole going for that again.

Why is everyone ruling Tottenham out? That’s what I’m hoping for. They have a game in hand over Citeh and if we win at wknd they could be just 2 pts behind...with Kane to come back in

Lads...It's Spurs. Im quite confident that the vast majority of United fans would want Spurs to win over City and Pool, but we remember when they were allowed to kick Chelsea off the park by Mark Clattenburg only to draw 2-2 and hand Leicester the title. What followed was their arse falling from under them and finishing 3rd. Newcastle humiliated them even after going a man down.

Then you have Spurs binning the cups in 16/17 to concentrate on the league, only to never get close to the title. Which is what is happening again. Spurs have 2 derbies and games at Anfield and Etihad. I surmise they will finish on 86 points again while the league winner will finish in the mid 90s.

You honestly don't think Bayern played for a draw last night?
It was the most they could've hoped for given the way they played. I don't think they purposefully played as bad as they did, no.

There is no way they can be called favourites. Liverpool are almost never favourites at Old Trafford: they won three league games at our place in the last 15 years. Their form isn't better than ours either.

Of course they can win the game. I'm terrified they will. But they are not favourites, even with Martial and Lingard out.

(I think the most likely result is a draw).
