it’s more than realistic. Hopefully he starts
It's very unrealistic ffs. He's an 18-year old kid who only just arrived into a new country having never played outside Mali. He's not like Yoro who has a full season of professional football under his belt already in another big league.

Yep, would be a very strange choice to start Kone. I'd be surprised if he was in the matchday squad at all.

He's a raw kid with no big league / European experience who has been signed for the future, not for the first team right now.

I'm sure he'll have a good few run outs at the younger levels (mainly U21's) before any decision is made about him getting any senior time. And even then I wouldn’t be surprised if it's initially a loan elsewhere.

Completely agree. It's very optimistic to think he'll be in the squad tomorrow.

Was it against Newport last season where he scored and celebrated like he'd just scored against Madrid?

I remember he was gloating after we beat Coventry on penalties too

Not to come across as some kind of Antony apologist but, Coventry were giving it stacks (as would be expected of an underdog) and were trying to rile up the players and United fans. Antony bit back when it blew up in their face.

That doesn’t bother me too much. Yeah he could’ve been classy as the €100m signing of the PL team, but if they were going to dish it out they should be prepared to take it too. It’s a competitive sport and they ran us close. I’m not going to be upset that one of our players felt some passion about getting us into a cup final.

May as well pack it in then and fold the club.

Just beat Southampton 3-0 away and you think we'd struggle to beat a league one side? Of course there could be a cup upset but no need to be so negative.
This is how the past 2 years have been going. We win 1 week then lose the best then draw the following and rinse and repeat. If we play full strength then yes we can win “easily” but not with a rotated side.

Another good game for us, help us play our way into some form. I would play De Ligt, Zirkzee, Ugarte, all the new signings for 90 minutes, get them some more game time and (hopefully) get an experience of winning a match at Old Trafford. It's their home ground now.

I would rest Bruno and Dalot. I would play Rashford (because we need him to keep scoring) and Garnacho. Don't know how you play the both of them and Zirkzee.

    Yep, completely agree.
I wasn't surprised the media tried to find another thing to slag us off about, but was disappointed to see so many of our own fans use it as a stick to bash Antony with.

As you say, Coventry gave it out and I wasn't disappointed to see one of ours show some passion and give it back after such a tense and important game. Underdogs haven't got some kind of exclusive pass for cnutish behaviour. If they're happy enough to give it out, they should be prepared to recieve some back.

The Coventry goal scorer cupped his ears to the United fans, after banging in his penalty. When they were knocked out, Antony did it back to him.

I had no issue with it, but it only takes one knob on social media to take something out of context and others join in.

Play Amad at the 10. Case and Ugarte behind him. Mainoo needs a rest too

I'd take the opportunity to rest some players.

    Bayindir
    Mazraoui - Evans - Maguire - Amass
    Collyer - Casemiro
    Antony - Eriksen - Garnacho
    Rashford

Said it at the weekend, there was loads coming out with the most miserable shite about the Southampton game, expecting a shit performance and a loss. They must have been gutted when Onana saved the penalty and Utd went in 2-0 up at half time.

Genuinely have no idea how people can enjoy football with such miserably low expectations. It must make it such a chore.

Play Amad at the 10. Case and Ugarte behind him. Mainoo needs a rest too

I'd do this too, Casemiro at 8, Ugarte at 6. Ideally this is the kind of game where Mount should have played at 10, but injury prevents. If we play Amad at 10, it allows us to start both Antony and Garnacho, both of whom need the game time.

Would have been a perfect game for Yoro too, but I don't think we'll see much of him before Xmas sadly.

    I think

    ................... Onana

    Mazraoui - Maguire - Evans - Dalot

    ............ Ugarte - Eriksen

    ............... Fernandes

    Amad - Rashford - Garnacho

Only a home game against Burnley in Carabao Cup but even here Lindelof will only get a place on bench probably. But guess he could get some minutes on either of fullback positions.

    1) It is Barnsley.
    2) Lindelöf is injured.

thanks for info, I just don't even know anymore who's injured and who's not. Thought Shaw and Hojlund would be back immediately after International break but that's not happening either.

    Bayinder
    Dalot Maguire Evans Amass
    Casemiro Collyer
    Antony Zirkzee Garnacho
    Rashford

Rest majority, get some minutes on our fringe players, with Rashford up top to hopefully grab one or two for confidence. Zirkzee in there as I imagine he’ll be rotating with Hojlund who is just about back.

No need to risk Mazr, De ligt or Martinez - who all came off on weekend with cramp/knocks etc.

Ugarte to come off the bench again, with scope to start him vs. Palace on the weekend.

I’d like to see us resting practically every regular after looking at how frequent the fixtures are coming up.
That’s my take. Bruno looked tired on Saturday for instance.

I agree, although I actually think Amass/Collyer would have had a chance tomorrow if the start to the season had gone a bit differently. Mainly not having already lost two games, and players' fitness being further ahead. But players who are expected to feature more as squad players need minutes and we probably have a few too many knocks lingering from the Southampton game that I'd be surprised if any youth players get much more than 20 minutes. If we are cruising a 2-0 or more lead, I'd hope that EtH will give them some minutes.
Why would knocks from the last game reduce the odds of youth players getting in? Seems like it should be the opposite.

I'm all for Eriksen, Casemiro, Antony, Evans, etc getting minutes to stay fresh/happy. But it makes no sense to start a banged up Mazroui/Martinez when we have a big game coming up in a few days. Barnsley is a gimme. For me it's:

    Onana / Bayinder
    Dalot, Evans, Maguire, Amass
    Ugarte, Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Antony, Zirkzee, Garnacho

Presuming a healthy lead I'd sub in Collyer and Wheatley as soon as I could.

Absolutely no need to play Bruno/Mainoo but you can bet your life that they’ll play. Apart from the keeper, he unnecessarily played our strongest team against Newport last season.

Completely agree. It's very optimistic to think he'll be in the squad tomorrow.
I think he should be in the squad. This is probably the easiest game of the season. Whether he will get a run out is a different question

Players that should start are Antony, Ugarte, De Ligt, Evans, Collyer and Garnacho

    I'd go with

    Bayindir

    Mazraoui De Ligt Evans Amass
    Ugarte Collyer
    Eriksen
    Antony Zirkzee Garnacho

I'd 100% rest de ligt. Licha and Mazraoui. No point taking risks with Palace on Saturday. De ligt even spoke about it being a while since playing 3 games so close together. Mainoo looks like he could use at least being sub too, bring him on when the games secure. An Ugarte, Collyer, Casemiro midfield would help us dominate the middle of the park, and given how Zirkzee drops back we wouldn't need anyone playing as a no10. Start Rash and Antony (confidence booster against a lower league team) and we've got the pace to break from the wide areas.

    Bayindir

    Dalot Maguire Evans Amass
    Collyer Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Antony Zirkzee Garnacho

Get Hojlund and Fletcher in if we are winning comfortably. If Antony is he usual crap get Williams in

I’d like to see Urgate get some minutes. I expect he will rotate some but will keep some of our first players in there. Bruno will likely play still.

I feel like there's players such as Ugarte, Evans, Antony, even Garnacho who need more minutes as the odds are higher that they'll play more throughout the season.

Amass has the biggest chance due to full back injuries and the fact that the knocks were mainly to Mazraoui and Martinez who could deputize at Left Back. However, from EtH's presser is sounds like everyone who was subbed/took a knock against Southampton was OK yesterday, so the availability for Barnsley is the same as against Saints.

I would hope Martinez is rested though!

    Bayindir
    Dalot - Magure - Evans - Amass
    Ugarte - Casemiro (Collyier)
    Antony - Eriksen - Garnacho
    Zirkzee (Whitley)

Bayindir, if not now then when?
Mazraou/Dalot. Would give Mazraou a free night. Given his injury reocrd we should be careful not using him when we can be rested
Amass. Might be too much to start with him but we can change him out if it goes bad, but he should be able to cope with the pressure and strength of League 1 players
Ugarte needs game time. Casemiro to help him build up, would go for Collyier but afraid that two new players in midfield could be risky so would let him come in 2nd half depending on game score
Zirkzee, need more time to get into the game. Would shift to Wheatley in 2nd half depending on score

    Bayindir

    Amass
    Evans
    Casemiro
    Dalot

    Collyer
    Ugarte
    Eriksen

    Garnacho
    Wheatley
    Antony

Kone off the bench for Eriksen. Would also be good to rest Dalot, but not sure we have anyone
I'd play Maguire if he's fit but the rest I tend to agree with. Maybe Zirkzee in the hope he gets a goal to boost his confidence.

    3-0

    Antony, Zirkzee and Garna

Reading ETH’s comments it seems he’s had a dig at Antony over his training performances.

I’d go with Casemiro and Ugarte to start in CM, with Collyer coming on as a sub at some point.
Definitely rest Mainoo and Bruno for this one.
I’m not a fan of his, but I suspect he’ll give Antony a chance either as a starter or sub.
