Think we are going to play on the counter here and we need to sit deep and Maguire is brilliant in the air so I'd go with something like this:

    Onana
    Maz De Ligt Maguire Martinez
    Casemiro Ugarte Mainoo
    Amad Bruno Garnacho

Please just play 3 in the middle and stop playing Bruno as part of that 3 and give Dalot a rest, he's not a LB and it's going to ruin his confidence.
Please consider readying your CV for a possible job application as this is the most sense I've seen written about United in a long long time. Why Ten Haag cant twig this God only knows.

I like the idea of 532/352 for a while. It's talented wide players who suffer but we're just so poor elsewhere
Made a thread about it last year and got shot down but we need to stop leaking goals, it's hardly like we create much anyway in current formation. A steady base gives you a chance to play/compete.

Mainoo can come in for Eriksen and we can swap around attackers, maybe even a Bruno/Zirksee combo could be effective.

The same Bruno/Zirkzee combo we had vs Spurs?

We'll probably somehow get a draw here, ETH won't be fired and the Caf will be furious!

I think he'll still be the manager even if we lose.
Standards have dropped so low that 8th or 13th in the league is acceptable. In fact, I am staggered that we are 13th place, -3 GD and entering most games as the underdogs. I would not have thought we'd drop to this low.

As for the game: I don't see us winning. Aston Villa are a top 6 team and ETH's record against the top 6 is dreadful.

Sorry guys, but for outsiders the Ten Hag saga is quite entertaining.

The anticipation for the sack is quite suspenseful !

Kind of like Rocky, gets beat a lot but he hangs in there!

Got away with a win there last year when Villa missed a stack of chances. Can we be so lucky again? Maybe not.

Not particularly looking forward to this one, beyond the blind belief that it's a new game.

Reckon he'd still be sacked if we win unconvincingly. Only a dominant win would buy him some time.

We'll no doubt step up and win this game, then give Ten Hag another few weeks to lose a couple, draw a couple, but win the game he needs to do to keep his job, then repeat the cycle all over again.

You can't help but admire his ability to avoid been sacked.

Fernandez will try his best antics to get sent off again.

I am surprised people are mostly taking about the villa away game only . If you see the next 3 or 4 fixtures they are winnable games.
We also have good record against Villa -hopefully that will repeat.

Would love for us to win this, but I have seen a team that is unwilling to get stuck in physically. Tactically we may be okay, but physically and mentally we will lose.

I fear the Grim Reaper in the stands is coming for Ten Hag.

Lots of fans seem to be underestimating Villa.

It will be our Beach boys playing against proper Athletes

Pretty sure we'll get hammered here. Villa are a far better side.

Considering we've been winning all our winnable games, that's a great point.

There's a win on the cards here.

    Utd to win 3-1.

Unless he decides to play Casemiro and Eriksen in a midfield 2 again.

Ugarte and Mainoo were probably rested with this game in mind.
Just like Rashford and Garnacho only got 45 minutes with this game in mind. Think we are looking to play over the their defensive line

Yeah I'd play Maguire as well.

If anything it gives us a chance to get something from set pieces. Him and de Ligt would be a real handful for Villa.

The goals aren't exactly flowing, anything from a corner or free kick is a massive bonus right now.

I think we'll get the win here. Villa are not as good as proclaimed and the match during the week will have made a lasting effect. Despite being quite inconsistent, when on it United are a good side. 1:0 win!

So you play Maguire to ruin everyone's confidence, the bloke has one good game in ten

Hopefully Dan Ashworth and Wilcox tell ETH that we need to make some changes in our structure and system. May be going for 433 rather than 4231 or this 424. We need to strengthening the midfield structure more.

    Zirkzee Hojlund Garnacho
    Mainoo Ugarte Bruno
    Dalot Martinez de Ligt Mazraoui
    Onana
