  • Why is calling it off an advantage for us? They will be strong in a couple of weeks still
We get more time to get familiar with the system (amorim has just had his first full week with the squad without games I believe) and also if we can build some sort of run before playing them, our confidence will be a lot higher.

So you want a postponement where the fixture may put us into a jam packed schedule later in the season? This is actually the ideal time to play them: a week break for training sessions and likely a big response from the team after a terrible run of fixtures. Absolutely embarrassing that some on here are clamouring for a postponement.

I don't know about a likely big response. But I'm fine with it being postponed if it's reckless to not do so. We'll just get two weeks training instead and can focus on squad building as well, without creating terrible headlines for a few days. I also think we're more likely to beat Arsenal away than Liverpool at this stage, so that could be an interesting game before the fixtures become more forgiving.

We might even have a balanced side soon enough with an actual left wing-back.

I think it would be pushed back more than a couple of weeks. They still haven't rescheduled the Merseyside Derby from last month.

I think it would wind up being March or April if it was called off. By which point Livepool will already be league champions and we might not be on a 5 match losing streak.

We are out of the Carabao cup , we will be out of the FA cup next weekend. Embarassing by people wanting to this game to go ahead after one of the worst runs by us since records began knowing there’s a hammering incoming. We need a break and get a few wins under us and then play them while at the same time they are still in 4 competitions plus having 2 less PL games played. That will be the time we could catch them.

The first time I’ve ever been desperate for a United match to be called off.

We desperately need a weekend off, more training time, regroup etc.

Play this one again in April time please

Long shot for it to be on tomorrow. Not a bad thing at the moment. Another week before Southampton and play them later in the season when we’re possibly less shit.

Is the weather that bad over in the UK?

Sky will push hard for it to be played. United/Liverpool is the biggest match in England and they'll get a week worth of news with the fallout from it.

Really hope it's called off. It'll be played then when Liverpool have a very big fixture congestion of important games where our important games seem to now only be cup games.
We MAY have some sort of form when the rescheduled date comes rather than a number of losses.

It really is not embarrassing at all, they'll have more weeks to get familiar with the system because of more training sessions which means we have a better chance of getting a result in the game than now.

Well if it's a month and half/ two months away, you'd think we'd be in better form than we are now for example. It's not an advantage for us, just gives us a better chance.

We're also (hopefully) at our lowest point and they'll suffer even more fixture congestion than us. Don't really see how postponement isn't massively in our favour

If the game can be played... I say play it. I am not afraid of Liverpool, nor are I afraid to take an L. Honestly, all the pressure in the world is on Liverpool.

We havent scored in 3 games I think?
Havent played well since the City game.
If itis snowy or wet and miserable, we might get some lucky bounces and things go our way....
You never know in the snow!!!

This is absolutely not the ideal time to play them

In what world is it an ideal time to play them? Mate if we’re looking for a big response then it needed to be after the first loss to spurs which started this run. Not 4 losses later. Liverpool will just destroy us whilst we’ve got no confidence what so ever.

I hate games that are postponed but here is hoping for the first time it happens. I'm really scared that they could get double digits. We are that bad and that low in confidence.

May I recommend you get a grip.

Even if we were a standard 14th place side (we aren't), would you expect Palace to lose 10-0? Hyperbole.

We might have a few decent players signed by the time it's rescheduled.

Our players might be in better form and more comfortable with the system.

Liverpool or Salah's form might have dipped a bit (they're at their peak right now).

Loads of reasons to want to called off!

Yeah more familiarity with the system is one of the main reasons I hope it gets postponed, also the fact we are exceptionally low on confidence now

Snow doesn't look bad at all currently, a light dusting. Weather warning was from 6pm until noon in scouseland, so at 3:30am would think they'd have a lot by now if they were ever going to.

It's barely freezing too, 0C, expected to sit right around 1C most of the day from about 9am onwards. It would have a hard time settling.

Completely non-expert hat on, I don't think there's too much threat of this being called off.

A couple of webcams if anyone else sad wants to check them out:

About 5 miles north of Anfield - https://www.stampsbar.co.uk/webcam/

    3 miles southwest - https://explore-liverpool.com/explore-liverpool-live/

Think the main concern will be the roads/concerns around fans getting yo to the ground. Those could still be an issue in the conditions you shared.

Agree that would be the main concern, no worry the about pitch etc these days. Just think that once morning comes around and people start walking around on it/cars start driving on it with the small rise in temps it would probably be ok.

That is unless they're specifically considering people travelling from a bit further away. Would expect a few Irish fans to be coming across on the ferry to Holyhead in Wales but the main north Wales road should be alright as it's close to the coast and low down. Maybe people from parts of Lancashire on higher ground?

After that it's just the immediate vicinity, locals walking, or the journey from car park/bus or train stops to the ground. Guess they can take care of the car park and just outside the ground themselves?
