People are really underrating Twente here. It’s a good side from a good league, this aint Barnsley.

I could see us resting de Ligt for Maguire and maybe the same midfield as the one against Barnsley with Casemiro, Ugarte and Eriksen. One of Ugarte or Casemiro will play against Spurs, so 45-60 minutes here would be fine. Ugarte needs playing time to get up to speed. Eriksen needs to play 90 minutes here because he wont start against Spurs.

Rashford needs minutes, but again it depends on who is going to play against Spurs. I could see Zirkzee getting minutes also. Højlund and Mount could also get some minutes. Højlund looked extremely rusty against CP, so probably both coming on from the bench.

Twente really isn’t a team we should take lightly. People talking about a 4-0 and comfortable win could be in for a surprise. It could turn into the same as the game vs CP if we don’t manage to score in the first half.

I'd imagine we will go full strength here. Would be surprised with Collyer , Evans , Maguire or Antony start (unless we have injuries)

Yeah, I really don't see why we'd go weak in these EL matches. It just feels like some immediately see "cup game" and instinctively think "wholesale changes".

It's a major competition that we have a valid chance of winning. So we should be taking it serious anyway. But even if it's the kind of people who are solely obsessed with the PL and CL and nothing else - then winning the EL is probably our best chance of getting into the CL next season anyway. So even from the "only CL qualification matters, not trophies" attitude - then we should be taking the EL serious as a real opportunity for being in the CL next season.

Come on mate, they aren't even a top Dutch team. The side I put together could comfortably beat them.

You are probably right though, ETH will want to get off to a good start so he could go strong. I hope so anyway, I'm going on Wednesday, be good to see the first team develope further.

Yea my point wasn't that team couldn't win but it's a big enough competition and ETH is already under pressure so really needs to win that game.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he played the same team that started Vs Palace with maybe one or two changes.

I'd like to see Bruno dropped/rested, with Zirkzee dropping deep and Hojlund playing advanced. I'd just like to see how it looks.

We need to rotate in all the cups, the squad players need to be trusted and are capable of getting the results. The game against Spurs at the weekend is much more important and a must win given our next league game after that is away at Villa.

I assumed playing Eriksen last weekend was to give him a brief cameo while we integrate Ugarte and rest Mainoo. But he’s started 3 games in a week. It’s like Ten Hag forgot about him. Based on that he’ll probably start this one too?

    —————— —Onana—————
    Mazroui—De Ligt—Martinez—Dalot
    ————-Eriksen——Ugarte—————
    Garnacho——Bruno———-Rashford
    ———————Hojlund————————-

We must start with a win because the away matches against Porto and Fenerbahce will be surely not so easy.

    Bayinder
Mazraoui - Maguire - de Ligt - Dalot
    Casemiro - Ugarte
    Antony - Mount - Rashford
    Hojlund

Yeah I quite like that for rotation. Except for Anthony being in there, but that’s just because I can’t stand Anthony.

Keep De Ligt, Mazraoui, Mainoo, Eriksen and Garnacho fresh for Tottenham. This should be the game to try out Zirkzee and Hojlund. Drop Bruno because he deserves dropping. Let Casemiro come in from the cold to play with Ugarte. This team should have plenty.

    Bayindir
    Collyer
    Dalot
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Ugarte
    Amad
    Casemiro
    Hojlund
    Zirkzee
    Rashford

I want to see a midfield three of Mainoo, Ugarte and Eriksen or Mount at some point.

    Bayindir
    Mazraoui Maguire Evans Dalot
    Casemiro Ugarte
    Antony Mount Rashford
    Hojlund

I'd like to see Bayindir start in our cup competitions, with Onana coming in for the later rounds if we draw a big team.

We also need to manage De Ligt and Martínez carefully, so hopefully we can rest them. Collyer might not be ready to start out of position against a decent side, Mazraoui and Dalot can keep their spots for now. Is Malacia in the squad for this game? If so, one of Collyer or Malacia could come on later as a substitute.

I was hoping Ugarte would start against Palace, but since he didn’t, he’s nailed on to start here. Bruno should be dropped, and Eriksen could use a rest, so Mount should get the chance to play in the No. 10 role. Keep the rotation going for the other three attacking spots as well.

And for the love of God, please score some goals. Show us there’s real progress and not another false dawn.

Completely disagree about the 'need' for rotation, or prioritising the league game.

It's just as important that we win on Wednesday, given our next EL matches are Porto and Fenerbahce away.

Just saw their most recent game and the name Ricky Van Wolfswinkel on the scoresheet. Seem to remember Norwich signing him and everyone heralding it as a great deal for them, but he barely scored a single goal.

To be fair, he did have a decent record at Sporting. I guess the Premier League gets the best or worst out of Dutch players.

I would like to see Amass and Collyer start in this and it would be good if Rasmus and Mason could play a decent part as well.

Only just noticed this game is on Wednesday instead of Thursday. Guessing that's cause of the new format to the competition

Really think we need to change the team up, Dalot, Mainoo, Eriksen & Maz somehow now a rest and Bruno needs dropping for some form, I'd go with:

    Bayindir
    Maguire Evans De Ligt Amass
    Casemiro Ugarte
    Amad Zirzkzee Garnacho
    Hojlund

Would consider Rashford for Amad but I rate Amad so highly

Me as well. Top and bottom of it this is the easiest route into the Champions League next season.

I’ll admit I’ve not looked massively into this new format, but I’d be surprised if finishing bottom qualified us for the Champions League.

Twente is comparable with a mid table Championship club. Ajax, PSV and Feyenoord are the only dutch clubs who would play PL in the UK.
