Yeah 1-0 Wayne Rooney with the only goal and shot on target United had. DeGea was MOTM with a few fine saves.
Yep, the only shot we had on goal that day. And then LVG came out and said everything went perfectly to plan. Horrendous plan it was.

What is going on with Merson & Sutton they are predicting us to win this game

Playing our 4th game in 11 days across 4 different competitions, having won the previous 3, including a cup final win and knocking Barcelona out of Europe. Anfield.

Head says it would be too good to be true but if we win this one you begin to wonder when we will ever lose again!

Either Bruno right and Weghorst behind Rashford and Garnacho left or Rashford left with Weghorst upfront. Either way we need to have a go at their right side.
Rashford is used to torturing TAA.

Yuge game. Derby pride aside, we need to go and win there if we want to keep a toe in the title race and make top 4 more certain. If we lose, we’ll be 14 points behind Arsenal and only 7 ahead of Liverpool. The title race would be over and top 4 race would be back on.

    DDG
    AWB—Varane—Martinez—Shaw
    Case—Fred
    Bruno—Weghorse—Sancho
    Rashford

Second half you can bring Antony and Garnacho on for Weggie and Sancho, moving Bruno to 10. We’ll have an injection of pace and directness from the wings.

Alternatively, Antony starts over Sancho with Sancho and Garnacho being kept on the bench as impact subs.

Would certainly take a draw in this one. Glad a few players got a bit of a rest on Wednesday at least, given the schedule.

I'm sorry but I just have to ask; why have you named yourself after a twat? Escobar isn't that great either.
Maybe it's about poor Andrés Escobar (and a slightly less twattish pigeon)?

If we came to Nou Camp with our chin up we certainly can do it at Anfield too.

Klopp already moaning and getting in the excuses. He said some of our players will be fresher as we rested a few in the FA cup. The guys an absolute clown. We’ve played more games than them this season as we’re in more trophies.

I like the fact Ten Hag isn't moaning about fixture congestion despite playing every 3 days he's not letting any negativity in or giving the players an easy excuse

Big game as it's Liverpool but a slight dre hit at the same time. We're not gonna win the league or drop out of the top 4. I'd love to hammer than like they did with us so often recently.

I'd love to see Garnacho start here. He's ready, fearless and quick. Confidence is building. It would be a great experience. Have him running at Arnold while Rashford pulls out left from central Henry style. The right side of their defence hates pace coming at them. Let's go for it.

The difference in class with our manager and some of the rest is unreal.

Jota has only scored in the Carabao cup this season, 13 games in CL and EPL without a goal. In fact it’s something stupid like 0 goals in last 20 or thereabouts.
He’s a busted flush now. We should want Jota starting for them.
can almost guarantee, in which case, that he'll score!

can almost guarantee, in which case, that he'll score!
Just read it’s 0 goals in 26 appearances.
Maybe in the past we would go there under coached and hope for a break but there’s too many flaws like above that Ten Hag and this side can exploit for us to lose imo. The only we lose is some weird deflected goal that falls to an unmarked Liverpool player and we miss many, many must score chances

    DDG
    AWB—Varane—Martinez—Shaw
    Casemiro—Fred
    Antony—Bruno—Garnacho
    Rashford

I know he's more likely to start Weghorst, but I'd really like to see Garnacho here as he seems the type of player who can give Trent a hard time.

    DDG

    Awb Varane Martinez Shaw
    Casemiro Fred
    Bruno
    Antony Wout Rashford

Bring Garnacho on around 65-ish when Trent is tired

I'd really like to see Garnacho here as he seems the type of player who can give Trent a hard time.

He's also the type of player who is most likely to fail to close down Trent, leaving Shaw unprotected from Trent's forays and overlaps on our side of the pitch.

People are always keen to to point out Trent's failings as a defender as something that can be exploited, but are somehow forgetting that he is basically carrying the threat of a good winger playing at right back. He is both a major threat and a chink in Liverpool's defensive armour. Those go hand in hand. I expect in a derby game at Anfield he would be a major threat that we need to do our utmost to nullify, especially at the start of the game.

I would leave Garnacho on the bench and throw him on in the 2nd half when Trent is starting to tire and lose his concentration. Leave the first half to someone more experienced.

    Yea, he is.
Antony is good at tracking back so we have that going for us.

I’m not worried about AWB vs anyone 1 on 1, but he’ll have to pay attention to his positioning at all times.
Nunez, to be fair to him, has great movement.

AWB is brilliant 1v1. Where he worries me if deep crosses coming in from the right to the back post. He loses track of where his runner is, a lot !

He really needs to be switched on Sunday with Trent no doubt bombarding him at times.

    Sunday..but yeah

Bit misleading to say we haven't won at Anfield in 7 years. Whilst that's true of course they have barely lost any games there to anyone over that time. Their home PL record under Klopp is nothing short of remarkable. City don't even go there and win.

Yep it happens constantly and for that reason he’s easily targeted.

We are probably the worst team stylistically for Liverpool to play, with those quick transitions and speed on the counter. If we manage to keep our composure and get some control of the game, then we just have to be clinical in front of goal when the chances come.

Regardless of form, Liverpool away against the top sides is an uphill task. They were in dismal form earlier in the season when they beat City. I think we're a more difficult team than City for them to face, but we need to impose our game in the right way and not get caught up in the occasion.

I'd expect same team that started the cup final, but AWB coming in for Dalot.

Their confidence is brittle. Hopefully we have recovered enough from recent exertions. I’m particularly concerned about Bruno. If we weather the 15 min storm at the start of both halves we hammer them. 4-1 to us.

I don't like Liverpool away at all, even when we went there under SAF and got results I still didn't like the games, they've trounced us of late there, I can't see that happening on Sunday.

They give up chances, so do we and its whoever takes them, We have to score 1st, if we don't I don't expect anything, the home crowd, they always get the right Ref.

Strong 11 out please Shaw fit plus. Take a draw but a win would be top . Can't can't lose.

The game I fear the most during the season.

We are usually sh*t at Anfield and I don't really see us winning this game.

    I would take a draw.

So in 96-97 and 97-98 we beat them 3-1 at Anfield. Since then we've never won by more than 1 goal and played badly nearly every single year:

98/99 - Liverpool 2-2 Man United - Pissed away a 2 goal lead late on
99/00 - Liverpool 2-3 Man United - Decent but kept letting them back in
    00/01 - Liverpool 2-0 Man United - Shite
    01/02 - Liverpool 3-1 Man United - Shite
02/03 - Liverpool 1-2 Man United - Terrible keeper mistakes saw a scrappy win
03/04 - Liverpool 1-2 Man United - Again, bad keeper mistakes saw a scrappy win
04/05 - Liverpool 0-1 Man United - Narrow win, again a keeper error for the goal
    05/06 - Liverpool 0-0 Man United - Crap game
05/06 - Liverpool 1-0 Man United - Awful FA Cup defeat
06/07 - Liverpool 0-1 Man United - Biggest smash and grab you'll see
07/08 - Liverpool 0-1 Man United - Actually a decent performance but still scrappy win
    08/09 - Liverpool 2-1 Man United - Shite
09/10 - Liverpool 2-0 Man United - Shite against a team in piss poor form
    10/11 - Liverpool 3-1 Man United - Shite
11/12 - Liverpool 1-1 Man United - Shite, rescued late on from a corner
11/12 - Liverpool 2-1 Man United - Awful FA Cup defeat
    12/13 - Liverpool 1-2 Man United - Squeezed a result against a 10 men awful Pool side
13/14 - Liverpool 1-0 Man United - Decent performance but lost
14/15 - Liverpool 1-2 Man United - Excellent performance and win
15/16 - Liverpool 0-1 Man United - Two shite teams, scrappy winner
    16/17 - Liverpool 0-0 Man United - Shite game
    17/18 - Liverpool 0-0 Man United - Shite game
    18/19 - Liverpool 3-1 Man United - Shite
    19/20 - Liverpool 2-0 Man United - Shite
    20/21 - Liverpool 0-0 Man United - Shite game
    21/22 - Liverpool 4-0 Man United - Awful

There's a few good scrappy wins but genuinely 1 great performance.

    Are we due another one?

Just goes to show how far we’ve fallen behind, really isn’t good enough, the previous coaches & back room staff should hold their heads in shame. Surprised alarm bells haven’t been ringing about it.

It's not that bad. Liverpool have been one of the best teams in the world since then.

Even when they're weak it's a tough fixture.

From the training pictures seems Shaw and Sancho are not there..

There's a few good scrappy wins but genuinely 1 great performance.

    Are we due another one?
The horrible thing about that list is that even Juanfield, our best performance there by some distance, ended a bit scrappy: they put us under some pressure even with ten men after pulling a goal back. It still wasn't a comfortable win even after a dominant first half.

In this same period, Liverpool had 4-1, 3-0, 4-2, and 5-0 wins at Old Trafford. It's all a bit grim. I fully expect another straightforward defeat. A scrappy, men-behind-the-ball smash and grab is probably our only hope.

We concede few chances and De Gea is in great form, so I doubt we'll be trounced.

If we take our chances, we could do a smash and grab.

Against West Ham we hit a lot of shots over the bar. Need to hit the target.

Antony in particular seems to overhit his shots.

After the last few weeks it is obvious the reason for this, but all of a sudden, waiting Wednesday to Sunday for a game feels like a long time.

The more rest the better before a trip to Anfield I'm sure, but at this stage and the way we're playing, it turns out I'm just impatient.

Can anyone please explain to me how its possible or fair ?
