The Brown Bull
It's Coming Home.
We really should win this game.
Depends on who's fit for us, I'd say. If Milner, Matip, Henderson and Coutinho are all unavailable, we'll lose but if the majority of them are back (I'm expecting everyone back except for Matip) it'll be an interesting game. As they say, form goes out of the window in fixtures like this but United have the advantage for me, with you guys being in great form lately and playing at home. It's also our first game without Mane and I don't really have an idea how much that will impact our style of play, but we'll definitely miss his pace and attacking threat.
I'd definitely take a point from that perspective, although we haven't lost a game against the current top six under Klopp this season. Can't see us winning tbh, so going for a 1-1 or 2-2.
I'm not sure yet mate, 4 of us are going over with an Irish travel company called Whartons Travel. They provide us with the tickets, they'll give them to us on the day of the match.
This is probably going to be our hardest game of the season. United with Mourinho, unbeaten in 15 and on a 9 game winning run. Doesn't get much harder than a trip to Old Trafford right now.@RobinLFC @Klopper76 @Cassady @Rafateria @Speedy30 @B20 And Liverpool fans I've missed:

Didn't he openly decline going to the AFCONA Liverpool fan I know told me he thinks Matip isn't injured, Liverpool are just avoiding any potential AFCON trouble and that he'll play against United. Is that true?
Last I heard Cameroon were trying to get him in trouble for it, so (allegedly) Liverpool are pretending he's injured to prevent any charges.Didn't he openly decline going to the AFCON
No that's not true, he wasn't included in the selection by Broos so formally he "wasn't called upon" which meant he can play for Liverpool anytime. No idea if it's true. I think it's stupid if so, if he doesn't want to go it's his decision and he shouldn't get in trouble.
Is he? He hasn't played for Cameroon since June 2015 and since then has always indicated that he didn't want to play for them anymore. Would be weird/not his fault if they still registered him after that, imo.Its actually against FIFA regulations. He can of course retire from international football though but hes registered for this season I think.
If you refuse a callup then you can be banned from playing for your club for the call up period.

Anyway, there won't be any sanctions if he does play, he really is injured.

Weird that he hasn't done those things then, maybe he still intends to make a comeback once Cameroon has sorted its shit out.Yes, thats why he can be called up. He has not retired.
EDIT:
“The general situation is that any player is free to decide that he is not playing for his national team,” said Andreas Herren, a spokesman for world football’s governing body.
“There is no FIFA rule to prevent any player stopping his international career, that’s up to him,” he told AFP.
“The one thing that has to be considered is that the intention to leave a national team or put an end to an international career needs to be communicated prior to a specific summons.”
This was from FIFA when there was a row between Chelsea and France over Makalele in 2006

Considering we've got players coming back from injury and Mane is missing, I think a draw is the best we can manage. You're clear favourites and in a very good place right now so a loss wouldn't surprise me.
I can take a defeat as long as we recover straight away in the next league game. Obviously I'd prefer another win against one of the top six.
I'm never confident at Old Trafford though so I'm expecting the worst.
I think it's amazing that so much was made in the media about Jose's parking the bus tactics at Anfield. Its not like Liverpool were gung-ho themselves, Klopp was EXTREMELY conservative by his standards. We were just moreso.
Would be lovely if Rooney gets the record by scoring the winner against Liverpool.
Imagine the celebrations!
No doubt.
My hope is that mourinho will feel emboldened by your recent form, old Trafford and the united way and come out to play. Klopp would have a field day with that I think.
My feeling is that Mourinho will stay smart and do what it takes to not concede, Klopp will feel the same way and we'll all go home bored.
If you're nervous now you have a struggle on your hands come Sunday.Ugh I'm nervous. Can't stand the thought that the last 6-7 weeks work might be for nothing if they win.

Do you feel calmer if I say we simply have to win and losing points is not an option?I'm usually a bag of nerves before any United Liverpool game, but this has the most at stake of any of our games for years so god knows what i'll be like at kick off.

Lose and watch the bye bye top 4 posts in full flow.Win and I'll be a happy camper.
Lose and it will ruin my whole goddamn week.
Nah the game at Anfield in 14/15 had more at stake. It was later in the season and we were separated by a couple of points.I'm usually a bag of nerves before any United Liverpool game, but this has the most at stake of any of our games for years so god knows what i'll be like at kick off.

Maybe for you, but for us this game is huge. It either puts us back in the title rice (arguably) and confirms our credentials for top 4, or puts us back several steps in terms of both points and confidence. The gap we'd spent weeks closing would again become significant.
We're the better team and I'm very confident that we'll get the three points.
The team gives itself if everyone is fit.
Sounds fancy. In that case you won't be up in the nosebleeds with me. Enjoy!
All very feasible good post. This is our biggest game of the season by far. It really is make or break as we would have some quite favourable fixtures right up until March (as we have to expect to make the League Cup Final, meaning City away would be pushed back). We play Stoke away (PL) [their home form isn't quite what it used to be with W4D4L3], Hull away (LC), Wigan home (FAC), Hull home (PL), Leicester away (PL), Watford home (PL), followed by the Saint-Etienne fixtures and probable League Cup Final (albeit most likely against Liverpool as well) throughout January and February.
Liverpool
I'll be trying to look at this from a Liverpool fan perspective, so any 'pool posters on here feel free to voice at me if you don't agree. I think Liverpool can be pretty happy with a draw here, even if it gives their title hopes a bit of a set-back. It'll be extremely difficult for them to win the title if Chelsea have already won before this game happens and may change their mind-set. However, given that they're probably going to be missing quite a few more players than us (or at least some who still won't be 100%), the fact we're at home, have 24 hours extra rest/prep time and are in excellent form, a draw can't be seen as a bad result.
Us
Got to win if we want to be in the equation, though it's more likely to be a "who finishes 2nd behind Chelsea" kind of thing unless the big teams can all do what Spurs did to some extent. A draw doesn't do us too many favours, but given our run of fixtures we could probably expect to sneak into fourth by mid-February. We've got practically everything going for us, so we need to capitalize on it now. Failure to win here will honestly feel like this amazing run of results was a waste.
Line-up
I believe Jose has basically known the team to play this game for a couple of weeks now and it has to be this:
de Gea
Valencia Jones Rojo Blind
Herrera Carrick Pogba
Mkhitaryan Ibrahimovic Martial
Looking over the past two fixtures, anyone who played the majority of both games doesn't start on Sunday IMO, with the exception of Jones or Smalling due to the complication with Rojo's fitness. de Gea, Valencia, Carrick, Herrera, Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic are first-choice so play if fit. Jones & Rojo is a partnership we shouldn't need to split just yet even though I'm a big advocate of Smalling (so obviously have no qualms if he has to play). Blind missed yesterday so has to be the favorite to play Left Back. Martial didn't start last night, so will play on the left side of the attack.
Subs bench will include Romero, Smalling, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, and Rashford with one of Darmian/Young/Fosu-Mensah/Lingard taking the final spot in the squad.
Going for a 2-1 United win, but I think we'll make hard work of it.
