  • Onana
    Dalot - Maguire - Evans - Amass
    Ugarte - Casemiro
    Antony - Bruno - Garnacho
    Rashford
Zirkzee, Amad, Collyer and Wheatley from the bench.

Unfortunately it looks like Mazraoui and Martinez injuries will be enough to keep them out. Maguire seemed to run off his knock but I wouldn't be surprised if he has to miss this either. Was hoping for Maguire & Evans as the CB pairing, but I think it might be Evans at LB to start and a youth defender coming on in the second half. Casemiro might play CB if Maguire's actually injured. Ugarte should start. I don't think they'll be wholesale changes in the forward line though.

Antony, Garnacho, Maguire, Ugarte, Casemiro, Evans have to start this game. Rotate properly.

Amass probably starts, Dalot will start for sure, Bruno also. Any news on Hojlund being back?

You all know he will go with the strongest team yea? No chance we see Amass etc it's not ETHs way
I agree, although I actually think Amass/Collyer would have had a chance tomorrow if the start to the season had gone a bit differently. Mainly not having already lost two games, and players' fitness being further ahead. But players who are expected to feature more as squad players need minutes and we probably have a few too many knocks lingering from the Southampton game that I'd be surprised if any youth players get much more than 20 minutes. If we are cruising a 2-0 or more lead, I'd hope that EtH will give them some minutes.

I would give the fringe players a start but we know on evidence that isn't what Ten Hag does, he wants to keep the team going and ride that form. I think at most we will get 1 or 2 changes from the last match unfortunately, I can see Casemiro for Eriksen, maybe Garnacho for Amad and Maguire gets in somewhere

I think it will be more changes as some are likely forced anyway, but still only 3-4. Mazraoui and Martinez looked to have injuries and I'd be surprised if they're risked in such a short turnaround. My expected back four is Dalot, De Ligt, Maguire, and Evans. I can see one or two changes in midfield and maybe one in attack. Something like:

    Onana
    Dalot De Ligt Maguire Evans
    Casemiro Ugarte
    Amad Bruno Rashford
    Zirkzee

Garnacho may get a start, but Amad has created the most chances for us this season, Rashford finally scored so it will be a big confidence boost if he can bag again so I wouldn't mind him keeping his place. Garnacho has been really good as an impact sub as well with 2 goals and 1 assist in 4 sub appearances. Should have been 3 goals if not for Zirkzee being unable to get out of the way. Would like to see Amass, Collyer, Garnacho, and Antony from the bench if we can put the game to bed early (we really need to start doing this).

Can't see Barnsley without hearing it in Mick McCarthy's voice. You baassterrdss.

    Should hammer these.

    5-0 Utd.

Hopefully we can use this fixture to build more confidence and cohesion. Don't think this is the time to play a bunch of youngsters. Just do a bit of rotation and try to get some goals for the forwards.

Seeing as our Under-21s beat Barnsley in the EFL Trophy last month (albeit a slightly weaker Barnsley), with Collyer especially looking pretty good, I could see him starting and maybe Amas as well. They should be very easily brushed aside.

Why do we know that ? When we played Palace in the 3rd round last season - Bruno, Rashford and Højlund were all on the bench - we started with Pellistri, Mejbri, Amrabat and Martial. Hardly not our strongest side. When we played Newcastle in the next round - the following were on the bench: McTominay, Højlund, Bruno, Rashford, Eriksen and Wan Bissaka

This is Barnsley at home at a time when we are struggling with injuries.

I kind of expect this to be our side:

Onana - Amass, Maguire, Evans, Dalot - Collyer, Ugarte, Casemiro - Garnacho, Zirkzee, Antony,

Fair response but they played a weakened side too, Collyer may get some time but I'd imagine it's from the bench and Amass hasn't even made the bench yet despite us not having a spare full back.

Expecting a strong team as it's our best chance at silverware, should be able to see Barnsley off even with a few players out but it's early into the season so may as well play full first XI.

Do you start Rashford and hope he makes in 2 goals in 2 games?

Garnacho needs a game and Amad could sit this one out so he's ready for CP at the weekend.

We will see tomorrow - but I am convinced we will rest 4-5 players

I’d like to see us resting practically every regular after looking at how frequent the fixtures are coming up.

    Onana
    Dalot De Ligt Evans Amass
    Amad Ugarte Casemiro Rashford
    Eriksen
    Zirkzee

Bench: Bayindir, Garnacho, Bruno, Hojlund, Mainoo, Collyer, Maguire, Ogunneye

Prime chance to give Ugarte, Amass and possibly Hojlund minutes and rest Mainoo, Mazz and Martinez for Palace

We have to give minutes to the squad and I think he will. I still don't see Amass starting though. Good chance himself collyer and weathley are brought on if we are bossing it.

Return for Casemiro and Antony. Most probably a start for Garnacho. Yeah this will be a nice way to get plenty of minutes into the fringe players and for the first time in forever once everyone is back we have a stacked high quality squad with really solid youth pushing through. I’m looking forward to seeing the rotation we’ve sorely lacked the last few years. I think with this current squads attributes and depth we’d probably have challenged for the league and not fallen off in ETHs first season. He just needs to get them playing and believing now.

Couldn't care any less about Mickey Mouse cup by this point. Real match is on Saturday. Still, shouldn't be losing to Barnsley. Hoping to see a different squad. It's a long season.

We could field a pretty strong side on Tuesday night.

    Bayindir
    Amass
    Dalot
    Maguire
    Evans
    Casemiro
    Ugarte
    Eriksen
    Garnacho
    Antony
    Zirksee or Wheatley

Maybe Colleyer will start instead of Eriksen and Casemiro ahead of Maguire if he's injured from today.
Under this system and this manager no team really is a strong team. We will struggle and maybe win 1-0.

May as well pack it in then and fold the club.

Just beat Southampton 3-0 away and you think we'd struggle to beat a league one side? Of course there could be a cup upset but no need to be so negative.

Amass is obviously the youngster who we’d like to get some game time here along with Wheatley. Other than that, I would like Jack Fletcher to be in the squad, I don’t think he’s that far off getting into the fringes of the team.

Other than that, I expect Antony, Garnacho, Ugarte, Collyer, Evans to get starts. Bit of a guess after that.

Give Bayindir a go in goals. Let the 4 defenders work together again (Nobody should be tired at this stage of the season anyway). Give Ugarte much needed minutes. Let Antony and Garnacho show what they can do. Let Casemiro play further up the pitch. Hopefully Zirkzee gets a goal and let this be one of the few games Bruno sits out.

    Bayindir
    Mazraoui
    Dalot
    De Ligt
    Martinez
    Ugarte
    Antony
    Casemiro
    Zirkzee
    Eriksen
    Garnacho

But I hope we do see Amass get the start. Yes I know it was only pre-season, but he looked fantastic in pre-season. And if he were playing on a regular basis it would be against clubs of the competitive level of Barnsley, not Arsenal.

Its Ten Hag, I dont think Collyer or Amass will start.

Collyer might get a few minutes off the bench.

    Bayindir

    Amass
    Evans
    Casemiro
    Dalot

    Collyer
    Ugarte
    Eriksen

    Garnacho
    Wheatley
    Antony

Kone off the bench for Eriksen. Would also be good to rest Dalot, but not sure we have anyone
