Do we have enough players to field a first 11? I think the problem isn’t the training as such but the recruitment. We’ve basically signed a slew of injury prone players, although Maguire isn’t on that list I don’t think.

Chelsea went into the Westham game today with 16 injured players and won 5:0 so I don’t accept the 37 excuses from Eric.
Did they play that match or any other this season with no natural left back and midfielders filling in at centre back?

    Hojlund
    Garnacho Bruno Antony
    Mainoo Mount
    Amass Casemiro Bissaka Dalot
    Onana

Next to no one looking forward to United games under ten Hag anymore it seems...

I liked Ole much more as a manager, his United past aside, he was an articulate bloke and tactically much better than Ten Hag imo.
We look like a freaking Championship side every time we enter the pitch under ETH. I hate the football he is playing, absolutely hate it.

LVG and Mourinho are boring, but they got a concept atleast and a system. With ETH it's just a shower of shite tactically, every time for 10 months now...
He can't even get the best out of Bruno, who looked world class under Ole.

Enough is enough, sack the damn lad already!
Can't listen to his excuses in the media anymore and his robot like style of talking.

If this was at home, I could see this team successfully struggle to a draw. But at Selhurst Park? No chance. We haven’t won there in 4 years.

Crystal Palace win 3:1. Eze will have a good time against The Donut Team. This will also confirm our 8th place finish.

With a ridiculous percentage of them being in training. There is something truly broken at our club
Something is seriously not working behind the scenes here. This is way past the 'oh, we're just unlucky'.

Take a look at City. A team that has a good enough squad to be able to rotate and get the same results. Rarely any injury crisis there.

Point is: Get 2 very good players in each position and some players who can cover more than just one position. It’ll lessen any potential injury crisis and create competition for everyone to perform (looking at you Rashford and Casemiro).

Didn't Van Gaal have a issues with CB's at one point? when McNair and Blackett had to come in, so maybe it's a Dutch thing.

I vaguely remember Fergie having something similar in one of his latter seasons too, but it was totally out of the norm, this just seems to be what passes as normal nowadays.
We've been having an injury crisis in the centre of defence almost every season since at least 06/07, when it likely cost us a CL title.

In the last 18 years, I think there's only been 3 seasons where we haven't had a period where we had to go way down the pecking order (often playing midfielders there). 15/16 with Smalling and Blind, then 19/20 and 20/21 with Maguire and Lindelof (and even then Lindelof played with a back injury for most of that second season). Every other season in those 18 years we've had problems in that position.

The difference is that in those previous seasons it's only lasted a month or so, whereas this time it's been all season long.

Jesus, I think you’ve finally cracked it. that sound a great idea

If we win, positive for ten Hag. If we lose, no center-backs available so good enough excuse.

06/07 we had a crazy defensive injury crisis at the end of the season. 09/10 around Christmas we had an absolutely mental one. Then it’s got more and more common since then. It’s happened regularly for years.

Was the 09/10 one when Villa beat us at OT 1-0? Remember being fuming at that game.

    not like this season

    sustained injuries over months

we havent been able to field a natural left back since Reguillon left!

Yeah, but more importantly the season when Chelsea beat us at home with Drogba being about 10 yards offside, and we lost the title to them by a single point. Lovely.

Jonny Evans might be able to play. That's it. Maguire, Varane, Martinez, Lindelöf and Kambwala are out
Johny Evans joining to keep himself fit while looking for a new club ending up being the most reliable CB United have all season has to be the comeback story of the year. Although probably everyone including himself would be happier if United's defence was more stable (in every sense)

To be without Maguire now is a big loss for us. He has been one of our best players this season and by far our best central defender.

One can blame ETH for a bad season. But it can't just be his fault alone. The fact that we have so many injuries throughout an entire season must point to a big fault of the entire coaching staff. It's crazy. We have a squad without a single central defender!

With Maguire out I don't see how we are going to beat Crystal Palace at all. And it shouldn't be one of the toughest opponents in the league.

I would think we have Casemiro and McTominay in defense today. Playing with Evans would be taking a big chance if we want any defenders to be ready to play against City later.

We may struggle with set pieces tonight without Harry. Andersen may bully us for their corners.

Thanks mate, I hope Evans can play with Casemiro and even if he does it is doubtful he will last the 90. feckin nightmare, we need players back to try and build a bit of confidence up for the FA Cup final.

I think you have to change shape with all these injuries. Maybe 3 at the back with 2 playing cdm. Maybe Mctominay at CB since he’s played there internationally. But have him covered by Cas and Mainoo. Amad and Garnacho on the wings to track back. Mount and Bruno behind Hojlund. If it’s set up correctly that formation could work and keep us protected.

    Onana

    Dalot Mctominay AWB

    Casemiro Mainoo

    Amad Bruno Mount Garnacho

    Hojlund

A manager has to adapt. This is where tactics (and motivation) come to the fore. If he continues with our low block plus fake high press tactics we are in trouble.

Remember Wolfsburg away where we won with Carrick, Fletcher and Park in defence
