  • The problem with that argument is that we know he has a veto, so had to agree with every signing made.

The downside of that is that he doesn't get to wash his hands of the results.
Not really how the veto works. Sure you can say I don’t want x player I prefer y. But if its x player or no one as the choice then a veto doesn’t fell you a lot

Everyone should be happy about the central defense. One more 4-0 and its curtains. I think it’s worth it if it means we get him out of the club.

All those millions spent and we're starting his most important game with Evans and Maguire.

    Can you believe it?

It pretty much sums it up perfectly.

Maguire, Evans? Is he actually mad?
I honestly think he's trying to make a point (no idea what point). It was weird in midweek changing both CBs too.

I really think he does all this shot to try and be really clever. He deserves the sack and I think he's been the worst manager of the lot.

Agreed, that is the only scenario under which starting Maguire and Evans against a team as good as this makes any kind of sense.

Then again, if that's the plan, why start Eriksen? Well, there's the passing for counters obviously, but on the whole he is not an asset in that situation.
He's probably banking on long passes over the Villa defence

I don't understand why we can't just try and go back to basics and make ourselves difficult to beat. Play a midfield of Ugarte, Casemiro and Mainoo. Try to keep things tight. Build a foundation.
Probably because hes been set goals that go beyond results.

Yes, it seems that Juve and Bayern realised that De Ligt is not good enough for them so why is he good enough for us ?
Because EtH wanted him at all costs??
He got most of the players that he wanted but most of them were/are a big disappointment - he's hard headed !!
A team selling a player doesn't mean they're not good enough.
You've said it yourself about players we sold...

What a bad lineup built for disaster.

    two slow CBs
    no defensive midfielder
Rashford and Garna are too similar in play style

So this is the team EtH chooses to die with. Alright, let the games begin. Wow my line-ups predictions scores have gone to pot. Can't with for this inept coach to get lost from our club.
I've only got 8 from the initial 11 as well, and yep I left out the oldies, thinking he would bring them on around 60mins if we were struggling to defend a slim lead, ETH however seems to want to defend 0-0 before we've even started.

I would agree. No point evaluating any of our players until we get a proper coach.

We could go round and round in circles arguing exactly how good these players are, but our PPG over the last 19 games (half a season!) would have us finish about 14th/15th...that's ludicrous, absolutely criminal.
Agreed, disgraceful. I've no doubt he'll be moaning about not be given enough time if he gets the boot but this, plus 1 win in the last 10 games in Europe, more than would justify the decision.

No surprises with the lineup. I'm was sure he was making it up as he goes. Somehow managed to play a defense slower than DeLigt and Martinez, and a midfield weaker than Casemiro and Mainoo.

Watch us fluke a victory here btw. It has been put way the last several years. That should see him remain until after the international break.

He's there for his set pieces. Only guy in our team who can deliver decent corners.

It's centre backs suited to sitting deep and forwards that are suited to playing on the counter but a midfield that struggles off the ball.

We're just a weird Frankenstein's monster of a side and that's why we're where we are.

Villa is going to run through that team

It may get ugly if we havent changed the tactics as well to suit the slow CB and midfield with Bruno

This argument is so ridiculous. Bayern are five times better than us. Their rejects are twice as good as any player we have. Not good enough for an elite club does not mean they're not good enough for us. We are not an elite top club anymore, we have to build our way up and there is a reason we can't attract the best players in the world.

What the hell is that line up? Evans and Maguire? And no Ugarte to help them? The middle of our defense will be exposed for pace even more than it already was against Spurs. fecking hell.

ETH is playing for a sack, it’s clear

The suffering is nearly over, lads. Just one more humiliation to go and we're done.
If you hink that you are wrong, no-one not even Fergie in his prime could turn this around overnight.
These players are not match fit, they are not alert, and they are not in the right mental state to go on a prolonged winning streak

Everyone should be happy about the central defense. One more 4-0 and its curtains. I think it’s worth it if it means we get him out of the club.
Every point we make, every goal we score will be needed by the club whoever the manager

I mean on the last game of his tenure, he relents to play counter attacking football. Bonkers that a light bulb has finally gone off in his brain. Watch us win this now.

Either he knows or is looking for the sack

    Or

We are going to sit deep today and defend and hit them on counter attacks.

This is a last gasp from Erik....going to players he believes still have some belief in him and asking them to do a special job just for him.

Or he's once again trying to make a point about squad weakness...

Either way It's a desperate move that won't play well with the club hierarchy.

Toast whatever the score today I think.

Meeting on Tuesday will be to agree which option to pursue as his replacement...from cheap through to pricey.

The briefings have already started. How many minutes into the game will the Villa fans be singing "sacked in the morning!"?

Matinez and De Ligt had a bad game against Porto, but to drop them both is kind of a big feck you to the investment he's been a big part of. Add to that a midfield without Cas or Ugarte, and it gets really worrying.

The worst part about this is that this is his 3rd year and when most players are available, we still have no clue who our best starting 11 are. Feels like we're stil experimenting.

Every point we make, every goal we score will be needed by the club whoever the manager
Fine 4-1 then. I couldn’t care what the score line is. More pressing issue is we need him gone. It does more harm LT if he is here no matter how many goals we score today or even if we get 3 points.

Our fans are something else. Unbelievable.
Maguire was utter shit for two years now and cost us points and points.
But all what it was needed is one header and fans forgot everything.
Same story is with other players. All what is needed is one good game.
One of the reasons we end up accepting the level we’re at now.

I just had a strong sense of deja vu. We've got our own boom bust cycle.
