Discussion Your Lineup Prediction

  • Amad has been very poor in the first half, but so has almost all every United player. Garnacho is the only one creating something. Otherwise we have been playing with 7-8 defenders and that is why we have had no scoring chances.

7th time this season we havent generated any shot on goal in the first 20 mins of a game, according to espn

Boring half of football. Main positive from United point of view is no lapses in concentration/individual error to concede any goal but will be remarkable to keep that going for 90+ minutes.

EtH got slaughtered for changing his approach, why is Amorim now being asked to do the same?
Because he's trying to make an omelette without the fecking eggs. It's so dumb at this point. The 2 wingbacks aren't wingbacks. The two 10s are better wide. If he takes out a cb and puts in 10, pushes amad and garna wide, we'd be instantly better. Instead we're shoving a system up the arse of a group of players who just can't do it.

There's many angles to look at this from. In terms of playing away at a team in the top 10, it's decent. We've kept it tight, but so have they. Very few chances, very little showing from an attacking sense from both sides.

From our point of view, the play stops whenever Dalot gets on the ball. He hasn't got the vision to play the right pass at the right time or to see 2 or 3 moves ahead. He gets into great positions but isn't then able to take us forward from there. There's been a few occasions where an attack has looked promising on his side and it's ultimately come to nothing.

On the other side, I like the idea of Maz coming in field to underlap Garnacho, but he hasn't really got the skill to take it to the next step, which is the same issue at Dalot. It's the same issues where I think the actual system is fine, but we've got two players in key positions who are lacking for what we need.

At opposite ends of the pitch, Onana keeps kicking the ball long, which is frustrating as feck. Hojlund can't keep the ball and he's not particularly good at finding the space for others to play that key pass. He's not giving them much to work with. When he gets the ball, he also can't hold it up.

Those 4 positions are holding us back. We can't keep the ball due to players being wasteful with it, or not offering enough either on or off it.

Indeed. This has been the case for majority of the season sadly.

I fell asleep in the first 10 minutes and woke up by the 40th. Looking at the stats it doesn't look like I missed much
I think there was a collective hypnosis for everyone watching it. I've got the game on record for the next time I have insomnia. Some sort of Darren brown shit.

Dreadful to watch we are. It's not going to improve at all lads. If he brings in 5 new players this window then we may see some light in this system but at moment just end the season.

All we do is pass it back.

We haven’t been great, but neither have they. 0-0 is accurate.

We’re too deep and can’t seem to keep possession in their half. Amad is having to drop back and play too deep, leaving Hojlund and Garnacho higher up. One didn’t get a lot of long ball to him (Garnacho) and the other nothing was sticking to him.

Our players desperately need to pass the ball around faster. Multiple times Garnacho and Dalot were in space and didn’t get the ball in behind.

We desperately need to sign three or four attacking players who can score goals (not just one striker) - and the only player we are linked with this window is a left back

Liverpool have six players at least who score goals. We have Bruno. That’s it.

Someone also said to me on here the other day that it isn’t strikers we need but midfielders. People are deluded - been saying for three years that goals are our major issue and yet people still talk about different systems with these god awful players

Poor half realy . Hojlund gets to hold it up and pass it on 42 mins . They rest are trying with not much to hit in box. Fulham just hoping we make a mistake or the counter. I this ref doesn't realy fill you with confidence.
This 45 mins shows how much a top quality striker who can hold it is needed. Like a Zlatan or Rooney.

Get Zirkzee on second half. None of our ST gets us goals but at least Zirkzee can hold up and link better. This game needs that

How is he supposed to link when our other attackers are miles away. Zirkzee needs to come on but he will have massive issues unless Amad and Alejandro start running in behind. It's way to easy for Jaochim and the other defender because they are alone with one striker.

We are so easy to play against, just double up on Garnacho and Amad and you're good.

Decent amount of possession but not a single chance created.

Zirkzee should come on for Hojlund. Perhaps Eriksen should come on at some point to actually create us a chance for goal.

Best you can say is at least we are not losing. The De Ligt trickle the only ‘shot’ on target for us

CB's are to afraid to push up, we lack 2 wing backs and Höjlund is just tragic. This is extremly far from the team Ruben had in Portugal.

On the plus side, I've liked it when Martinez has pushed forward and I can see what Amorim is trying to do with the three at the back. The issue is that De Ligt and Maguire just haven't got the same mobility to step forward and then get back into position when necessary. Martinez has appeared on our left side quite a few times and it's a good tactic, but we haven't got a person doing the same thing on the other.

Exactly! The manager should abandon the system that he built his reputation on after just two months so he can get the best out of the likes of Diogo Dalot.

Some people fail to understand that the likes of Diogo Dalot and co won't grt better at passing/crossing/dribbling regardless of the system we play.

Those who watch the youth teams - is there a striker there who could do a better job than these 2 are currently?
I'd say no. Joe Hugill (21) seemed/seems the closest is on loan to Carlisle, and Ethan Wheatley is on loan to Walsall. The fanbase would not give either of them the required time to learn the trade in the PL before jumping all over their shit and saying they should be sold for parts. Hojlund turns 22 in a about a week and the jury has already returned their verdict.

What a dreadful half of football. Amorim was not wrong when he said this might be the worst United team in history

Dire stuff. Every team knows they can go man for man and we can't play out of it. We have neither the technical ability to one touch pass, nor the long pass+hold up play to get out of the press. It's frustrating to see the space left behind by Fulham and us not exploiting it at all. Bruno and Licha are the only two players who seem to have the vision to see the space, the rest are useless in attack.

We need players who can can break the lines from deep. Fulham with Bassey showed us how it's done. And as always we need a striker who can hold up the ball, Jimenez has shown us that too. What a horrendous squad we've assembled.

Zero confidence in the team and it shows. Still think we’ll be better with Zirkzee instead of Hojlund, but seems like our priority is to avoid a defeat tonight.
