  • Fecking Disney+ has this game, where I live. I guess I'm buying a months subscription to go along with the Amazon Prime I bought to watch the Southampton game. Vultures.

All the players need game time. I'm not sure why Ten Hag has picked Eriksen for three consecutive matches.

He played 75 mins which isn’t really being subbed off early. Played similar amount of mins in his first appearance of the season against Southampton. He was shattered by when he came off against Palace which is understandable after playing the full 90 against Barnsley in midweek.

If he’s capable of playing about 70-75 mins again which he’s done and performed well than the likes of Bruno then I ain’t gonna argue with that.
I should have rephrased it to say he didn't play the full 90 like others. Not really enough to say he got rested but tiny bit better than the others who had to play full game. Hopefully we can take a comfortable lead and take him off early this time.

And where is that exactly? If I was wondering for some hypothetical friend who may or may not have a VPN?

With this line up really hope we finish it before 60 minutes and rest a lot of these.
I think EtH had gone too strong; he probably knows a loss would make the pressure even more unbearable for him.

Twenty clearly need to be feared. Ten Hag has even gone and brought back Steve McClaren just for the fixture!

I don't think he has the best of relationships with Casemiro and so is quite happy not to use him if he has a fit and in form Eriksen instead. I suppose Mainoo could have started but he has looked like he needs to have his minutes managed judging by his tendency to fade in the second half of games. We don't want to be running our best young talent into the ground whereas with Eriksen it is a case of squeezing out one more season before tossing him out the door on a free.

It's always amusing to see his name come up. Honestly, there's a better chance of seeing Malacia, Wheatley, or Amass on the bench before him. Do people really expect a player who's only played in Mali in his career till now to make a direct jump into Manchester United's senior lineup?

Also, he would have been playing for the u-21s yesterday if he was anywhere near match fit enough to play.
I only put Kone in there simply because I was struggling to name a full 12 substitute bench so went with any young player that never played last night against Doncaster.

Of course he will be in the youth squad for the time being along with Ob-Martin once that has been announced but don’t be surprised to see either of them on the bench for the 1st team soon especially when you consider our continuous bad luck with injuries.

ETH after starting Eriksen in 4 games in 10 days: “You said you wanted to play, eh? heh? heh?”

To me it seems Ten Hag knows our football to click relies on Eriksen.
Agreed. I mentioned it before but this should be a priority in the summer. Signing a younger version with the same attributes.

I actually have a different perspective. Based on what I have seen so far, Eriksen appears to be our best midfielder. considering his age and the physical demands of the season, its crucial to manage his playing time carefully. We should give him more rest and take the opportunity to develop our best young talents by giving them more regular game time.

He was never going to make it into the squad for this game though. If he was, we would have already heard reports or seen him training with the first team. We are quite a bit away from that.

We need to find a young player with the qualities and style of Eriksen in his prime. One player who comes to mind is Pedri from Barca.

It worked a lot in his first season, with Casemiro, Eriksen, Bruno.

Also allows the football ops team to scout better and specifically for a player like Eriksen, who compliments Ugarte and Mainoo.
