Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • When I see this team beat the likes of Liverpool and City convincingly in the league, and go on a decent run of wins, in the league, then I will be a little more positive.
At the moment, we can only beat teams that are deemed inferior, this win is nothing to shout about, it was expected United would win, and win comfortably.
There are no positives in soundly beating a team a full two divisions below you.
There are not positives from Onana making one good save, when he makes up for it with 5 mistakes.
Life is full of opinions, mine is different from yours, move on, get over it.

This is a very strange take. If we're ever beating Liverpool & City convincingly, you should be ecstatic because that will likely mean we are the best team in the league. The fact that we've won a trophy against City only months ago and very nearly won another in the Community Shield, is progress.
We've been 'expecting' to win loads of games comfortably in the past couple of years where we have ended up drawing, losing or scraping by.
There's lots of positives in scoring the most goals in a game for over 3 years & keeping a clean sheet.

There is clear progress. Yes, it's not as quick as you would like maybe, but it is there. I see no reason for being blindly negative for no reason - celebrate the wins, you'll be much happier.

Off topic: The current negativity trend reminds me very much of 90s City fans. They can't even enjoy their success now because United's scarred them for life. I'm seeing similarities in our fans who can't enjoy a good result, or good goal, or even a good move just because we're not currently competing with City, Arsenal & Liverpool. I feel sorry for those fans.

I am ecstatic when we beat them, however it seems we can only beat them when there is likelihood of large win bonus. when it comes down to the bread and butter games we fail to turn up.
I love the contradiction in your post, which proves my point, we beat them in a cup final, and only several weeks later lose in the Charity Shield game.

I will re-iterate, I would hazard a guess that most of the top 6 clubs in the prem would have beaten Barnsley by a similar score and kept a clean sheet, but for us it's a golden moment, its an epiphany, a lot of fans really have settled for mediocrity under ETH.

No, I'm ok with that when I t happens. More the lack of tolerance for hyperbolic nonsense.
Ah, another case of "I'm always right" even when I'm hit by a counter argument that proves I'm wrong, yeah, I wouldn't discuss football in the pub either if I was like that.
Better to stay on a forum where you are anonymous.

We aren't actually engaged in a discussion or argument but dismissing teams with nonsensical clichés is not adding anything to the discussion.

Ah Ok, so using a cliché, even when it's true, is now nonsense.
Here's another, "Drowning man clutches at straw"

It's only a 'golden moment' (your words and nobody else's) in that it's a marked improvement. Nobody thinks this is the final destination, just maybe a sign were not as appalling as we have been.

You're in cuckooland if you think anyone is settling for being better than Barnsley.

If they were you'd have a point, as they're not you're just wasting everyone's time.

You haven't read all of the posts, some on here are looking at it in exactly the way you say they are not.
Then when a realist pops up, everyone shoots at him/her.
Thrashing Barnsley is not a defining moment, it's not a good performance, it's not even an improvement, the game was exactly like a training match against lesser opposition.
The only positives from it is that some players got playing time they needed.

The bolded bits are just not true.

Not entirely sure how it's a contradiction? We were better in both games and lost it in the last minutes - it happens! We didn't exactly get pumped in both games did we?

Completely disagree with your second point - no one else beat their lower league opposition by such a convincing margin did they? Fulham went out to theirs & Spurs needed two post 90 minute goals to beat Coventry. Absolutely no one has settled for mediocrity or is treating this as a golden moment - just positive that we won convincingly.

Anyway, I've grasped from just a couple of your posts that your opinion is stubborn and you won't change - meeting everyone with aggression, so no need to reply to me. You just enjoy being miserable I guess :+1:

Since when are points awarded for dominating a game?
Ye but that wasn’t the original argument was it? Stick to the topic mate. You was saying we haven’t improved at all this season when it’s quite clear in our style of play that we have.
