You dont play your best players in a highly competitive game against your biggest rivals when they arent match fit, doing that is highly likely to get them injured.

Would you rather play these ”unfit players” in the Premier League match? You think that won’t be a highly competitive game? Why would the risk of injury not be present in that match?

What about the Rosenborg match? Using your logic we couldn’t have played anyone as they were not match fit.

Anyway as I said we have a squad. 18 players, easy. Some of them are not able to play 90 minutes and that’s what you have six subs for.

Imagine if we played Martinez for the full 90 minutes and he picks up an injury. What would we be quoted for centre back targets, with only one fit 36 year old centre back absolutely desperate for reinforcements.

Play Casemiro there. I don't care about the result.

I’ll volunteer my services in any position. When United make the call, I’ll be ready.

I would rather the players who didnt take part in pre-season not get thrown straight in to a high profile tough match with a high risk of them getting injured, we should have scheduled a couple of behind closed doors friendlies at Carrington against lesser opposition to get them a run out and up to speed in time for the Fulham game.

Oh bugger, it's all set to start again.

I've been enjoying basking in being FA Cup winners and not seeing our players dropping like flies.

No surprise to see it start like it no doubt means to go on - with injury issues at #9 and in defence. It's like it never went away!

They could just as well get injured in those behind closed doors friendlies? Plus I’d say they are closer to match fitness than the other ones were at the start of pre-season as they’ve played fairly recently.

The profile of the match doesn’t really affect injury proneness in my opinion.

Quite a few of them will probably start on the bench. Or are you saying that say 30 minutes on Saturday is still more risky than 45-60 minutes next week in a BCD-friendly?

Chill out. Doesn't matter if it's a pre-season game or a competitive game our players get injured anyway as seen by the amount of injuries we picked up during pre-season. I'd rather play our best players as that gives us the best chance of winning and they need match practice too, if they get injured, they get injured. It is what it is. FFS, Yoro got injured even when he was only doing half sessions as we were trying to protect him.

Is this that team we dunked on in the final a couple months back?

I’m still dining out on the final.

Shame it has to end, I don’t want football to come back.

It would be the dumbest decision in the world to look at this as anything more then a pre season friendly... Particularly if we start risking the players who came back late from holiday..

Hopefully our new box-to-box Italian beast of a midfielder signing, Scottioto McTominazzi will get a run out. Although I have a feeling that mustache he's sporting may be false!

    Ten Hag on injuries

"Harry Maguire missed the game (vs Liverpool), was a precaution but is still a question mark for Saturday. So we have training, we have to see whether he is fit enough or not to be available. Victor [Lindelof] played but also he's a question mark and also Azza [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] and Luke Shaw are both question marks, we have to assess them tomorrow (Friday)."

Same injury prone players as usual being injury doubts for the new season isn't exactly surprising. That's why we need to sell a lot of these and replace them with players who can stay fit.

So with all our injuries the starting XI will probably be something like

    Onana

    Dalot Casemiro Evans Armass

    Collyer McTominay

    Mount

    Antony Sancho Rashford

The squad list needs an update. Shoretire is gone and Amass may very well start on Saturday. Would the nice if the latter was available for the line-up prediction. Wheatley, Collyer and Bennett could be involved as well.

Play ALL of our scrubs/ deadwood. They ain't going anywhere anyway. Are any wages covered by insurance when a player is injured? Asking for a fiend.

    -----------------Onana
