We should play this with very much less pressure than PSG and Chelsea games. Pressure on them.

I thought Bayern handled Liverpool very well tonight. Where Bayern let them off the hook though was through the wide areas and James having an off day.

That shouldn't be a problem for us.

Hope Martial is back for Sunday, then him, Rashford & Pogba can run riot vs them.

    Ah, cheers.

Not too worried about either of them if I'm being honest, as good as they've been I just don't think they'll be the difference makers in this game even if they are "fit" to play come Sunday.

Defining factors will be De Gea, Pogba and Rashford, and how your defense holds up against our attack.
Lingard, maybe not but Martial, ohlala, I can only think of what we can put you when he's on fire. Pogba, Rashford, Herrera, Matic are going to be the other important players.

Yeah maybe you are right, I haven’t seen a lot of him under Ole.

Agree on Pogba and Rashford. They’ve been on absolute fire recently.

Michael Oliver has given Liverpool 7 penalties in his last 9 games he has been a referee in a Liverpool game.

    Fantastic.

No wonder he's the ref then. Remember him sending di Maria off for grabbing his shirt but the next week joe Hart basically nutted him and did feck all

    I hope Martial can play.
    Starting 11 for this game:

    DDG
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Herrera Matic Pogba
    Mata
    Rashford Martial

Doubt martial will start, but that's a class line up if we need to use that formation

    Look at his

look at his fecking hair. He's in his mid fecking forties surely. I stopped doing that to my hair in my late 20s and I grew up a punk/metalhead. He looks like he steals underwear off clotheslines and collects stamps
You did that to your hair in your late 20's ?

Interesting scenario for this thread . If the game is level at 75 minutes would you want Ole to go for it and try to win or just hold on and take a point ?

Always go for the win against Liverpool. Feck titles or points or places, it's about pride. We should always wanna win this game regardless

Obviously try and push for a win BUT, this is probably Liverpool’s hardest fixture left and one of our toughest. A draw wouldn’t necessarily be bad for either I think. A win for either is a massive victory though.

I’ll be in the stands this weekend for the game so they better win that game for sure.

I absolutely don’t care the manner, JUST BLOODY WIN THAT GAME !!!!!!!!

I don’t think that Lingard will play tbh. His injury usually last for 2/3 weeks. Martial maybe ready as it’s more a groin injury (it seems)

But even without them let’s win this.

Big concerns for me will be how we can close space in the wings, especially the left side where Mane and Robertson are in form.

I think we will play diamond again in order to compete in midfield, but we may be weak outwide leaving Shaw and Young alone. 4-3-3 could be good but without real wingers to play against them is really difficult.

Think we have no choice going diamond, and hopefully Pogba/Herrera/Matic can protect our weak back 4 and hopefully Rashford can have one counter…. I don’t count much on Lukaku or Mata.

    De Gea

    Young
    Lindelof
    Smalling
    Shaw

    Matic
    Herrera
    Pogba

    Mata
    Lukaku
    Rashford

Feeling unusually relaxed about this one.

    1. Going off the last meeting, as much as Liverpool dominated and we had Mourinho’s defensive back 9, at the end of it we were still unlucky to conceed two deflected goals.

    2. As much as the Scousers can try and take the pressure off by claiming “we can afford to lose” I’m not sure that is true. Wheels came off to a degree after the defeat at City. Make no mistake, if they leave OT with nothing, it’s a kick in the bollocks.

    3. If any of us “can afford to lose” it’s probably us, as Chelsea are dogshit at the moment & Arsenal gonna Arsenal whilst we are in good form.

Ole will have us fired up & motivated to dent their title hopes no doubt. Only shame is this fixture isn’t coming a bit later in the season.

It doesn’t look like Liverpool have anyone at the level of Marquinhos to man mark Pogba so efficiently. As such, they may encounter certain problems.

On the other hand, we definitely need to avoid starting Lukaku as it’s almost like playing 10 men. So, the squad should be similar to the one against Chelsea, except for Martial if fit (instead of Lukaku). Sanchez may start instead of Mata if played in a similar role

I live in Liverpool now and will be watching with a whole bunch of Liverpool supporters and my work is also full of Liverpool fans . It's going to be so much fun if United can get a win .

I don't see how we can't play with wingers.

We won't enjoy the outcome of Mane/Robertson running at Young all game - same goes for the other side.

Need to see what kind of squad we'll have, but hopefully a similar one to the Chelsea game with Martial and/or Lingard at least on the bench. I can't see much difference in starting line-up. Smalling has been great in the two games he's played, but Liverpool's pressing might be a big ask for him despite him not looking rusty so far. I could see Bailly preferred, but other than that I think the only other potential change from Monday night is Mata being replaced by Lingard or Sanchez. I am more expecting Ole to stick with the same line-up, but if there are changes those are the two I can see happening.

    Hate these games.

    Hope we win
I know what you mean. I never watch these games, I just flick on the radio here and there to hear what's happening. Too nervous to even put sky sports on.
I think that win at Chelsea gives me confident that we won't lose.

Our players will be ready. Oh boy will they be ready.

Poo are probably without Lovren on Sunday which helps. They also need to recover from last night against Bayern. It was the perfect result for us, really drained them.

Poo struggle against teams that press them and follow through. They need their high tempo and counter attacks. It’s been their secret sauce. Bayern got the 0-0 they wanted because they were able to take control of that.

Look forward to seeing our coaching team tactical delivery, it was an important factor in the result against Chelsea.

Noticed Bayern had a lot of joy down the right hand side last night. They must have identified something in Robertson's game that's exploitable. Blueprint for us right there.

I don't see how we can't play with wingers.

We won't enjoy the outcome of Mane/Robertson running at Young all game - same goes for the other side.
But we will enjoy the outcome of Rashford consistently exploiting the space Robertson vacates - same goes for the other side. Ole's diamond will be 50-50 for this game.

Only the bolded part in your post is true.

We played one day later as you guys did, so that won't make much of a difference. Last night didn't drain us, if anything we should be more confident about ourselves.

I can assure you it wasn't Bayern's plan to leave Anfield without a goal, but they settled in the end (it wasn't our goal to leave without a goal either though, obviously) and banked on their home game to see the tie out, which is a very risky strategy.

How the feck do you know, are you all of the players bodies? Did Hendo and Andy ring you and say "Robin, we're alright, la. Tuesday night didn't drain us."

Did they ring the other poster to say that they were?

They're professional footballers, just had more than a week off and will play the most heated game of the season on Sunday. They'll be ready and there won't be any excuses from my side if they aren't.
