Good half. Plenty of tenacity in midfield and with Maguire and Mazraoui. Could have been a lot better if Højlund had taken his chance.
Yeah, specifically at 1v1s Alisson is probably the best in the world. At the same time, it was a really tame effort from a player with rock bottom confidence.Incredible how it’s conveniently forgotten that Alisson is one of, if not, the best keepers in the PL
Should have done like JSL against Spurs the other day, just hammer it towards the top. I think it was pretty much the same spot on the pitch.Alisson did well to narrow the angle for the Hojlund chance. The moment he took that touch Alisson was exactly where he needed to be.
It was a one on one but there wasn't much to shoot at.
You saw his face and he had no idea what to do. It was a hit and hope.Hojlund needs to drive that to the near post.
Not sure. We usually only do 1 good half. And since we’ve just had that…So can we. I believe.
It's good to have a bit of balance to the usual media stuff, where Trent tries about 40 crosses a game and 1 or 2 are actually decent. Yet he's relayed as some sort of new age Beckham.Keane
I'd agree. Does everything in midfield. Hope he keeps disciplined, because another yellow card suspension would be brutal. The team is night and day with Ugarte. Arguably are most important player these days.
You said what other club in the league would take Hojlund as their 1st choice striker. Southampton aren’t in the championship (well not yet anyway). They are in the same league as us.My point exactly. Championship #9
It was straight at Allison.
He’s usually good a tweaking things for them at HTCurious to see what Slot will do.
Haha, the Hojlund brigade can't take any criticism, always someone elses fault. That is just so wrong. We have the lowest chance creation in the league during big the last month so no there are not loads of chances out there and a striker who puts away 1 in 5 would be a massive downgrade from Rasmus considering his chance conversion rate throughout his career. Just admit you are a hater and move on.
Imagine paying this much for a striker to then let him go on loan to develop. How pathetic is this clubYep. Or a loan.
Agree then. Have a good game !Exactly my point
Perhaps weakness link was unfair as Amad and Rasmus have been poor, but his role in CM is a liability defensively. His good moments have come from higher up the pitch.
We've become the game raising cnuts we hated Liverpool to be a couple of years ago but fair fecks to the players, they are doing more than decently. Game is cagey though, the longer we can keep them out the more likely a sucker punch.
Hard to agree to be honest - why did Hojlund not head for the near post for the Fernandes cross? He carried on behind the defender never once even looking like he would even think that getting in front of the defender might be what was best. He lacks that instinct, that killer movement and touch. That is just so wrong. He was a number 8/10 hybrid back then. No one saw this enforcer/deep progressive carrier type coming. Why didn't the bald guy try to sign Gravenberch?
Bossed the midfield. The moment he kept hold of the ball whilst having a few players around him. That was a 9/10 half from Ugarte.
I'm worried that the missed chances will come back bite us in the arse hard. As good as the defense are, they'll need to maintain it for the rest of the game because Højlund just isn't up for it tonight.
But that was a pretty good first half!
Mainoo is our weakness link, positionally and passing have been poor, players go past him with ease except for one sliding tackle he won.

Exactly. Let's see what he can do under these conditions. He’s usually good a tweaking things for them at HT

Maz is a central defender in this system. He just dosen’t have the stamina to play wingback. It’s really shocking seeing people criticize Dalot after this half of football. He’s been one of our best players.
Meanwhile Maz is offering nothing going forward on the right, and his inability to create space for Amad by stretching the play wide is also impeding what Amad can do.
Everything good we did offensively was on the left side and there is a reason Bruno and Dalot are finding a lot of space, and Amad and Maz none. It’s been the case for the past few games.
Bruno's been okay but just unbelievably frustrating. Ugarte was definitely our best player, you're right there.
Made some amazing goals last year.
We made 14 tackles that half, Liverpool made 0.I’m glad we’re putting in some meaty tackles too without gooning it up. Been tough and aggressive and legal so far.
Honestly it's frustrating how little of the ball amaf gets, they are blocking that pass constantly. It’s really shocking seeing people criticize Dalot after this half of football. He’s been one of our best players.

Thanks, I have.Laugh all you like, but as a CM he has been poor. Most of his good moments have come from higher up the pitch.
