He played him in that midweek friendly against Sheffield United so I doubt that's the reason. It would be nice to see Greenwood get more than a 5 minute cameo though.

I envisage a few changes from the Wolves game.
The back 4 will remain as they were, but I expect Pogba to start more advanced with Matic and McTominay in the CM positions.
Front 3 of Martial, Rashford and Mata.
Just my feeling - not what I want.

Why would we go more defensive than we did against Chelsea and Wolves? Oles clearly setting us up as two centre mids doing the work and a number 10 playing off Martial! I expect the team will be virtually identical to Wolves but maybe Greenwood in for James

I just feel he will rotate a bit. We have a good record at home to Palace. No reason why we shouldn't rotate.

I would like Lingard to be dropped but that just means more of Mata. I see no minutes for Gomes and maybe 10 for Greenwood if winning comfortably. Don’t think this game will be as straight forward as most predict though. 2-1

Well in that case it would be nice to see Pogba next to McTominay and Gomes in the 10 but that's never happening, hopefully Pereira to come in then. Just no Lingard or Mata and I'm happy.

It's gonna be all about trying to break-down Palace, who I expect will camp in their box (while it's 0-0 at least)

Gomes would be ideal for his technique and dribbling in close-quarters, but I'm not convinced he'll play yet.

Maybe a line-up like this?

De Gea
Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
McTominay Pogba
Mata Pereira Rashford
Martial

Then hopefully after we score and Palace come out of their shell, we can bring James on to get behind their defence.

(That's the plan anyway)

But to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Ole sticks with Lingard.

Axel is now obviously the back up CB and Young can cover both fullback decisions. Darmian, Rojo and Smalling have been bombed out it seems, Jones in and out of the squad. Dalot and Bailly injured. He really needs to sell Darmian and Rojo if you aren't going to use them what is the point of them being here.

Couldve gone with greenwood on the right..

Went with axel starting and wingbacks pushing up.

There is no way we are lining up like that.. I don't expect us to.. just a xi I wouldn't mind seeing.

That's just too defensive for a home game against Palace who knows Lingard may surprise us all today he is due a performance even with his lowly standard.

I like Jesse but on form should drop to the bench. That said I don't think it will do too much good popping Mata in as we would miss Lingard's movement and runs which open up spaces for others.

I'd love to see Gomes come in but don't think we will and think if Jesse does drop out Mata will sit in behind.

We can surely sell one of Smalling/Jones in January if someone is keen? They are clearly not in Ole's plans. Jones preferably, plus try and shift Rojo in the next week or so.
