Some ridiculous goals to concede and the Old Trafford game United was in full control of the game and tie before messing it up.

A lot of change since then as De Gea,Wan Bissaka,Varane,Sabitzer,Sancho,Martial,Weghorst,Pellistri,Elanga,Fred all featured in those games.
I’d argue we've upgraded on most of the players mentioned:

Onana > De Gea: While De Gea excels in reflexes, Onana outperforms him in most other areas, particularly with his distribution and ball-playing ability.

Mazraoui > AWB: This one is clear-cut; Mazraoui brings far more to the table without needing further explanation.

Varane = De Ligt: When fit, Varane has been excellent for us, but his injury record has been a concern. De Ligt appears to be a solid replacement and could even become an upgrade in the long run.

Amad, Garnacho > Sancho, Pellistri, and Elanga: Amad and Garnacho have shown far greater potential and impact compared to what Sancho, Pellistri, and Elanga have delivered for us.

Mainoo > Fred: Talented young player who has shown he can do the basic midfield things very well. Basically, his ability to keep possession and recycle the ball effectively.

Zirkzee = Martial: Both are adept link-up players, though Martial had superior pace. If Zirkzee can stay fit and chip in with goals, he could very well prove to be an upgrade.

Hojlund > Weghorst: This comparison is straightforward; Hojlund is clearly the superior option.

Ugarte vs. Sabitzer/McTominay: It’s too early to determine if Ugarte will be an upgrade, but as they play different roles, making any direct comparison is a bit pointless.

This is why I remain hopeful for this season. Our squad is in better shape, and we’ve shown promising performances so far, even if the results haven’t fully reflected that.

Fully prepping for that Ten Hag “hurt the ones you love” quote to become an evergreen meme when they turn us over tonight.

That Malacia goal was so shit.

You can clearly hear the away shout and he just lets it go past him. Moronic defending.

It's always amusing to see his name come up. Honestly, there's a better chance of seeing Malacia, Wheatley, or Amass on the bench before him. Do people really expect a player who's only played in Mali in his career till now to make a direct jump into Manchester United's senior lineup?

Also, he would have been playing for the u-21s yesterday if he was anywhere near match fit enough to play.

Bruno to have a stormer and kickstart his and our season. I fancy us to win this comfortably while using max subs and to grind out the win v spurs at the weekend too. The nucleus of a really strong team is there now. It’s up to the staff to figure it out and coax much better out of what we have, especially in an attacking sense in the tighter games

    Good summary there.

As appalling as our football was last season, our sqaud is definitely far stronger than when ten hag took over, despite a couple of dodgy signings.

Im quietly optimistic about the season but think we'll still have some poor results at times.

Twente in a good scoring form, United's defense slowly stepping up.

Could be a great match, than rather another 0:0.

They're conversion rate looks astoundingly high. They won they're last game 5-0 despite creating just one big chance to Almere City's five.

They also seem to attack almost exclusively down the wings, with their #10 Steijn usually being the one to finish moves. He's at 6 in 6 so far (with two being penalties), so he's the guy we probably wanna be tracking most closely.

Note: I haven't watched them at all. This is just basic stuff you can work out from their statistics this season.

De Ligt is Maguire's replacement. Varane's is Yoro.

An indication of the quality is someone like Troy Parrott who struggled in League 1 having a respectable record in the Eredivisie.

It's only really the creme de la creme of Dutch clubs that would hold their own in the Prem.

They're doing fine in the league, that's for sure, and thankfully as last resort there's Onana's current form against their impressive conversion rate. De Ligt, Mazraoui and Martinez possess exact experience proper for that Dutch opponent type, too.

Interesting game, but if we don't score first, in the 1st half, this can get interesting, eventually. Still should win it, and it's also Ten Hag's match to win.

Given that Maguire is still around, I see things a bit differently for now. In the long term, I do agree it might play out as you mentioned. However, based on what we've seen this summer, it’s been more of a "one out, one in" approach.

    - Varane left, and De Ligt was brought in.
    - Martial left, Zirkzee in.
    - AWB out, Mazraoui in.
    - McTominay out, Ugarte in.
    - Amrabat left, and Collyer is now filling his spot both on the bench and as a emergency LB cover.
    - Kambwala out and Yoro in.

And I'd suggest this season, not a single club would be top half in the Prem. Feyenoord lost their manager + vital players and are struggling all across the board, Ajax has been struggling since Erik left and Feyenoord has had injuries and are not up to speed at all.

    Neither are we...

I'll like to see us play some more good football here

    Good post

Must win by multiple goals, and I have a good feeling we will. I'm predicting 3-0 or thereabouts. I feel better about the quality and mindset of our players than I have in several years.

I'd forgotten just how much luck Sevilla had in that tie, their 2 goals at Old Trafford were comically fortunate, we should have scored more, and DDG had a horror show in the away leg.

That was a very frustrating exit to swallow!

It feels weird having the Europa on a Wednesday... I have to keep reminding myself we're on the telly!

    Bayinder
Mazraoui - Maguire - de Ligt - Dalot
    Casemiro - Ugarte
    Antony - Mount - Rashford
    Hojlund
I have the same team except for Zirkzee instead of Mount, as I just assumed Mount wasn't available. OH and I have Amad instead of Antony as I would want the forwards to start knowing each other better and both Amad and Rashford are behind Garnacho for me.

Hope we see some rotation here. Keep everyone fresh. We have a big game Sunday.

An assured controlled display would be fantastic. Score a few goals and continues the current run of performances.

Feels all nice and calm knowing that we’re going to win a football match without any trouble.

Need matches like this for confidence and finding ways to play
