    We get leathered.
    ETH sacked in the morning.

Think it will be anothet draw like Thursday night. We have enough quality players to scrap a result no matter what setup or tactics the manager has in mind.
They will be hurt after all the media talk but not good enough for a win.
Score draw, 2-2 or 3-3 again, hopefully his last match but cant predict that one as not enough history of the Ineos machine.

Glad this is the 2pm kickoff game as we can get this over with sooner.

If everyone of note in the United hierarchy is supposedly having a summit meeting very soon and Ratcliffe is going to a rare away game, something has to be going down.

Not confident at all with this game. Villa will be up for it after beating Bayern this week. We scraped with a draw and away. Might be another long afternoon. At least losing on a Sunday I get to spend the Saturday without mopping around the house

If United get an early goal they might hold on for a draw, but they'll have to play out of their skins.

If Villa score first, United will fold.

    What makes you so confident

They're a better side than Spurs who completely demolished us with a flattering scoreline and they'll be on a high at home after beating Bayern. The writing is on the wall, but in football anything can happen. We're definitely heavy underdogs

Every post I read expects Villa to batter us.
Quite seemingly happy to see defeat cos they think it'll hasten ETH's demise.
Indeed. The manager is really that bad. He has an overwhelming amount of fans wishing against their team.

I’m one of them. He’s that awful.

Its very simple - If you want Manchester United to lose then your not a Manchester United supporter.

Have to disagree here and say it’s not that black and white. There are some crisis scenarios where a loss is better for the medium and long term health, wealth and success of the club.

This is one of these scenarios today.

When ETH is faced with the prospect of getting sacked. He will always win the next game. I don't want us to lose any game, and I genuinely hope we kill villa today. That one game could spark us into life.

How many times has this been said over the years

So many of the fans want Man Utd to lose so that ETH can get fired.

I want United to beat Villa and will never want them to lose. Not my job to sack the manager the club should be making those decisions without the emotion of us mere football fans.

There's a bit of a weird irony about it.

We want to lose to see a useless manager sacked, however that implies that we believe the new guys in charge are so incompetent they are making the decision on a game by game basis, which obviously wouldn't bode well going forward

If winning means being stuck with a manager who's doing more harm than good, then feck yeah I dont want us to win this match.

All these "Do X or you're not a Man Utd fan" is just gatekeeping nonsense. Stop being so shortsighted and try to see the bigger picture.

I want us to win more games than we lose over the next month. What gives us the best chance at that?

Obviously it's all hypothetical, but it'd be absolute insanity to keep EtH if we lose again. If we scrape a shit win, then there obviously is a world where they keep him til the next international break in a month. I'd prefer not to throw our season away in October.

I would respect INEOS more if they sacked him even if we won today. It would demonstrate to me that they’re serious and can see the bigger picture.

Because there are some fans who would want to stick with a manager who just beat some Sunday league team from Wythenshawe 1-0 despite losing the previous 10 PL league games in the past few months.

People wanting United to lose and ETH sacked after this game and an interim take over till June must've forgotten our performances under Rangnick

Ah yes the gatekeeper nonsense of wanting your football team to win football matches.

The only match I'd ever want to lose is if winning it meant Liverpool won the title.
I want United to win every match they play, it's not up to me who the manager is, that's down to the owners etc.

There's zero guarantee that a loss will result in ETH's sacking. Do you just keep wishing the team loses until the board does sack him?
Maybe the board has a replacement in mind, but they're not attainable til the summer. What then, hope the team keeps losing or start cheering them on?

Thing is, we've supposedly got rid of the "rotten apples" since then. Something fans were celebrating and giving ETH credit for. I genuinely think the problem players have been let go, and that this lot give effort in games. They're clearly committing to whatever ETH is asking for, whether that's to press harder, sit in deep, commit men forward etc. So if the next guy has better ideas, I'd expect a better outcome.

We will win this most likely, We always seem to get result when it looks like there is no hope. Will take whatever result today with no emotions

But it will just prolong the pain if we win. Unless i see changes and that ETH is willing to admit mistakes, there is no point in getting excited or upset about one single result

We've absolutely got a chance. The saying about a broken clock being right twice a day seems to come to mind over last season with this fixture, as the way Villa set up with the high line etc just seemed to suit us to the ground. I remember they kept playing the offside tap, but would be caught out by runs from deeper players. It gave us an easy way to get at them, and therefore we kept trying it over and over until it worked.

I've not seen Villa this season, so I don't know if they've adjusted or not since then. But if not, I'm sure we'll be looking to do that over and over again. The fact that they drew 2-2 with Ipswich means they can be got at. They've conceded a few goals and had to mount a couple of big comebacks already this season, which they can't keep up surely.

I'm therefore confident we can get something here. I just hope that it isn't then painted as redemption for Ten Hag, because that's not what it will be. It will be the above playing out. And I've a feeling we'll drop more points after the break.

This game should not influence INEOS, when they have their meeting, they should discuss everything and consider all things over the time ETH has been here.

I will never wish for a loss, that's not supporting, it's glory hunting. As a supporter you're supposed to be there through thick and thin.

You make a good point. I don’t know what I’d do in that situation. Because if he’s still here until the summer then we will be in the deepest depths of the league.

Win this and we are at a respectable position point wise and look forward to the international break with Shaw and Malacia to come back. The same could be said before the spurs loss and we know what happened. All tbe ETH sack drama aside, still want us to win. It’s been 18 days since we’ve won a game. The international break will be torment if we don’t come out of this winning

Yeah but have doubts they are going to do that

Not really. An establishment that makes a mockery of a managerial appointment by reducing it to a baseball style strikes on the board is doomed to fail. Either he is good for us or isn’t.

How can we reduce the decision of the best path forward as an outcome of a single game? Even if we somehow win, the sword will continue to hang above his head.

Absolute shambles the way this has been dealt with. I refuse to believe that we are indecisive because decisions in other areas have been swift. The only way this makes sense is that we are skint and don’t have the money to either pay ETH or his successor so we are hoping this somehow drags on.

I do agree with you (I always support United to win and will be doing so today) but, even if we are getting a new manager next summer, we still need to do as well as possible for the rest of this.

Yes, the best case is that Erik does a decent enough job to get us top 4 or wins the Europa but does that seem likely to happen given how inept he appears to be at most aspects of managing this team? If we lose today and get an interim in, I strongly suspect that we will be far better off in a month’s time than if we scrape a draw and keep Erik.

I understand people express their support and what they think best for the club in their own ways. Don't get the certainty some have that one more defeat will result in his sacking.

We'll see what happens today I guess. Happier I saw story linking us to Alonso this morning rather than Southgate at least.

We were far better under Rangnick and that saying something.
