Last time against this lot our midfield dominated theirs, but we were playing our 4-2-3-1. This time I expect our 3 of Carrick, Herrera and Pogba to do the same, but also navigate around their pressing so we can create better opportunities. That'll be the key to breaking up their possession based play for me. Certainly I think no one in the midfield has the strength to match Pogba, so I'd expect him to be our main driving force. Carrick will be critical.

Changing my prediction for this to a loss. We looked rubbish tonight and I don't see us being able to match you at the moment.

We'll batter them if they play like that on Sunday. Either way I've a good feeling, as we're a superior team in almost every aspect.

Hasn't been a better time to play them. No Mane. Henderson & Matip looking doubts and Coutinho still needing to return to full fitness.

    Really got to capitalise.

Some of the 'big guns' came on and you still couldn't break Plymouth down. That team should have despatched Plymouth easily. What team is Klopp going to put out tomorrow?? Will he be playing the same team tomorrow and Sunday?? You're going to lose both games anyway.

You're a terrible WUM, I don't even know why I bothered to reply to you.

So......as I was saying. Being called out just because I said Liverpool were crap against Plymouth and were going to lose against Southampton and more importantly against United on Sunday.

They were rubbish again today. Rock up at Old Trafford in that form and there'll only be one result.

Have to be targeting that defence on Sunday. Need to show the right intent and be on the front foot.

We are, but Klopp has a knack of getting 100% out of his team in big games. We'll need to match that commitment.

Why are Liverpool going to be the ones to raise their game and not us?

We've been playing well recently but hardly our peak of what we have the ability to do. What's to suggest we won't be at optimum regardless of Liverpool?

Southampton outmuscled them at every turn tonight. And I expect Jose to instruct our players to be even more physical - it is a key advantage of ours. We have to bully them.

They'll obviously be a lot better against us than they have been lately but I'll be really disappointed if we can't beat them.

If their midfield consists of Can and Lucas I expect Pogba to absolutely wreck them

We're literally twice the size of them and have the skill to outplay them. I hope we turn up.

Their shite performance tonight means nothing for Sunday. They will be 100% up for it.
We need to work hard, and no brain farts!

They looked even more languid tonight than we did yesterday. Coutinho looked completely out of form. I expect a better performance from both sides on Sunday.

It's just the last sentence that bothered me, 'doesn't matter you're gonna lose both games anyway' as if you're some football genius that proclaims it as a 100% fact.

However, yes we were rubbish today and should be glad we still have a chance to put things right in the return leg, I have no problem admitting that ;)

We haven't lost consecutive games under Klopp, so will be interesting to see if Sunday will be a first.

Thought Herrea was poor against Hull. Looks mentally tired at the moment, with poor decision making and generally being off the pace. Would like to see Fellaini in, who has generally had a decent season bar two poor mistakes and was quite unlucky to fall out the side when playing well.

Any chance Klopp plays to nullify us like Mourinho did at Anfield? Or will he just go for it?
He might try and do what he did against City. We played a very defensive game in that game and hung on for the 1-0. I'm not sure we're good enough to keep you out if we play like that though.

I find whichever team is in worse form does better in this derby. I'd be more confident if they'd been having an easy ride of it recently, because clearly we have the quality to give them a proper game and that's when the team who've been coasting tend to come unstuck. I just hope that's not going to be us instead.

    You actually have.

Villareal then Swansea. 1-0 defeat in a first leg and then a 3-1 defeat away.

    Hopefully same happens again.

If we turn up, I'm confident we can win regardless of what they do at the moment.

Jose now has a much better handle on the team than was the case at Anfield.

Meanwhile they have had a harder game this evening, have no Mane, a rusty Coutinho, a Firmino out of form + their less than impregnable defence.

They'll be up for it, but I'm still going for a United win. If you offered Klopp a point right now, I think he'd take it. Thing is, he can't set up a defence like Jose can ;)

    You having a laugh?

That was to be expected though, 7/8 weeks out and only 4 full training sessions since his injury! He'll still be off the pace on Sunday and I think he'll only use him if either team has the game dead and buried, just to get minutes on the clock.

Ah yeah, you're right. Had a quick scan through our results last year, looks like I missed that one.

You want us to drop Herrera and play Fellaini?

    :wenger:

Hopefully it will be a brilliant game. Not the end of our season if we lose (thanks to the cups we're still competing in), but if we win things get really interesting.
