4-0 City, which will include a clown show from the fool in goal

Christ. We only have 3 defenders traveling - Evans, Maguire & Martinez

I am nervous about Amass. That lad that they brought (in a totally normal and not suspicious deal) from themselves will be looking to make an impact and was brilliant last season by all accounts.

He probably won't start. He was with Brazil at the Copa. Bobb is more likely to start but still it's going to be a good test for Amass as Bobb had an incredible pre-season and it looks like this could be his breakthrough year.

I think we all hope that, pal.

And I think the new directors will improve things, but we probably won't see that really bear fruit until next summer. You have to remember that Ashworth and Berrada didn't start until July, the recruitment guy (Vivell I think?) came in after them. I think they've actually done well to get Yoro and Zirkzee in, as there was plenty of competition for this signatures, and they tried their best to move guys on.

SJR and INEOS said it would be 3 years until we were challenging, probably because they've seen the state of the clubs finances and the contracts these guys are on. I know people don't want to believe that, but they're not saying it for no reason.

There are things to be optimistic about though. Like, there is actually movement on a new stadium! We'll have a proper transfer strategy next summer, more contracts will expire anyway too. Can you imagine where we'd be right now if Woodward was still running the show and the Glazers were still burning money like it grows on trees?! Doesn't bear thinking about.
    :+1: Well put sir.

Qualcomm saved a spot for Microsoft on Manchester United’s new jersey.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon sponsorship deal with Manchester United will go beyond the front of the jerseys. During select matches this season, Qualcomm can also extend its branding to the rear of Manchester United’s new jerseys. Qualcomm has selected Microsoft’s Copilot Plus logo for the FA Community Shield match tomorrow, its key ally in making Windows on Arm a reality.

Fair enough, just looked at their squad and they are mostly second string also.

Also just like mentioning that Savinho transfer as it doesn't get talked about nearly enough, crooked as anything.

The state of our squad is a disgrace. I really hope no risks are taken with key players tomorrow or it could be a horrendous start to the season

I hope they all play, you know - in the name of being fit for the start of the season?

    ------------------Onana
    Dalot--Maguire--Evans--Amass
    ----------------Casemiro
    --------Mctominay--Mount
    --Amad-----Sancho----Rashford

Subs : Martinez, Mainoo, Fernandes, Zirkzee, Garnacho

I hope we play our best 11 at least for the first half. We need to give them minutes together before the Fulham game.

…… I expected quite a bit considering all the hype about our new board of directors, ……

…. I think the new directors will improve things, ….

Just a point of order guys.
The board of directors is largely the same, with just the two INEOS appointees, John Reece (Co-owner of INEOS) and Rob Nevin, joining.
The 6 members of the Glazer family and 2 long standing independent directors remain in place.

Are you confusing the board with the changes to the executive and management team, such as Omar Berrada, Roger Bell and the various new characters in the football management team?

Yeah I think we're both talking about the executive team, rather than the actual board.

How is this already here? PL game 7 days from now too.

    It's too soon.

Yeah, definitely feels way too soon.

With more, and ever extended, summer tournaments it never really feels like it's ever stopped anymore. You're still watching United players playing all over the place, hoping they don't get injured for their international teams, and just as that finally ends, the United friendlies begin!

He played most of the Copa America and then had a couple of weeks off. He should be fine.
Yup. They give them three weeks to recover. He's not gonna lose fitness, he's gonna feel a heck of a lot better. Beside, he can always come off at 60... or even 45. This game means little for us.

The feck is wrong with him? What kind of knee injury did he sustain?
Malacia seems to be the second coming of Phil Jones. Something bad must have happened, and I fear that it's the club's fault.

I know, I've been a bit disengaged with football recently but I only realised this games was being played this weekend yesterday. It's only today, I realised that the game is tomorrow rather than Sunday.

Hopefully we can put in a good performance to bring some positive momentum into the season.

The season has been restarting far too early for at least the last decade.
Maybe since the Premier League started?

Going back, the first game of the season was usually on the August bank holiday weekend.
    The last weekend in August.
With the season curtain raiser, the Charity Shield, now the Community Shield, a week before on Saturday.
Our pre-season friendlies started at the beginning of August.

The season ended the weekend before the FA Cup final, which was usually on the first or 2nd Saturday in May.

Players had a couple of months off to recuperate and competitions like the WC and Euros had less of an impact on those who were involved.

I see the FA was forced to change the Ref for this match due to injury. Jarred Gillett has replaced John Brooks, Gillett is the same bucko who gave those marshmallow soft penalties to Chelsea against United back in April. Meanwhile United had never lost a match with Brooks in charge.

Hopefully City take this as seriously as they did the FA cup final.

It still beggars belief that we’re nervously looking at the injury list and the season hasn’t even started yet

They will take it less seriously. They have some important players missing too and haven’t won the community shield for 4 years.

    Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Eriksen, Hannibal.
Not in the 21 man squad. All 4 of them last year contracts with no +1 option.
A signal for them to step up search for a new club?
