  • Sounds like one of those records we like to end nowadays.

I recall a game from memory where we had two red cards, I know Scholes was one but can’t remember the other. I assume this must be the last loss there?
The game with the two red cards (Rooney and Scholes) was the 0-2 loss in March 2009

The 0-3 loss to Fulham (we had an injury hit team) was the last time we lost at Craven Cottage in December 2009

Was Rooney throwing the ball back aggressively. We also lost there 3-0 the following season where we had an insane injury crisis.

Zirkzee starting behind Rasmus just makes sense. I don't know why he haven't tried it considering how blunt we've been with all our other permutations. Yes I know it always one or the other.
We did try it recently and it lasted 30 minutes.

I think Amorim's tens need to run into space. That's not a Zirkzee thing to do. You'd probably be better off having him at centre forward for his hold up play and Hojlund running past him.

I agree. I’d actually be up for trying this as well.

    Results away to Fulham in recent years;

    23/24 - Fulham 0-1 Man Utd (Fernandes)
22/23 - Fulham 1-2 Man Utd (Eriksen, Garnacho)
20/21 - Fulham 1-2 Man Utd (Cavani, Pogba)
    18/19 - Fulham 0-3 Man Utd (Martial, Pogba x2)
13/14 - Fulham 1-3 Man Utd (Valencia, RVP, Rooney)
    12-13 - Fulham 0-1 Man Utd (Rooney)
11/12 - Fulham 0-5 Man Utd (Welbeck, Nani, Giggs, Rooney, Berbatov)
10/11 - Fulham 2-2 Man Utd (Scholes, OG)
    09/10 - Fulham 3-0 Man Utd
    08/09 - Fulham 2-0 Man Utd
    08/09 (Cup) - Fulham 0-4 Man Utd (Tevez x2, Park , Rooney)

Pretty good record for a while now.

Sigh, you had to jinx us, didn't you?

I remember that 0-3 game very well from 18/19 for Martial's solo goal. Ole had joined a couple of months back, and we were absolutely unstoppable under him - we'd won something like 6-7 in a row before that Fulham game. Also reminded me that Craven Cottage was the stadium with the funny angle for TV.

Went back for the video of Martial's goal, it's sad how much better we were then than our sorry state now. That side had an in-form Pogba, an on-song Martial, along with Matic, Herrera, Lukaku, Mata. Funny how Shaw and Dalot were still our full backs that game, six years ago.

I really really would like to be pleasantly surprised today but if not, I have options. Fortunately the NFC Championship game starts at half time so if they are letting me down again, i'll just switch. I am determined to not be depressed tonight.

We have a good record there. I’m still expecting a loss though.

I mentioned this last week, Zirkzee to hold the ball up and play in a couple of runners. Hojlund being one of those.

    Starting line-ups New
    Onana
Mazraoui De Ligt Maguire Martinez Dalot
    Ugarte Bruno
    Amad Garnacho
    Hojlund

I will simply never understand Amorim’s persistence playing Mazraoui at wing back.

Mazraoui at RWB kills me, but we’re not blessed with a lot of options.

Zirkzee comes on in the #10 and Amad goes to RWB is the only attacking change we can make if we’re trailing. Maybe Eriksen for Ugarte too if we’re going all out. We’re really light on attacking options.

Think its a genuine lack of options. Feel like we won't see it particularly often once we sign a LWB.

I'd like to see him get more opportunities at RCB.

Ugh Hojlund in. Guess it'll be waiting til the 2nd half til we can expect anything from our CF in terms of hold up play.

Also gotta stop playing Mazraoui at RWB, need him back at RCB. But then again, limited options. Bruno and Ugarte midfield pairing should help. Garnacho starting again... Doesn't feel like a player who we want to get rid of.

Love moving Bruno deeper and trying to put as much speed upfront as he has available to him. That team's probably the best shot we've got. Hope its good enough.

Christ, can we get a half decent centre forward in before the transfer window closes. Having to alternate between Zirkzee and Hojlund every week, I'm losing the will to live!

Ye I’d go with this team. Hopefully we improve the WBs at some point. A quenda or something would really help us out

We have to choose between occasional runs in behind and some presence in the box at the cost of hold up play (Hojlund), or decent hold up play and decent link up in midfield at the cost of runs in behind and crosses coming in with Zirkzee hanging out miles behind where he should be.

Such an annoying situation. Neither excels at what they’re good that either to justify their deficiencies.

    This! Beg, borrow, loan, ANYTHING

Just get a striker that can actually put the ball in the back of the bloody net, you know like a striker is actually supposed to do

Although I do not want another Wout!!!

Mazraoui and and Hojlund have been out of the team for a couple of games, I reckon Amorim wanted them on the training ground more for a bit. Hopefully they can show improvement today.

Starting with Hojlund over Zirkzee week after week is odd. Especially when you can see that Amad, Bruno and Garnacho are better when they have striker who can hold the ball.
