Oh how this place is going to go to Sh*t if we play a 3 back formation
But if that was to happen and we won 3-0 would anybody actually care after the match?
Then the lunatics would be telling us we would've won 5-0 if we played 4 at the back.

As you can see from my post, I am not talking about transfer fees why you were promoted but the wages paid. Wages are a more important factor than money spent on fees. Vardy came from Non League, but still cost about a million pound, which is a record. Mind you, I saw him play loads for Fleetwood and he is the most talented player seen in the Conference for the past decade at least. He can play in the Prem I think, he is that good.
i understand but we do have a wage cap :-) We got rid of the big earners that Sven brought in... Matt Mills, Beckford, Bamba were all on massive money but NP cleared out and as another posted said we did comply with FFP so cant be spending that much :-)
I rate Vardy....when he first came he struggled but he worked hard and his determination is second to none. he upped his game and deserves his chance....hopefully he will take it

More optimistic than I've been in years. We have a major great team. Still that niggly thought though brought on by these last few years. Hope Falcao gets a good 60 minutes. They say he's the dog's boll*cks and from what I've seen of him in compilations I can see why he's called by many, the best striker in the world today. These week long waits are agonizing. I hope the players have the same feeling.

Nice to see you back in posting action. Last week actually felt like the start of our next team - that's one of the best things in football, seeing a new team or a new player emerge and evolve. And yes, a week seems an awfully long time when you're waiting to see what happens next.

    Final Prediction:

    de Gea
    Rafael Evans Blackett Rojo
    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Mata
    Falcao Rooney
    --
    Subs: Shaw, Januzaj, van Persie

    Leicester City 1-3 Manchester United

Sudden influx in the number of Leicester fans in this forum...

    Yes, it's good isn't it :D

I really enjoy reading about our opponents from the point of view of people who watch them every week. The Leicester fans who've joined in seem like a decent bunch to talk to as well. That helps.

This is a difficult game to predict because we are in uncharted waters still. I can see every kind of result happening. Gonna go for a 4:2 United win. Falcao to come on and get 2, Di Maria to serve up some assists, Persie with 2 goals as well. I can see something outrageously out of the ordinary happening as well. Screamer....bicycle....

    LINE-UP

    Rooney van Persie
    Mata
    Di Maria Herrera
    Blind
    Shaw Rojo Evans Rafael
    de Gea
Would like to see Januzaj. He not only deserves playing time, he also needs it. I just can't see van Gaal dropping any of our attacking players. Only questions are will van Gaal play van Persie or Falcao and will he play Shaw at left back, meaning Rojo goes inside and Blackett out of the line-up.

Difficult game. I dare not hope for a comfortable win like sunday's but I will go for 2-1 win for United.

I am soo excited about this match, i don't mind us sneaking a win, as long we play very attacking football and create chance after chance like old united. I haven't seen much of Leicester city but judging by their results they have been pretty solid so it won't be easy, and lastly i love how many Leicester fans have joined up, it gives a clear insight about the other side and how will they approach the match.

This Leicester team almost beat Chelsea at the bridge, they have also added a few additions in midfield, won't be an easy game but we'll win. I'll go with 3-1.

I'd agree with those who say this will be a tough game.

However, given the results of the first three games it's one we need to win to keep the momentum of the QPR game going.

I think we'll narrowly take the three points.

Exactly the small time mentality we've adopted in recent years!

When previous sides featuring Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney went to a promoted team did we think a victory was so special? Thought not, we should blow them away with our recent signings and prove that is wasn't "only QPR"

We should only expect 3 points in these games like we did in Sir Alex' era!

We seen how a negative atmosphere can affect the team last season, hopefully the away support on Sunday expects a win and it translates onto the pitch!

It's not small time, its realistic. I do expect to win tomorrow but at the same time I'm aware this isn't a guaranteed win. We came 7th last year, Fergie has gone, Ronaldo and Tevez have gone. Those glory days have gone. It's a fact. Bloody hell if we were rocking up to Leicester tomorrow with Giggs-Keane-Scholes-Beckham I'd be saying "should be an easy 3 points lads" but it's just not the case anymore.

I have total faith in LvG but this is a new side and it WILL take time, no matter if you think Utd sides of the past would do. We should be positive, of course, but not arrogant. You're in for a shock if you think we're going to go here, there and everywhere to blow sides away. It's not small time to be understanding of the current football landscape.

Big test. Arsenal and Everton have failed to beat Leicestor.

Agree. And, I wish I shared your optimism. But, QPR had been terrible so far and have slipped in lots of goals. Leicester on the other hand will be much more compact, and have good options upfront. One mistake at the back from us, and we will be in the backfoot. Blind was shrugged off the ball easily a couple of times against QPR, Herrera will drop back, but he has a tendency to lose his marker in a cut-back (saw it against QPR in one match, no one highlighted as we didn't concede, thanks to De Gea), and our current CB options are not that settled yet. That doesn't mean they won't come good with more matches.

But, till we win consistently till everton, let's hope we keep improving steadily. Big tests will be everton and chelsea before we should share the high optimism, I think.

Look at how we performed against fulham last year, and they were bottom and we drew 2 2 recording an insane amount of crosses. So we have gone into games last season against poor teams, and drawn or lost playing god awful. Some of those things you are nitpicking, this team is nowhere near complete, yes blind and herrera did a couple of mistakes, but overall they passed QPR to death, and we all know QPR were awful, but this is the first time in a long long time we have passed the ball with an identity.

For me the reason why we have struggled for so long under moyes and the first 3 games of the season, especially in midfield, we have fielded an ageing carrick, fletcher, anderson, fellaini, cleverley, young, nani, valencia kagwa, with only janazaj and mata our only saving grace. In the first 3 games of the season united have had no linchpin, and fielding the likes of cleverley fletcher in CM, and the likes of anderson had a few minutes, with valencia lingaard and young being played at wingback, so these factors and a terrible manager like Moyes was a big factor in how bad united done last season, and the first 3 games of this season, because of the lack of players bedding in, and di maria was signed and thrown straight into the starting 11 days later, so we were lacking the quality to hurt teams.

Maybe united will drop points tomorrow, but when united start geling the likes of rafeal shaw rojo blind herrera di maria mata rooney falcao/RVP, this team can easily make the top 4, and these players can hurt teams on an individual level

Iam so pumped for this game, I can't wait ! Leicester City won't be an easy job, but Iam very hopeful we can trash them 5-0.

this is going to be a tougher game than quite a few think, already been said but this Leicester team was unlucky at Chelsea.
A good 4/5-0 away win would be excellent and well within the team but I will settle for a 0-1 or 1-2 win, with the team player has a unit, still early days for this team yet, but all the signs are looking good

    Love tricky fixtures :smirk:

    Think it'll be a difficult 1:2 or 1:3 win but I wouldn't rule out a draw.

I want to continue like the QPR game and get a big win as much as everyone else but I'd be happy with a 1:0 win if we played quality football throughout the 90. Even if we managed to beat QPR 1:0 I'm sure people would've been happy considering all the chances we created and the beautiful midfield display.

Maybe Smalling in for Blackett but Blackett has been good so this team is what I want. RVP hasn´t looked interested for awhile now so I want him dropped

I understand the caution by some of the posters.... but with our attack we should outscore the Foxes.

I'd drop Evans before Blackett, but I think coming back from injury for Smalling would be better in a home game where he'd have to do less defending.

I think this is our first tough test of the season and a game that will be more indicative of where we are. I hope we can carry our momentum from QPR game last week.

Then the lunatics would be telling us we would've won 5-0 if we played 4 at the back.
I wouldn't be surprised if I'm honest  I'm just happy we have a manager who is capable of changing systems as he sees fit, makes us very flexible and gives the other teams manager headaches as to how we will lineup

This should be a tough game and I agree with that, Leicester are a decent side and I wish them well beyond our game but the fact that everyone is saying it will be a tough game with us just winning makes me think it wont now lol.

Easy game with us dominating only for Ulloa to score a 5 minute hattrick at the death.

Someones gotta go against the grain.

    De Gea
    Rafael Evans Rojo Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera Di Maria
    Mata
    Falcao Rooney

Hopefully we see this. It looks a strong lineup to me now with all our new signings in it and fit. Once Carrick and Jones are back it'll be full strength. Shaw has got to start somewhere to get his match sharpness going, I think he will play.

Do you think Carrick will replace Blind when he is back? I think Blind may keep his place IMO if he carries on doing the simple stuff well!

In the big games I can see us going very solid and 4-3-3 with Blind, Carrick and Herrera, with Di Maria and Rooney wide of Falcao/RVP. I think LvG really rates Carrick and will find a place for him.

Or even 4-2-3-1 with Blind and Carrick as pure holders and then any combination of 4 players ahead of them.

Yeah I can't argue with that I think you're right!
Against the big teams if we set up the way we did vs QPR then we would get found out on the counter attack pretty easilly, kept seeing Evans in right back positions when we were in possession and leaving just Blackett central with Blind slightly ahead. Any team quick on the attack would kill us if we lost the ball carelessly.

Its a shame we'd have to leave out such quality vs the big teams away but our bench would be the most dangerous in the premier league IMO with the likes of RVP/Mata/Januzaj on the bench

Exactly, both formations have their strengths and weaknesses and being able to change between the two is a big plus.

Rooney wide seems like something that can reallt weaken us, but I agree otherwise. Welbeck could have been useful with that tactic. For me at the moment Valencia should probably do the job in front of Rafael that can need more cover then we focus our attacks with Di Maria, Falcao/Rooney and Herrera.

Fair enough, except for the part about Valencia. He doesnt really play football anymore.

    My prediction :
    -------------DDG
    Rafael---Evans-Blackett--Rojo
    -------------Blind
    ------Herrera------Di Maria
    -------------Mata
    ---------RVP-----Rooney(C)

I have a feeling LVG will try to make as little changes from last week.We have a working formulae and the new players need to gel with each other.

I dont expect the players to defeat Leicester as easily as last week we did to QPR.They are a solid team and will put up a stern fight.

But I believe our attacking quality will overpower them, the first goal will be very important. If we get it,confidence will be running through our veins and we will take control. If we dont, our heads might drop.

    The former shall happen :smirk:

Neither of those were extremely difficult, we drew them fairly comfortably.
We had tonnes of players injured, players we were trying to shift out playing, and none of the new players. Utterly different scenarios.

You make it sound like United met their objective "fairly comfortably". These are teams that United ought to thrash!

Strong team, but van Persie should be there and not Rooney. RvP is a LvG favourite, so he's nailed on to play.
