Leicester seems to play same lineup for the last few games, so expect them to be a well oiled machine. They have drawn Everton and Arsenal at home. Lost to Chelsea away and won Stoke away. So dont underestimate them. Their best defender is Richie De Laet. So quality wise they are not good but they will defend as a team. Left Back Paul Konchesky is their weak link. They play 442, defend deep and try to counterattack with fast wingers. Their striker is 6'3" and good in the air. They attack through both the wings. So expect many crosses to be played to him.

If we are to attack with 442 diamond formation as the last match then expect us to have huge possession as against QPR and Blind having similar control of the game with lot of space to work with. When we attack, their central midfielders will drop much deeper and crowd the penalty area. Our players has to bring their shooting boots for the match. I predict Rooney to score.

    Would love to see this:

    De Gea
    Rafa - Evans - Rojo - Shaw
    Herrera - Dí Maria
    Mata
    RVP - Rooney

Don't think Falcao is up to speed just yet, but the pressure should be on him to break into the team, not jus start because Robin hasn't started too brightly.

If this team can gel, we should be one of the most exciting teams in the league to watch!
Think you're forgetting someone mate. :)

Oh cmon, this is getting ridiculous. Rooney, Falcao, Di Maria, Mata, Herrera, RVP will have problems with a team that basically costs 1 million?

You're badly overreacting here. It won't be easy, it won't be difficult - it will entirely depend on how we play. If we are on form, then we will batter them. If not, then we will still most likely win.

The only thing we should worry about is if our defence doesn't make another blunder that will cost us.
Even if they cost £1, you can not overlook their achievements so far and the confidence they would have gained from their performances. We should not underestimate them at all. I think we will need to take our chances, especially early on, and not allow them to gain any confidence as the match progresses.

I just want to see Adnan how he passes and assists. Not like last game very selfish.

And of course that we win.

A serious question that must be asked: if jones and Evans/smalling/Blackett are gonna occupy our CB spots all season, should we just have signed Rojo as our first choice LB (no.3) and spent the shaw money elsewhere?

Personally I want shaw as LB and Rojo in vidic' old LCB spot but I'm sure many feel that Rojo can offer more as an out-an-out LB.

    Agree?

We still need two left-backs and I don't think Reece James is capable of filling in for a longer period of time if Rojo got injured. So, no. I like the fact that we got one of the best prospects in the world playing in a position where there are remarkably few real quality players nowadays. Plus, he is english so less chance of him wanting to move on in a few years time and so forth, as you'd get with the southern europeans/americans (more often than not, not saying it's a given).

He's not a prospect, best LB in the league last year and we paid for that service, I'm just wondering if Rojo could be just as good for a fraction of the price?

You seriously think Leicester was put together for a million? You do know Uchoa cost £8m this summer for a start and they basically bought their way to the title last season with the wages they pay players. They are a very rich club these days, their owner is a billionaire.

For this reason I don't buy the little old Leicester thing either, that washes with Burnley but not with these. I suspect with the money they have, they'll finish mid table.

I've not come here to start an argument or anything, but I don't see why this argument still exists. Other than Simpson and Ulloa this year, Pearson's never paid over $1.5m for a player and we have a salary cap of £30,000. As I said in my previous post, a list of our key players from last season would be (with rumoured fees included):

    Schmeichel
(1.25m, one of three remaining players from Sven's crazy period - 2011)

    De Laet (1m - 2012) - Morgan (1m - 2012) - Moore (youth) - Schlupp (Youth)

    Mahrez (0.3m - 2014) - Drinkwater (1m - 2012) - James (1m - 2012) - Knockaert (.5m - 2012)

    Vardy (1m - 2012) - Nugent (free - 2011)
Hardly buying the league is it? 2 of our own youth products there, three of yours, a striker we got from non-league football, and 2 French wingers for cheap.

resident sporting Lisbon fan @Sly has said numerous times that he believes Rojos best position is CB. he's seen Rojo play more than most of us so I would take his word on that

More optimistic than I've been in years. We have a major great team. Still that niggly thought though brought on by these last few years. Hope Falcao gets a good 60 minutes. They say he's the dog's boll*cks and from what I've seen of him in compilations I can see why he's called by many, the best striker in the world today. These week long waits are agonizing. I hope the players have the same feeling.

I was always lead to believe he was a CB until the World Cup!

Long term, if we dominate games, shaw will be so advanced at times and it's surely a bonus to have a left sided CB that can cover him, imagine we had this for evra the last 3 years!

The team that started last week

    Hamer Free
    De Laet £1m
    Morgan £1m
    Moore youth
    Konchesky £1m
    Mahrez £400k
    King youth
    Hammond free
    Schlupp youth
    Nugent free
    Ulloa £8m

    Bench was
    Smith youth
    Wasilewski free
    Drinkwater £1m
    Cambiasso free
    Knockaert £600k
    Wood £2m

Schmeichel who was injured but should play this week was £1.2m

Oh and for th record we complied with the FL FFP policy

Same team that started vs QPR please.

It will be much more impressive if we play similarly as we did vs QPR in this tough away fixture, expect them to press us and get in our faces, thats the real test, something QPR didn't really do.

I don't think its fair on players if Falcao instantly starts ahead of RVP/Mata atm, we should bring Falcao on 2nd half for one of the two, the one who has performed the worst preferably.

Not into predicting results really but I think we'll win 2-1, can't see us not conceding IMO, unless we totally dominate the ball and don't let them attack  Barca-esque type possession!

We've started with the same lineup for the past few matches due to injuries but I'd expect a few changes this week as a few are fully fit again. And you say that De Laet's our best defender but he's been our shakiest in the first few matches, and I'm including Konchesky in that. De Laet's brilliant in an attacking sense but nowhere near as good as Morgan or Moore when defending. They're absolutely solid.

Really not sure how we are going to set on the back four. Not sure if Shaw will start this one with Rojo at CB, or maybe Blackett good form can get him pick over Shaw and keep Rojo at LB. Who is going to get the other spot, Evans or Smalling, or we could even see a Smalling Evans pairing on CB with Rojo at LB.

The only sure thing is Rafael at RB.

    My preference:

    DDG
    Rafael - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Mata
    Falcao - Rooney

    Expectation:
    DDG
    Rafael - Smalling - Evans - Rojo
    Blind
    Herrera - Di Maria
    Mata
    Van Persie - Rooney

Reason: I think he's going to ease Shaw in, Jones back at RCB with Evans LCB is a fair pairing and Rojo offers a lot at left back.

Falcao will get his time but I think Van Gaal will want to avoid dropping Van Persie straight away and ruining confidence.

Jones is still injured I believe?

I agree we have spent money but I have to point out that we didnt buy the title last season.
NP has put together a team of players that want to play together and are desperate to succeed.
Just an example is our Midfield at Stoke The 4 players that started and 2 subs that came on cost us a total of £1.4m.
also when you look at Schlupp Moore and King all came through the youth system and vardy from non league. Admittedly Cambiassio must be on decent wages and we are not as financially restricted as Burnely we have not gone out and spent crazy like say a QPR.

I think you will win but hoping we can sneak a 1-1 or 2-1 win :-)

Some of the assumptions and sweeping generalisations about Leicester are hilarious.

This is why it's great that we have such a large number of opposite fans on board; otherwise a lot of people would take what some posters say for gospel.

We are a shite 7th placed team who should consider ourselves lucky to even get to play against the mighty Leicester City. Nothing has changed since last year and Anderson is in great shape.

    4-0 Leicester

now someone is talking sense :-p

Oh how this place is going to go to Sh*t if we play a 3 back formation
But if that was to happen and we won 3-0 would anybody actually care after the match?

Are we going to be playing alot of games on Sundays this year then? Made more sense for arsenal villa to be Sunday and us today surely?

Blackett will be replaced by Smalling but he has no reason to be ashamed of his performances. Evans must play and will seeing as he's our only CB with sth resembling technique and quality on the ball and passing. He's made two terrible mistakes but his passing is on another level to Smalling's or Blackett's and Van Gaal knows that. Then you've got Rojo who's good on the ball but I don't include him as he will play LB come Sunday. He will be our second ball CB after Shaw is match fit and replaces him on the left. Shaw's slowly getting there, I've seen him in our u-21 game and he looked sharp-ish. I think he'll get that LB spot in the following game, a couple of weeks tops.
If Smalling is fully fit then I agree. Evans, like I said, looks way of form so I thought maybe we should play Smalling-Blackett as CB pairing.

I was hoping we could see Shaw from the start, but it looks he won't be fit enough to start a game on Sunday.

This game should paint a much better picture for our prospects than the QPR one. Arsenal & Everton couldn't win there. A Stoke fresh from beating City couldn't get anything at home. Chelsea struggled for a while and Leicester were a bit unlucky in that game so it's going to be tough.

A win here will be a very good result considering we're still gelling as a team.

Exactly the small time mentality we've adopted in recent years!

When previous sides featuring Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney went to a promoted team did we think a victory was so special? Thought not, we should blow them away with our recent signings and prove that is wasn't "only QPR"

We should only expect 3 points in these games like we did in Sir Alex' era!

We seen how a negative atmosphere can affect the team last season, hopefully the away support on Sunday expects a win and it translates onto the pitch!

It was bloody Burnley and not Chelsea. It was bloody Sunderland and not Everton. Yes, there are new players on the team, but a note of caution is justified.

Neither of those were extremely difficult, we drew them fairly comfortably.
We had tonnes of players injured, players we were trying to shift out playing, and none of the new players. Utterly different scenarios.

People are starting to overrate some of them again. Sure Falcao might be good here and Di Maria is world class, but Rooney is far past it even if he can have the good odd game. Persie is past his best as well although he can with great service score some goals, but he is a very limited player. So it Mata who is good on the ball, but need a lot of movement next to him to be at his best. Herrera and Di Maria will give us some of that, but I think we would need that from our strikers too.

Our front four of Giggs/Nani,Ronaldo, Rooney, Berbatov/Tevez in 2008/2009 was probably our best attacking team so far. Only Di Maria is on that level in our team now.

You're one of those criminal underraters aren't you.

Berbatov and Tevez? Tevez we didn't even see his best form, that came at City, and Berbatov was an infuriatingly wrong player for our style, even if he did have one season with a big tally, mostly through scoring multiple goals in 4 or 5 games.

Rooney is not far past it! And Van Persie is dubious if he's past his best or just masked by niggles.

You should probably support someone else if you can't get excited by our front players now! Wow.

going to be a tough game, they have had some impressive results so far this season, 1-2 utd

As you can see from my post, I am not talking about transfer fees why you were promoted but the wages paid. Wages are a more important factor than money spent on fees. Vardy came from Non League, but still cost about a million pound, which is a record. Mind you, I saw him play loads for Fleetwood and he is the most talented player seen in the Conference for the past decade at least. He can play in the Prem I think, he is that good.
