I never want to hear Varchester United again. Noone can tell me that goal would have been disallowed if Harvey Barnes had done that to Maguire.

Phew. We finally have taken control of the game after the Shaw-Brady farce but overall this is every bit as unpleasant and scrappy as every game against this shithouse side. It will be very hard to create any quality chances against them, we'll have to score with a half-chance or some hopeful shot from distance.

Have I got my Utd blinkers firmly on, or is there ridiculously little being said about the wrong call to rule out Maguire's goal?

That miss by Rashford highlight what I think is his biggest problem. In those kind of situation a real striker/goalgetter would just hit the ball first time. Either with his weak foot or with the outside of his good foot. Or he would open up his body to make room for a right-footed shot, without having to touch the ball two or three times.

Rashford too often has to control the ball and look up at where the keeper is. He doesn't have the natural instinct that is required to finish chances quickly which is vital when sourrounded with defenders in the box. Martial has a similar problem.

Should have had a pen for the handball, Maguire scored a perfectly good goal, first time I have seen VAR give a free-kick on the other side of the pitch too. Weird game.

Wtf is wrong with Rashford? Looks like he is playing 5 a side with his mates.

I'm absolutely fuming man at that decision I can't... I just cannot believe it

What a shitty half in every way. Burnley really do play the worst football in the division. No one will miss them when they're gone.

Ole better be screaming at him at HT. More likely to offer him a polo mint though

I get why the ref turned that around and gave a free kick to Burnley. I don't agree with the call, but I can see that an argument can be made for it. What I don't understand is how he can then give Shaw a yellow card. Since when is VAR used to give yellow cards?

Then Maguire's goal. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. He won the header on a ball that's there to be won. If that's a foul then we won't see headed goals ever in the game. Brutal call. If the ref let that go and VAR reviewed it there's no way a goal would be called back. Absolutely brutal...

Unpopular opinion but overall play this season Marcus has been just as bad as Martial he just has a few more goals. His overall play has been poor a lot this season. Hopefully he pops up with the goal to cover it up as I feel 1 goal wins this

He's going at speed at the ball reaches it but in the follow through his studs touch the guys shin, he immediately pulls his foot away to avoid maximum force. His foot has to move somewhere after getting the ball. Anyways the maguire decison is possibly worse.

Yep. To expect no contact from Maguire on the defender there is madness. Burnley didn't even appeal it. That usually says it all.

2 absolutely ridiculous uses of VAR and jokes of decisions in that half. We should be ahead and probably should be a man up (though that one is more 50/50). That goal being disallowed is a fecking robbery.

We've played well and should be up in this game.

Martial left isn't working for me. He is in poor scoring form and out left you don't get the link up he offers as a CF, either.

Get Rashford left, Greenwood right and keep piling on the pressure.

The only thing more infuriating than VAR is people not knowing the rules and bashing VAR. Learn, then comment, please. As the Shaw-incident happens first and gets punished, the second decision kind of never happened. Unless it’s violent conduct, which this wasn’t of course. So the yellow is washed away correctly, as it would if it was a red card. First is first.

As for Shaw, the «I touched the ball so then I can do whatever I want with my studs»-rule does not exist, never has. Him touching the ball (if at all, I didn’t really see it) saves him from a red I guess. He correctly gets the yellow for the follow-through, going into the tackle at that pace is endangering the player with your lead foot, studs out. Amazing this still needs to be explained after hundreds of similar incidents.

Glad none of these got a red card, even Brady was somewhat covered by Mee who could intervene once Cavani gets to the ball. Shaw also didn’t massacre the other player, although not a good tackle.
Since you’re the VAR tsar, give one other example of it being used to book a player and give a free kick.

What an awful team Burnley are. Proper hoofball, out there to break legs but go down like theyve been shot whenever anybody so much as breathes on them. All ably assisted by a stellar performance from Friend.

The football world would be delighted if they were relegated all the way down to League One.

We look very sloppy and plus those two decisions were very questionable. Not many things to be satisfied with. It's going to be very tough to break them

Frustrating first half, took us a long time to get into the game. Some very close decisions made which could have gone either way. Shaw is lucky to stay on, it was a 50/50 call whether it was a red or yellow and he is fortunate it went his way, in which the whole scenario was unlucky as it should have been a red at the other end. Maguire’s goal was unlucky not to stand. Keep at it in the 2nd and we can get the goal.
