  • VAR would have found a stray lock of Zirkzee’s hair was offside to deny us, had that ball gone in.

I admire the courage/recklessness of Amorim to bring Zirkzee on with the game poised like that, but surely there had to be a better option? It’s nice for Zirkzee to out the early sub behind him but he was not what we needed.

Anybody who agreed with extending Maguire by a year on shopping $190/week, that missing of an empty goal on last second is a stark reminder of what a pile of shit he is
Not really his job to be fair, would also help if it wasnt bobbled across

He actually played a ball that was a tap in, if he missed the shot he’d be crucified. Maguire leaves it and Garnacho wins it.
We are playing vs Liverpool, it's a last minute shot and he's in a great position. As the only striker up there then he should take the responsibility for it. If he hates responsibility then he should return to bologna so he can score against some Como or Lecce

Don't the disagree with that but if maguire puts that in he takes a bit of confidence from that. He did the right thing if he plays a nice pass he taps it in. Shame.
Look mate I like a nice dig on Maguire like anyone else but he's a CB. No one can expect him to have the coolness of a striker especially at anfield with just seconds for the game to end. If zirkzee wants safe then he should return to a mid table serie a side

    Newsflash: he ain’t no striker.

Where is the postponement brigade? Absolute jokers and an embarrassment. We should’ve won that but hopefully this point will boost the confidence of the squad.

Yeah it was written in the stars for him to score a last second winner at Anfield. It could have been the turning point in his United career but I think he bottled it by passing it cos his confidence is so low.

It did look a very tight call... no doubt the lines would have been out.

He is, he just pretends that he is not
Again, if Maguire - who is not a forward and is excused - had looked over his shoulder to see Garnacho lurking in acres of space, he dummies that ball and Garnacho scores it. Zirkzee is not now, nor has he ever been, a finisher. Under the circumstances he teed up the game winner, just unfortunately fell to a center back.

Would it have been grand for Maguire to pot that, 100%. The team played very well today, it was actually enjoyable to watch them. I only hope we get this level of commitment for the balance of the season.

I'm not digging out maguire. If the pass was better he would have scored. Also don't disagree on the points regarding zikrzee but he is low on confidence he made the right decision just poor execution.

Man. What a fight for 97 minutes. Maybe Amorim was playing a bit of mind games with the comments that players are anxious and afraid. They absolutely fought for this one and if not for a crap pk, we get all 3 points. I’m not going to drag Maguire for the miss. He, and the rest of the back 3, played about as well as we could hope for. Marking was solid and they did well to compact the center to not allow much of anything come through. Add Mainoo and Ugarte flying around to how well they played in the defensive third. Fernandes was absolutely the captain today and played one of his finest games in a United shirt. I don’t need goals from him. Need him to lead and create. He did just that.

The one thing this game shows me, though, we desperately need a better 9. A proper striker today and we win.

Strikers are there to take the responsibility. Can you imagine RVN pushing the responsibility to score a last minute goal on a kid and a CB?

I think everyone played well, save Garnacho. Not giving us that spark off the bench we desperately need.

Only thing I would have liked more is someone catching Nunez with a forearm shiver after his cheapshot on De Ligt

Did want to point out that all of Bruno's corners played in to the box cleared the first man. Some of the corner plays were very well done. I especially liked the one that was played short and then back to Bruno where he shot first time. Allison was lucky to cough it up back in to touch and not into danger.

I'm having a hard time understanding the penalty decision. The hand of De Ligt is in unnatural position, granted. However, what happened to the proximity aspect? It was literally flicked to his arm from couple of centimeters.

The other part is VAR. My understanding is that VAR is intervening in cases of a clear and obvious errors? Oliver vehemently was showing that it wasn't a penalty and play on, until we went with the ball in the other half and he was called to take a look. There is no way he didn't see the handball when it happened. So it's not something he has missed.
