Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Half time, I thought "well this is a close game, we're still in this"

It was just that every time Liverpool touched the ball anywhere near our goal, the ball would fly into the goal. It was a freak result and normally games like that dont end 7-0. In that sense it was a close game

Todays game could very well end up being a game where a 7-0 result would be more realistic (based on the play) than that game. :(

We can't score anyway and where else do you experiment than at Anfield, am I right?
I'd take away one of the attackers to go with a midfield of three instead.

    Onana
    The three at the back
    Amad - Ugarte - Casemiro - Mainoo - Dalot
    Bruno
    Hojlund
    Yeah, agree!

I'm confident that ,even in defeat, we won't be trounced by Liverpool this evening.
I think they'll dominate but the scoreline may read as a tighter game.

For years now I've thought our players would at least always show up for the big games but that belief has drastically been eroded. At least during the Mou and LvG days I thought that no matter how shite we might have been the game before we could still beat anyone regardless. It's been a while since I felt that. May today be the return of at least that.

Going into LVG's first match at Anfield was probably the last time it felt quite so hopeless and that turned into the Juanfield game. Maybe we've got one of those in the bag

Salah thread got deleted so make sure You remember what minute you predicted him to score.

Or just lie and say you predicted that minute.

For some reason we seem to be more adequate away from home so hopefully not a trashing today.

What team we all going for today?

    ————————Onana———————
    ——Yoro———De Ligt—-Maguire——-
    Maz—————Ugarte—————Dalot :(
    —————Mainoo——Bruno——————
    ———Amad——————Hojland
    Zero pace

Please please do not concede a goal in the first 10 mins or so. If we do, I suspect our heads will drop and we’ll get battered.

If we are not losing after 15/20 mins we might get into the game a bit and sneak something by frustrating them.

Midfield of three? I only see two and a half there since Casemiro is about half the player he needs to be. And about a quarter of the player he used to be :(

Happy to give up on dry January to have whatever you're having!

    No you don’t
We have nothing to lose, which I think is factual, and I predict liverpool will go for the jugular from the word go and may get caught by our counter, which is wishful/hopeful/desperate thinking by myself.

I'm going to put 25 quid on us at 6/1 anyway. Stranger things have happened. This United 'team' never fail to amaze me.

Any suggestions as to which speedsters you’d bring in to remedy the problem?

I probably would start Garnacho for that reason. Just to get some legs in there.

But obviously there is that worry about his sloppy play. We don't need that in the first crucial 20mins.

Mate, I sincerely hope that it comes in for you.

Have we ever gone into a game as such massive underdogs? I can't think of any in my lifetime.

What scares me about this Liverpool team is how little possession and chances they need to score. We’ve just seen how easy it is for us to lose while dominating possession and having more chances than the opposition (Forest, Bournemouth). And we’ve seen play them and look generally okay, with a lot of even metrics, and lose the game by 2-3 goals

2 full backs at wing back again. Amorim isn't learning from his mistakes. We'd probably lose regardless, but I'm losing patience with this insistence on playing both Dalot and Mazraoui there

Probably as good line up as we can put together today. Understand why we have to persevere with wing backs we have at Anfield.

Think we lose 3-0 or something, not sure when we last scored at Anfield but wasn’t recent.

Maguire and De Ligt is a mistake I think. Bit too slow. We'd have been better off with Yoro/Mazraoui at RCB I feel.
