Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Twente is one of those plucky Dutch teams. You squash them before they get their feathers up.

Hopefully a bit of rotation for this game as we need to manage some players.

    -------------------------------------------------Bayindir--------------------------------------------------
    Mazraoui---------------------Maguire-------------Lisandro----------------------------Dalot
    ------------------------------------Casemiro-----------Ugarte---------------------------------------
    Amad------------------------------------------Mount-------------------------------------Rashford
    ---------------------------------------------------Zirkzee--------------------------------------------------

Hopefully we can score one or two quickly and rotate for the Spurs game

    Bayindir
    Dalot Maguire Evans Amass
    Casemiro Ugarte
    Antony Mount Garnacho
    Hojlund

Not too worried at the moment. Performance was good at CP and United have played well for about 3 games in a row now. Lofty praise I know ;)

A good performance here and a few goals will put them in a good place for Spurs at the weekend.

Just keep doing what they are doing.

Twente is a fun team but beatable. The win against Almere came up but that team wouldn't even be in the professional pyramid in England. They had a relatively easy run and already drew twice and lost once so far. In the Eredivisie which has lost quite some quality as of late.

Just realised they have Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

Scored a grand total of 2 goals for Norwich.

    Hat trick incoming.

Think he will go strong again here. Maybe one or two changes from the Palace game (Bruno hopefully one of them). This competition needs to be our priority. He’s won the 2 English Cups, so he needs to add a European one now and get Champions League next season. Rotate for the English Cups.

Yes, there is no real excuse for failing to win this considering Sevilla and Villarreal haven't qualified.

i mean when has he not gone strong in a cup competition? Seems to be his MO that he wants to put forth full strength team, or at least as close as possible, for every game. Cant really call game where its been like SAF time where he just plays a lot of youth

Expect few changes. Rashford to start and Højlund, along with Mount, Ugarte .
Maguire and J.Evans . Left back will be interesting. Knowing EtH he put the strongest 11 he can..

So how the hell does this new format work? How many games do we play in the initial round, and how high up the table do we have to finish to move on?

    Play 8 games.
Automatic promotion of the top 8 teams.
    Teams 9 - 24 will enter a play-off (two-legged knock-out).

8 games in a group stages with all the 36 teams in a single group. 4 home and 4 away games for all teams with the 8 oppositions being different. Top 8 go directly to round of 16 while teams ranked 9th-24th will play each other in an extra qualification round to make it to round of 16. The remaining are eliminated. Thanks FM.

Think it's time for Amad to get benched against Spurs. Thought Garnacho was comfortably better against Palace and Rashford probably deserves another start given his dropping was pretty questionable. Not expecting full rotation here because it's still one of our tough EL games. Think it's still too early for a Hojlund or Mount start so expecting sub appearances for them.

    Onana
    Mazraoui Maguire De Ligt Dalot
    Ugarte Casemiro
    Amad Bruno Rashford
    Zirkzee

Not sure we need 2 DM at home against Twente. But you’re probably right to be fair, none of them started last game so most likely to start here. Think ETH still needs to find our best balance in midfield. Eriksen and Ugarte worked. I’m interested to see how Mainoo and Ugarte work.

Case has been playing more like an 8 than a dm last couple games tbh. He's definitely far more attacking, creative and progressive than Ugarte. A bit concerned we're lacking that progressive passer. Think that's why Eriksen is suddenly starting again. He's done well but shouldn't be starting for us really.

Why are you dropping De Ligt to make room for Maguire,
    Ugarte + Eriksen?
Zirkzee is not a Striker, he's a false 9 at best
Why Antony, the bloke is the waste of a shirt

Another good confidence booster of a game. These last 4 games after Liverpool have been absolutely prefect for a team like us as the opposition have had zero threat and no ability to get a foothold in the game, allowing us to do as we please and keep the ball. Should be 5-0 or something like that. Mind you I predicted 3-0 against Palace, but I don't these will have enough quality to keep us out. We're the big fish in the EL this season and I expect us to be winning it. Anything else is a complete failure.

I wouldn’t have Antony anywhere this team. Absolute must win our home games in this competition. Eriksen’s best performance was when played further forward, but he’s played 3 games in just over a week, so not expecting him out again. Would like Bruno to be ‘rested’ but doubt that will happen. I do think Maguire will feature, but the front 4 is a problem as we are just not clinical enough. Should have beaten Palace by at least 2, but the benching of Rashford was mind blowing. The line-up prediction under EtH is a lottery.

I have no idea what the starting line up is going to be for this game. Opposition probably aren't great but it's a competition we need to take seriously because we have as much if not better chance of qualifying for the CL through this than finishing top 4.

This is what I predict the starting line up to be:

    Onana
    Maz
    Maguire
    De Ligt
    Dalot
    Ugarte
    Casemiro
    Mount
    Antony
    Hojlund
    Rashford

Mainoo needs a rest. Eriksen won't start if Erik wants to use him v Spurs. Martinez might get the bench after the two footer v Palace. Amad and Garnacho probably won't start as they started v Palace. He might give Evans a start instead of de Ligt, but de Ligt offers a set piece threat that we haven't had in ages so Ten Hag may keep him in the starting XI.

Not a bad guess. Since it’s forst game in the Europa league, I’m guessing we will start out a bit stronger though, but hard to disagree with any of your evaluations taken one by one.

I’m expecting Bruno to start, really, and Antony off the bench, maybe Højlund on for Zirkzee rather than starting.

It will be a strong team, and rightfully so. We need to get the first European win on the board to really set the tone. The only player I would like to see rested is Mazraoui.

We should be aiming to win the EL and our first team needs time to gel so we should field out strongest line up, and use the 5 subs early if we have a comfortable lead.

Could be a hot take for some but I'd drop an underperforming Mainoo for Casemiro/Ugarte. I'm assuming Eriksen starts.
