Not confident about this one. We’ve played a lot of games and will need to match their energy, they’ll be well up for this.

Their season is over apart from top 4 hopes. United is focusing on cups with a hairs width of hope for the Prem. They are also at home. It is easily a far more important game for them, as if United lose nobody will really say anything other than "yeah fair enough we were due a game" while if they lose then their season is pretty much a disaster.

Imagine you asked ETH the question re: importance.

Then read back your response just now and ask yourself if 1) he would say that back to you or 2) he would say that to the players.

You really honestly believe ETH has a mindset where he says or thinks, “fair enough we were due a game”?

No way are we losing this.

    De Gea
    Bissaka - Varane - Martinez - Shaw
    Casemiro - Fred
    Anthony - Bruno - Rashford
    Weghorst

Well yeah it is on ten hag to keep the squad focused. But that is 100% true and irrelevant to how ten hag will prepare it. Some things you don't have any impact on. This is Liverpool's cup final for this season.

It's not ten hag that will say fair enough we were due. It's everyone watching, for good reason. United aren't a team that can win every single game. Nobody can win every single game. Every team is due defeats and dropped points here and there. When you look at the run we've been on while looking at the grand scheme of things, yes, this is far more important for Liverpool and their fans than United. In this specific instance. It is not even remotely controversial to say this.

What gives me hope is Rashford against Trent/Milner and a Van Dijk past his prime. If we manage to find him in behind, we should be able to get a goal or two. Similarly, I feel AWB could be strong against Nunez, if they play him on the left, and Casemiro and Fred/Sabitzer should hold up well against their midfield.

So we have some decent match-ups. If we bring the right fight and courage to play, we have a decent chance, but they will be raising their game - no doubt.

this is more of a test for them than it is for us. there's way more pressure on them to get a result and they don't seem to be handling the pressure well at all. with our strongest team, we'll beat them no problem.

They will be out of the blocks quicker. If its 0-0 after 30 minutes, I see us winning.

    Its not controversial, it’s stupid.

We’re 11 points behind with a game in hand.
If we win we’re 8 points behind with 13 games to go.
Arsenal and City still have to play each other.

This is not more important for Liverpool than us. I genuinely can’t phantom what you’re thinking when we’re third with a chance of winning the league and there’s 13 games left.

Every league game is a cup final as if we win them all we’ve massive chance of wining the league.

I agree 100%. Also can't be complacent about Top 4. 2 bad results and we're under pressure.

A win at Anfield would be another psychological boost. Even the foreign players understand the significance

A more important game for Liverpool? Really? I can’t believe I just read that here. This game matters for many reasons including our hopes, although slim, for the title and to further solidify our place in the top 4. This game matters for many reasons to United and for once in several years, the stakes are actually higher for us.

Happy to just sit back and enjoy this one after the great results we've had recently, that I was sure would have ended by now,so every game undefeated is a bonus right now as we've already got a pot, knocked out Barcelona, into the quartier finals of the FA cup & and nicely in the top four for next season,oh and it's my birthday and the start of the F1 season.Bring it on baby. And I'm off Monday :).

hope we don't have to play against the ref

This ref has somehow already ref'd 4 liverpool matches this season, they are 1-3-0 in them, he was in charge of the wolves/liverpool fa cup match where salah was given the clear offside goal and wolves winner was ruled offside when it wasn't. but that was more on var I think. Also the var ref for this one is the guy that just ref'd the league cup final who gave everything to newcastle, so ya we are probably gonna be up against it with this ref and var

We have a dream of the title, but it is still very distant. It's not a realistic title challenge yet. Something like less than a 5% chance at this point. To be brutally honest I don't think our squad or Ten Hag even sees it like we are in a real title challenge, but kind of like "see where we are in mid April". Either way, being a distant challenger doesn't make every game a cup final. Having nothing left to play for in your season apart from a desperation target is what makes every game a cup final. Top 4 is their last remaining desperation target. They are at home.

United are away at Anfield where we routinely get slapped, even when we had Sir Alex and they had the likes of Dalglish and Hodgson. United has been a stupidly big high since the world Cup, won a cup, in the Europa League, quarter finals of the FA cup, is 3rd in the league with top 4 being the aspiration all season until very recently an inkling of league hope crept in.

It's just not a bigger game for us than it is for them. No matter what kind of brave talk you try to put up. I hope Ten Hag manages to pull it off, but i fully expect a loss or draw (just like I fully expected Arsenal to beat us). Long winning runs are very hard to maintain. When you are on a high it is hard to just keep it going, especially so away to your biggest rival. The other team wants to knock you down a peg and kick start their season. It's why Ole was able to upset City so many times. They were going for the title, we had little to play for other than pride at home to beat City. Roles are reversed now.

Put it this way. If Liverpool lose, it's a huge dent to their top 4 hopes. Their season is a disaster if they don't get top 4 for now and with long term implications. If United lose, still comfortable in 3rd, still going for 2 other cups and is still having a roughly perfect season. So how would this scenario make it bigger for us?

Again, how? We are in 2 other cups after winning a cup, and comfortable in 3rd. If we lose, all those are still true and it's still an amazing season for us.

For Liverpool, their whole season is in the trash other than top 4 hopes. If they lose, that takes a huge dent. Their entire hope of salvaging the season pretty much rests on this game. It isn't close. Mentally for United nothing happens if we lose, we move on and all is great. So by that logic, it makes it much bigger for them. Especially them being at home.

It's essentially the same as when we play Leeds. Those games are far more important for them than for us. They have nothing else to play for. For us, random shit team with little bonus of wanting to smash them because feck them, but otherwise... It's a cup final for them. Liverpool is much bigger of course but this season it is essentially that. Bigger is always who has more to lose if they don't win. Which is obviously them.

Shame that Konate is back for them, Rashford against Joe Gomez would’ve been tasty.

Their right side vs our left side will probably decide the match.
Can we exploit the space behind Trent effectively and could we make sure that Shaw doesn’t get left exposed against Trent and Salah?

Can see Martinez going in and out of position to harass Salah.
Elanga started at OT on the left and that helped to keep their right side quiet.

    I would go with:

    DDG

    Shaw
    Martinez
    Varane
    AWB

    Fred
    Casemiro

    Rashford
    Bruno
    Antony

    Weghorst

Then bring Garnacho on for Antony / Weghorst.

    Of course you are right.
Erik has himself said he is not looking ahead at the cups or titles.
He is looking at the two games ahead. Why he started out last night with the team he did.
We would not be winning the games we are if we just gave up on the title or cup.

Arsenal now are in the UEFA Cup. They will be playing two games a week until they lose the tie.
We have a very good chance of winning the Quadruple.

Erik has totally changed the mentality of the squad.

Finally Arteta is a classless twat.

Tricky to predict the full lineup these days.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------De Gea---------------------------------------------------------------
    AWB------------------------------------Varane----------------------------Martinez----------------------------Shaw
    ----------------------------------------------Casemiro-----------------------Fred----------------------------------------
    -------------------------------------------------------------------Bruno----------------------------------------------------
    Anthony---------------------------------------------------Weghorst-------------------------------------------Rashford

Either this, or Bruno on the right, Wout as a 10, Rashford up top with Sancho or Garnacho coming in for Anthony but on the left.

I think I'd go with the above and switch it second half so Rash is up top and Garnacho can come on with his pace.

Really interesting game this. What a couple of weeks it will have been if we can pull a win out of the bag.

It’s shocking and somewhat amusing that this is the hill you’re choosing to die on.

Our manager is treating every game as a must win, and this is another one.

We have slim chances of a title, but its still a chance. We need the win to keep that chance, to keep our momentum and as a bonus, to take 3 points from them.

This time around, we can match their energy, in fact they have to match ours.

Our left side can really hurt them. Rashford can really go at Trent. Maybe Garnacho late on.

We need our players to keep their head. We have some hot headed ones, especially antony, casemiro and martinez. If we can keep our cool, and follow the manager's game plan, we can get a result here.

    I'd go with:

    DDG
    AWB Varane Martinez Shaw
    Fred Casemiro
    Antony Bruno Rashford
    Weghorst

Win this and we keep our chances at a title IF the top 2 slip up.

Wouldn’t be too surprised if Klopp manages to hype up his players and win this game. It’s basically their last chance of saving their faces this season. I can see it play out similar to Arsenal away.

I hate this game. I don't think I've ever looked forward to Liverpool away in my 36 years of supporting United.

I'd probably take a draw right now if it was offered to me.

I think this maybe a step too much for Weghorst. He struggles against the big teams.

It's about time we give these cnuts a pasting. Hope Shaw is back for it, I'm quite confident if everyone's available.

Robertson he’s got to be the biggest rat of them all. AWB should stop him I think.
    Yea, he is.
Antony is good at tracking back so we have that going for us.

I’m not worried about AWB vs anyone 1 on 1, but he’ll have to pay attention to his positioning at all times.
Nunez, to be fair to him, has great movement.

Exactly the same here. Sometimes I even contemplate not watching the game as I get so stressed and have never enjoyed the gamea.

Then you potentially miss out on wonderful moments like John O'Shea's last minute winner and Juanfield.

I always approach these games expecting to lose, so I don't feel too nervous or distraught when they score. It also makes our goals all the more ecstatic.

Liverpool are in no way capable of getting close to Arsenal performances

I'd take a draw in this. Leeds, Leeds, Barca, Leicester, Barca, Newcastle, West Ham and now Liverpool? Apart from Leicester, which was fairly straight forward, that is some highly emotionally draining and hard games. Its beyond my wildest dreams that we can top off that super hard run in with a win away to Liverpool. So I'd not be crying if we got a point.

I’d love to be in a position whereby we have a lead with twenty minutes to go and Ten Hag unleashes Garnacho against a̶ ̶t̶i̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ Alexander-Arnold and he has him on toast for the remainder of the game.

I've never watched a game where I'm celebrating winning a free kick because we'd snatched a point. Down to 10 men, a very good Liverpool side and in stoppage time, and we get a free kick. Then we go and actually snatch it! In my top 3 all time games watching United
