This is what troubles me about the offside decision today. We all know — or maybe this is no longer the case — that an arm cannot be offside. However, an arm — and perhaps this is no longer the case — plays you onside.
If the line is drawn from the tip of the defender’s hand, Amad is clearly onside. But if it’s drawn from the defender’s shoulder, then Amad is clearly offside.
When did it become the case that the line is now drawn from the shoulder, or foot, of the defender and not the furthest part of the defender’s body, whatever it may be?
