No Valencia should definitely not. There is not a soul in Manchester who deserves to play less than Antonio.

I don't know. If Rafael is for some reason unfit (which happens at least half the time) then I'd prefer him at right back than Jones/Smalling, even if his positional sense isn't great. It's Leicester. I want 4 at the back, pace and balance through the team and win the game in the first half.

As far as playing on the wing goes, yeah, I'd prefer another option. As far as wing-back goes, I'd prefer another system.

Can only assume with the injuries we'll go

    -------------De Gea-------------
    Valencia--Jones--Rojo--Shaw
    --------------Blind---------------
    -----Fellaini--------Di Maria-----
    --------------Mata---------------
    --------RVP--------Rooney--------

So of course no Herrera again :(

With Carrick out and Van Gaal saying he now knows it's time to put a team out to create more, I don't think he's going to fall back on the diamond which he clearly doesn't quite trust.

I think he will go for 4-3-3.

    De Gea
    Valencia - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Fellaini - Blind - Rooney
Herrera - Van Persie - Di Maria
I'd expect something like that, knowing LVG.

But I'd rather this team if we were to play 4-3-3, however I don't think he would trust it not to concede:

    De Gea
    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
Herrera - Blind - Di Maria
Wilson - Van Persie - Rooney
With Rooney and Di Maria switching and attacking from that left channel, Wilson tearing in from the right to unleash his leathal left footed snap shots, Van Persie feeding off the creativity of Herrera, Blind, Di Maria and Rooney....

It would absolutely crucify this Leicester side.

    4-3-3 please.

    De Gea
    Rafael Smalling Rojo Shaw
    Herrera Blind
    Januzaj Mata Di Maria
    Rooney

Lets have a bloody go at them. Ge the ball to Adnan and Angel and give them license to run at people.
They'll lose the ball a few times but they'll also wreck havoc and keep the feckers honest. It'll make space elsewhere.

I'd prefer to see 30% possession and 20 attemps on goal than 90% an 2.

    That's 4-2-3-1

Do you know what the worst thing is?
I typed 4-3-3 while saying 4-2-3-1 in my head!

    Dysnumerixic

Edit - I made that up, it's actually Dyscalulia apparently although my word is better.

Jesus I hope not. It's been hiding itself well for 28 years if I have!

This is most likely wishful thinking, but...

Looks like we're going to stick to a 4-4-2!
*No idea what context this was said in or when

I thought he was a stubborn old dinosaur who would get himself sacked forcing this 3-5-2 that he "believes in"

    -------------DDG---------------------
    Valencia---Jones-----Rojo----Shaw

LVG revealing formations before the game? He hates that doesn't he? It's a curveball, we'll see something else...something insane like...

    DDG
    Jones McNair Rojo
    Valencia Blind Rooney Shaw
    Mata
    RVP Di Maria
    But because of the headlines from the presser, everybody will initially think;
DDG - Jones, McNair , Rojo, Shaw - Valencia,Rooney,Blind, Di Maria - Mata RVP in a 4-4-1-1 and then be horribly disappointed by a back 5.

Louis van Gaal: ‘I was the king of Manchester. Now I am the devil’
    :p

I am of the opinion that this is something of a pivotal game for Van Gaal. Utd supporters have been becoming increasingly frustrated by the funereal pace at which the team has been playing and his stubborn refusal to change the formation that's at the root of the problem.

We're at home to the team at the bottom of the league. If we don't produce the sort of play everyone is longing for and begin to at least look like the Man Utd we all know and love, the frustration of even the most loyal supporters could turn to outright hostility against Van Gaal and rightly so.

Up to now he's had a free ride, due to his reputation and history. It could be that free ride ends today.

A bit harsh Im a big Valencia fan. He frustrates me more than anyone with his reluctance to take a man on 20 yards and his crossing. But the amount of work he does going forward and back is to be admired. If he could get that final 20 yards sorted like he was his first couple of seasons he'd be an awesome sight again. Much more reliable than Rafa!

If the players have any dignity they had better batter them tomorrow considering the wages they are on, and the team that humiliated us are last in the league

This is one of the most retarded arguments going.

What the players earn isn't a factor. It doesn't matter how hard they try, if they're being made to play a formation that patently doesn't suit them we won't ever see them at their best. It has been increasingly evident that the 3-5-2 system has had them in shackles, unable to display their individual talent. Those shackles may be removed today and we may see them at their glorious best. That is what we live in hope of.

I'm expecting players being played out of position, a lot of possession, terrible service to front men (especially if Falcao starts), slow boring and predictable build up with Leicester sat deep and defending it all with relative ease.
I'm still expecting/demanding a victory but it will probably be a nervy one nil with Dave making some crucial saves once more.

Really hope I'm wrong and we smash them but I can only think of maybe three games all season where we played anything resembling attractive attacking football (one of them was that 5-3 defeat)

Well if money doesnt matter for such a huge team like United they could display some pride if you know what I mean, and yeah with this 3-5-2 not being used today , I look forward to todays match

Did you enjoy the Cambridge game?

    Gone for:

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney Falcao

Hoping Rafael plays, but I also expect to probably see Fellaini and van Persie start. Januzaj and Wilson are maybe the only other two players who I think will get a chance to play.

I'm predicting similar and like you say I think if we are playing 4 at the back Fellaini will get the nod ahead of Mata and we will lineup like this:

    De Gea
    Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Fellaini - Rooney
    Herrera
    Van Persie - Di Maria

For some reason I have visions of LVG and EW staying late in the boardroom (after the new manager's appointment) and talking Champions League and beating Real or Munich, and devoting slightly less attention to the famous Rainy Night in Stoke (needs to be put to music). When many (and I was not immune) went into muppet mode for the arrival of Mata and Di Maria, I pictured them playing against cultured opposition on perfect pitches under blue skies. The cup matches and run against supposedly weak opposition in the first half of the season emphasised that the reality of the week to week of the club - the meat and drink of season - was hoof-the-ball, 11-at-the-back, six-foot-nine hardass centre halves, rainy days, interspersed with the odd open match against more elegant and classy opposition. Does some of this explain the 3-5-2, the attempt at 'patient' possession when fast incisive delivery might work better? Is this facing a journeyman and dreaming of a bout with Ali, a bit like the old story of how do Celtic prepare for Europe? Let's just concentrate on the job at hand to day, and dismantle Leicester.

I need a stream for the first time in years and as such I'm a bit out of the loop. If some kind soul would kindly PM me the top streaming site(s) du jour, I'd be much obliged.

    Louis Van Gaal Press Conference:

RVP and Falcao upfront, Rooney behind, ADM Fellaini and Blind in MF I would imagine.
