One: I can’t stand Gary Neville on commentary, the guy tries so hard to be neutral that he’s actually so biased against us.
Two: how on earth was that a foul by Shaw? It’s a 50/50 challenge where both players fly in and for my money both touch the ball, the follow through looks bad in SLOW MOTION, how is that reflective of real time play?
Three:That’s then easily a red card challenge on Cavani
Four: How on earth has that Maguire goal been ruled out, that’s never a foul.

Summary, this ref is shocking, he’s making the game all about Burnley and punishing us for the most minor of challenges while letting them get away with murder. We should be 1-0 up against 10 men here.

Hope we come out now in the second half and start playing. We are getting sucked into the physical battle and the ref is ensuring we lose it. We need to move the ball faster and between the lines and we can score. What a horrible game.

The rules say otherwise. If the level of contact is deemed too harsh or dangerous then it’s a free kick no matter if you got the ball first.
Whatever, I take back from what I said... Shaw didn't get the ball at all.

This is what we thought it would be. Proper test. We're doing ok, gradually starting to dominate possession and create. This would be a huge win.

Guarantee their winner will be a push on the back of one of our players not given

He is but he's taking far too many touches which allows them to get behind the ball.....

Well, to be fair, we are on the front foot.

They will probably be with 9 man behind the ball whole second half.

I'd much rather keep Matić on, he's not getting dispossesed at least.

We just need to circulate the ball. An opening will arrive. I have no doubt.

Ole better be screaming at him at HT. More likely to offer him a polo mint though

This "Ole is so nice" myth really needs to die.

But back to the game, The VAR team, the ref and Burnley can all take a big slice of yesterdays salmon that was left in the open before they all get stuck in an elevator together for 24 hours.

Marcus Rashford trying to show Ole he is not good on right side episode 74.

Martial is also central player not left Winger.

Move Rashford to The left bring greenwood on for Martial or Cavani

and please please put Fred on for Matic because we have 3 midfielders and they 50 metres apart.

Worst nad weirdest half of football match i have ever seen.
Greenwood isn't going to survive this game. I mean he went quiet in softer games, Burnley is an even more tussler of a game.

If the reverse happened and we got out of a red card because they pulled back for a tackle that was hardly even a foul the world would go mad

Maguire, Matic and Shaw the standouts first half. The ref doing his best to ruin this game. Maybe basketball is more his thing. Or he could try a career as a musician. Attention seeking prat.

Yep. To expect no contact from Maguire on the defender there is madness. Burnley didn't even appeal it. That usually says it all.
    This.

This game is currently an almighty joke. But of course it would become so given the context

Burnleys entire game plan revolves around constantly getting cheap decisions in their favour, how does it work? Is it because refs see them as the underdog, or because Dyche constantly bitches about how hard done by he is in the media?

They keep the ball in the air as much as possible as it takes all the skill out of the game and makes it a lottery.
They'll get plenty of fouls that way.

Still haven't got my head around the Maguire goal getting disallowed. VAR was supposed to fix dodgy refereeing decisions, not add to them.

And Gary Neville can feck right off, the tit.

I thought the complaint was more that VAR was employed to pull the game back to that foul, when in many cases VAR has not been used to do that. Seems like despite the technology, we are dependent on shithousery from the "elite" refs of the game.

They probably notified him that there was a contact at the start so VAR took the chance and reviewed it as well. At the end of the day I really can't complain, I was actually surprised during the play that he didn't give a foul for it at the start. I was hoping they would forget about it but oh well.

Have I got my Utd blinkers firmly on, or is there ridiculously little being said about the wrong call to rule out Maguire's goal?

I'm with you. Also shaw call was wrong one as was the handball. Amazingly no replay of it....cavani attempted a bicycle ( I think) rebounded and hit defenders face and then the other guys arm.....is that not a pen??

    Disgustingly lazy player nowadays.

Stats back it up too. Always the lowest in our team for pressures, successful pressures (good indicator to the intensity in which he goes into them) and intense sprints.

In a team containing Martial, that's ridiculous.

    Today

Intense Sprints 0 - Joint lowest in the team
Pressures 0 - Lowest in the team

That cant be right and if so, I need to see those stats, because he's the only player for us who consistently runs in behind.

We’re playing right into Burnley’s hands. This stop-start game is exactly what they want. Ruining any fluidity in our play.

Despicable team, can’t wait for them to become a nothing club once again.

If the defender jumps over the striker to head that ball clear, do you see a penalty given? Never in a million years. The Shaw/Brady decision was bad - to disallow Maguires was criminal.

Win or lose, Ole needs to come out after the game and say that this sort of abject refereeing is a direct result of Klopps attempts to influence officials.

Anyone complaining about a slow build up should realise Burnley's pitch is extremely dry, the ball is moving so slow. A planned tactic which is why they're pressing us really high up the pitch.

We've played well and if not for continuous stoppages and a feckshow from Friend, we'd be up going into half time.

Like some others have said, four minutes stoppage time is a complete joke, I was sure it would be six or seven.

We've played well and should be up in this game.

Martial left isn't working for me. He is in poor scoring form and out left you don't get the link up he offers as a CF, either.

Get Rashford left, Greenwood right and keep piling on the pressure.
Martial shouldn’t be on the pitch based on his form.

Get him off. I would actually bring Scott on and push Pogba further up.
