I am confident Fellaini will be available, he usually recovers pretty quick from minor knocks. In the event he's not available, I trust Jose to bring the double decker and grind out a draw atleast, which will not be too bad a result in the circumstances. Live to fight another day and all that.

Still, I'd prefer we go for the 3 points as Liverpool are there for the taking at the moment. But we need our first choice XI for that.

As long as Lukaku is fit, we'll have a better chance at getting our counter attack plan working than last year.
Ibra would receive the ball on the half way line and they knew he couldn't turn and run in behind

With Martial/Rashford looking in good shape, and Mkhy being mobile and up to speed this year we'll have a lot of pace up there.

Cant wait to see Rashford and Lukaku run at these cnuts

Need a united Liverpool match where I am not closing my eyes in the last ten mins when Liverpool have the ball. The game is not good for my health.

Yea, have a bad feeling about this one. I always do...

    Reckon we'll go to a back 5.

De gea, Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Bailly, Valencia, Matic, Herrera, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Lukaku

Changed my prediction to 3-5-2 as well.

    De Gea
    Bailly - Jones - Smalling
    Valencia - Matic - Herrera - Young
    Mikhi - Lukaku - Rashford
Put Darmian as a sub as well since I predict it to become ugly by the last minutes and Jose will go 6 at the back to secure a point if we failed to score.

With it looking likely Fellaz will be out, we may, as others have suggested, go with five at the back, or we could even stick to a 4231, which is how Newcastle set up against them, and did really well against them.

We'd have to change personnel, because we'd need players who will provide a high energy, but I reckon we could get away with a 4231, especially if we go with Herrera and Matic in the middle, with Rashford and Young/Lingard down the sides, for example.

Either way, I just hope we're up for it, because it'll be a tough game as always, regardless of what form we're in.

We are probably going to lose this.

It's Anfield, form counts for very little.

I detest this games when the narrative is on Liverpool to save their season. They are usually up for it from the first minute and treat it as a cup final.

Liverpool will always raise their game against United, but looking at their roster - there are not many motivators or tough players in it! Who is their baddest player? Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson? Coincidentally amongst their worst players, prone to doing errors every game. They have no Steven Gerrard, no Javier Mascherano, no Daniel Agger, no Martin Skrtel and no Lucas. They pretty much are a bunch of skinny, technical players mixed with the ones above. United have Bailly, Matic, Fellaini, Lukaku and Herrera at the top of my head - you just don't want to go into a tackle with one of those when aggression is high.
Have you seen Jordan Henderson stare down Diege Costa? Scary stuff right there.

Hope we not go with 3 CB thing, we looked very shaky defensively last time we employed it and their forwards will run riot.

Lindelof isn't gonna play this. It'll be Smalling and everything will be the same as you said.
Any other game, I would have chosen Smalling. But against Liverpool, I feel Lindelof will be better. Smalling can't pass when pressed. Also, Liverpool don't offer any aerial threat for us to need him.

Please no Mkhi, he is absolutely dependant on space and time on the ball, something you get zilch of against Liverpool.

They will gegendepress him out of the match.
That's a concern. But who else? Jose doesn't seem to like Rashford on the right wing. Mata won't be much of an improvement and it seems apparent that when Jose has to chose between these two, he always picks Mkhi. If we are planning to go full defensive, we might play Lingard but that would just be playing into the hands of Liverpool.

Mourinho will never risk Lindelof in such a game. He'll go for the safest and more experienced option, who is Smalling.

It's possible for sure. Let's see what Jose decides. It could actually be good for Lindelof to be left out of this game and then be introduced later against a weaker PL team. Remember when Mkhi played half a game against City and then didn't play again for 2-3 months. I don't want that to happen to Lindelof.

Yeah it's a risk for the player himself. It may make his confidence sky high of we win but can break him for a good amount of time if the opposite happens.

I see Ander and Matic as a perfect combination at Anfield. Of course the injuries will hurt us but i see 5 at the back working for us. Great options for the counter and a solid base with great pace by playing Rom, Rashford and Tony. I feel confident for 1 nil or 2-1.

Don't worry guys, Liverpool has Chamberlain, we'll give them a Chamberlain of goals. :)

That’s what I went with but I included Mata in there as well.

So, were down to Matić and Herrera in midfield? And A.Pereira got loaned? Who would have thought it was a bad decision?

I thought it was obvious during the summer that we needed to sign both a DM and a CM, as we had no quality cover whenever a Pogba injury occurs. And then, after only signing Matic, we should at least have kept Pereira...

    I'm not into chants.
I don't believe that people from Liverpool are incestuous. ;)
But this one made me laugh, because it actually works.

Any other keeper in the game instead of DDG and we concede 2 more goals easily.

True. But we do have DDG in our team and we shall have him in our team against LFC again, so the argument is moot.

    - Because we don't play five at the back and our results have been very good so far. Why try out five at the back in our biggest game of the season so far?

-It's a bad idea to go so defensive against Liverpool at Anfield and we have the personnel to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 comfortably.

God I hate playing them. I dread it every season. Not because I'm particularly afraid or don't believe we can win but the mood I'm in for days if they do beat us far outweighs the high of beating them.

I can only recall one genuinely good performance there in the past 15 years and that was under LVG when Mata scored that amazing brace. We've had some good wins there like the O'Shea winner and when Rafael scored that brilliant goal but both were in horrible performances.

Basically we never turn up at Anfield. We are 100% a much better team than them and they really aren't up to much this season yet I'd still take a draw.

We've got the personnel for sure, but is Fergie's influence at the FA this fecking good?

With fellaini and pogba out... something like this hopefully:

    De gea
    Bailly Smalling Jones
    Valencia Herrera Matic Young
    Mkhitaryan Lukaku Martial

Still not looking forward to this! At least you all have a small issue with your midfield. I just hope nothing happens to our players.

Can't see us playing 3 at the back, unless Valencia and Young basically play as deep fullbacks, making it a 5.

Otherwise, you don't invite Mane and Salah to have that space to run into.
