Exactly the small time mentality we've adopted in recent years!

When previous sides featuring Ronaldo, Tevez, Rooney went to a promoted team did we think a victory was so special? Thought not, we should blow them away with our recent signings and prove that is wasn't "only QPR"

We should only expect 3 points in these games like we did in Sir Alex' era!

We seen how a negative atmosphere can affect the team last season, hopefully the away support on Sunday expects a win and it translates onto the pitch!

Yes outlook has definitely changed among the fans but I don't think negatively as you've pointed out.

A lot of the time under Sir Alex the home crowd would be flat if United didn't start well and fans are now starting to understand the part they have to play to rally the team, as seen very impressively with last season's away support. Nervousness can transmit to the players for sure but now that expectations aren't as high as they were (expecting to win every game, and being right 95% of the time), fans are rallying the team more and more during games.

I haven't been this excited for ages! Hopefully the game vs. QPR was the rule rather than the exception and we have just seen the start of a new era

I'm hoping and expecting Falcao gets his first starting appearance for us and van Gaal continues with the back four and doesn't return to that back 5 malarkey. But I guess the man himself knows better than a mere foreign supporter.

    Incredibly eager and excited!

How tomorrows game could go in 2 directions

How it could pan in our favour? - the midfield of blind herrera and di maria can dictate the game, link the play up with mata which gets better service to rooney with either RVP and falcao getting, as our midfield dictates the game, the fullbacks providing us the width along with di maria's ability to stretch Leicester, falcao scores on his debut, or RVP breaks his duck and more players are gaining confidence as we look to rack up the wins, and we come away with a 1 or 2 0 win.

How it could go against us? - our possession game gets us nowhere, Leicester are very organized making it hard to break them down, they isolate blind from getting those forward passes to our attacking players, making us hit those long balls which goes against our flair players. Herrera is getting knocked off the ball, and struggles to cope with the physical side of the game, as he is still adapting to life after la liga, and he is struggling to do his job on the right handside of the diamond and in the end he is subbed round the 60th minute. The defence gets exposed with blackett showing his inexperience, and rafeal rojo leaving our defence exposed and evans has a poor game. While our forwards like RVP having another poor game or falcao still adapts to the PL, while rooney and di maria are in and out of the game, but are not so effective as the QPR. And in the end we are told what everyone else was saying, it was only QPR we were giving a reality check. We end up with either a 1 1 draw, or lose it 2 1

That is how the game could go tomorrow, so like many have said, this team is still of an unknown quantity, is the team returning as a top 4 side? or just has it was last season, we are still struggling gelling in so many players

Lads I'm travelling to Leicester from Australia for my first United game, is there a pub that you all get together at beforehand? Cheers

Will be absolutely furious if we dont win this now, given liverpool have dropped points and city/chelsea will drop points...

I'm visiting the in laws in Leicester this weekend. The whole family are Leicester City fans. United have a great chance tomorrow but this LCFC side will be at is from the whistle. Control the match and win the game. So much quality in our side but, for me, we need to set up like we did against QPR.

Truth in abundance. Anyone underestimating Leicester this season is an idiot. This side will smash us if we play 3-5-2. Di Maria or not.

I've got the United butterflies back!

Both last week and this game coming up tomorrow I'm so pumped and excited, whilst I've watched every single game it's been so long since I've felt so excited about watching us play.

I was excited against QPR when even though all they did was defend(not very well lol) we managed to create chances. Previous teams we've had, even with Ronaldo(might be a tiny exaggeration) we have struggled to break down even shit teams if they just defend.

    Can't wait for tomorrow!

3 points is very important tomorrow. We need to get ahead of some of our rivals, I don't care how early it is.

Didn't that Schlupp play for United before? Jesus christ I hope he doesn't play well tomorrow but I wont be surprised if he plays like the reincarnation of the Messias. Relatives are always the worst friends.

Be lovely to be above both City and Liverpool by the close of the weekend. Come on reds! 3-1.

you took Jeff Schlupp on trial a couple of seasons ago

Strong team, but van Persie should be there and not Rooney. RvP is a LvG favourite, so he's nailed on to play.

VP hasn't played well this season, and Rooney has exceeded VP's level of favour with the captaincy.
Falcao hasn't been brought in to sit on the bench, or be cover. He'll be starting pretty soon you'd think.

You make it sound like United met their objective "fairly comfortably". These are teams that United ought to thrash!

We would do if we had the team on top form like we'll have in a month or 2.
But those first few matches we were making do, patched up squad, playing people who knew they were on their way out. It was very disjointed.

Ahead of tomorrow's game against Leicester City, we asked questions to their fans on Leicester fan website FoxesTalk. Read what they had to say here if a mains member, or here if a newbie.

Why should van Persie be there and not Rooney?

Because he's a LvG favourite, especially being on the Dutch team. That's why Blind was brought in, too. It means they are known quantities to the manager and usually the first on the team sheet. Just look around the league. All managers have favourites who follow them around.

I hope to god we play the same team we played against qpr but drop RVP he has being useless so far it's like we're a man down up front

all the while we've got the best striker in the world sat on the bench,

jet lag, match fitness, new surroundings etc no excuse now Louis, Falcao has to start up top with wazza. We might only have him for a season so get him in the team and if RVP wants a starting 11 place he has got to fight for it. I hope mata doesn't suffer to accommodate RVP. If so it's extremely bad management but we'll wait and see.

Its nuts how exited I am to see us play Leicester lol.

Its nuts how exited I am to see us play Leicester lol.

I've spent all week counting down the days until the match.

Its the complete polar opposite of last season, where I got more and more depressed as each day got closer to any of our games.

I am starting to get nervous now with Liverpool dropping points. If we start wining now I can see us finish above them again which I couldn't imagine after our game against Burnley and after they destroyed Spurs. What I do fear is Van Gaal underestimating the opponents again and putting out and unbalanced. He did that against Mk Dons and Burnley and it cost us. Sure we should keep playing short passing as the basic if that is his way, but we need to be up for the fight as well and if we have no pace up front I think it will cost us if Leicester have a good game and put us under pressure. Since we have no pace up front our midfield need to destroy them by short passing so we can move up and give our strikers the ball near goal, which we could do since Di Maria, Herrera and Blind are really good with the ball. I fear that Blind may struggle though with the physical nature here and also our back four might be nervous if we get a poor start.

I think its because we are such an unknown entity at the moment after all these quality signings coupled with van gaals "philosophy", we are all just itching for it all to click because it could be something really special.

Win tomorrow and we're 6th  Above Liverpool and City (game in hand), one point off Arsenal.

I've got a fecking family sunday dinner though  So will have to settle for sly sneaky phone updates in between courses. :(

Really can't wait for tomorrow. I hope to God that we start Falcao ahead of RVP. Our Dutchman seems a little off the pace at the moment, and giving Falcao a good 75 minutes will give me enough opportunities to assess how effective he can be in our club. We saw a mere glimpse on Sunday, but tomorrow he'll have trained for a full week and will have understood the system and the players a whole lot better.

I have...correction had work tomorrow (yes on a Sunday) and I told my boss today Im feeling sick and I can't make it. So I get to watch both the United game and the Broncos game (NFL).

I expect us to concede but I'd like to think we have far too much firepower (especially if Di Maria is on form) to put 2 or 3 past them and win it.

    De Gea
    Rafael--Evans--Blackett--Shaw
    Blind
    Herrera--Di Maria
    Mata
    Falcao--Rooney

subs: Lindegaard, Smalling, Rojo, Fletcher, Januzaj, Pereira, van Persie
    Probably Rojo in for Blackett.

    ------Rooney - Falcao

    -------------Mata

    Di Maria ------ Herrera

    ---------------Blind

    Shaw - Evans - Rojo - Rafa

    ----------------DDG

Just really hope we don't revert back to the three man defence. In fact, wouldn't be opposed to seeing an identical match-day squad (first team & subs) as the one that faced QPR. I'd rather Evans gets dropped as soon as possible though, as he looks like a calamity waiting to happen every game and Smalling should return.

Really looking forward to this. I've been to most prem grounds several times but never Leicester and there's a bit of optimism about the actual game for the first time in a while.

I'm hoping to see Shaw start, with Rojo at centre back. The more Evans plays, the clearer I think it'll become that he's our best centre half. The diamond worked a treat and I hope we see it again as it really suits the players.

1-3, Rooney and a Falcao brace.

Hmmmm... Could always tell my family I'm ill between 1.30-3.30 :wenger:.

You fancy them against the Seahawks?

On a course tomorrow. Really pissed off that I'm going to miss this game.

People should have more confidence i feel. This is the kind of game we should be looking at winning convincingly, especially after what happened to Liverpool.
Football isn't played on paper for sure but the gulf in class between our 2 teams is immense and if SAF was still here, most people would think this was close to a dead certainty.

I honestly think a lot our annoying slip ups over recent years has been because we concentrate too much on the opposing team and what they are going to do and not enough on what we will do to them, we worry too much about the opposition instead of making them worried about us. Well we have the players now to make them worry about us.

I reckon it'll be the exact same team (and squad) that played against QPR.

Unless LvG reverts to 3-5-2, then it's relatively easy to predict at least 8 of the starters for this game.

The 3 that are dodgy: LB-- Shaw or Rojo?,LCB -- Blackett or Rojo (if Shaw starts), FW -- Falcao or RvP? Arguably the most important decision is whether Falcao or RVP starts. I don't like dropping out-of-form strikers (I think they generally just need a goal to get them back on track), but RvP looks very tired. He's had a pretty tough summer, so I think on this occasion he should be benched. Also, Van Gaal is not known for being sentimental, so such a decision wouldn't come as a surprise to me.

I think we'll line up like this (with subs in parentheses):

    -----------De Gea
    Rafael--Evans--Blackett--Rojo (Shaw)
    -------------Blind
    --------Herrera--Di Maria (Januzaj)
    -------------Mata
    ------Falcao (RvP)--Rooney

I'm expecting a win, but not convinced it will be easy. Leicester have played very well so far and are not going to roll over for us. I don't think there will be too much in this game, maybe two goals or so.

    My prediction: We win 3-1.
