Disgusting images from Jerusalem

It is obvious, they want hostages released, but no ceasefire. Only donkeys like Blinken will parrot nonsense statements that Israel accepted the deal unequivocally.

He's not wrong.

Netanyahu and the right wingers want Hamas out of Gaza, which means no ceasefire

Sinwar probably thinks the war and subsequent international condemnation has Israel on the back foot, which benefits the Hamas political position. He is also keenly aware that whatever hostages he has under his control are the last bargaining chips he has to keep himself alive.

Biden and his team are making a public spectacle that they are actively trying to broker a ceasefire deal for domestic consumption, knowing that a lasting ceasefire is never going to work as long as Sinwar remains in business in Gaza.

All three point to no lasting deals for the foreseeable future.

It's more simple than that. Hamas want a permanent ceasefire, Israel does not.

I'm not sure how you ever walk back from such evil thoughts. Maybe it's just coping strategy but once you elevate yourself above others to that extreme I'm not sure you'll ever truly recognise it as wrong.

And as usual, in the “only democracy in the ME”, in this “country of laws”, nothing will happen to those who do this. It will happen again tomorrow.

I think that I shared it before but listen to the answers even when they clearly understand that something is wrong:

It's crazy, in a "normal country", civilians go around with automatic rifles in a big city like Jerusalem shooting people for fun.

From an Israeli account that is in touch with many IDF people (and tracks their progress through Gaza)

Key points:
The IDF thus intends to eventually "West-Bankify" the Gaza Strip: Multiple Palestinian controlled pockets cut off from each other through IDF military corridors, pacified through regular raids.
...
This is also why the negotiations are not producing a ceasefire: Why would Sinwar trade hostages for very temporary benefits (1 month of ceasefire, return of civilians to the North) in a years long war, if he intends to trade them all for victory down the road? It would lose him the war. The only ceasefire he should ever be interested in is a permanent one, and I have reiterated this every time Hamas pretended to be interested in a ceasefire only to then return to their demand for an end of the war again (which in all honesty is the only thing that wouldn't be a loss for them).
...
What then is the Israeli day-after for Gaza? Essentially, a second West Bank. Without a Palestinian Authority. Perhaps they will eventually settle on clans or some other group, or maybe they will keep Hamas in charge (just incapable of military activity after total arms blockade through Philadelphi and years of attritional warfare). The war may have gone quite differently had Israel decided on an alternative to replace Hamas rule on day 1, had it attempted the difficult path of winning hearts and minds - but this is not the strategy Israel would ever accept, and in Israel's case would probably not have worked anyway.

This same account has also been posting about the invasion of Lebanon, supposedly in August.

All the same body parts, but not the same, not equal. Or something like that. Gotcha.
The sentence had me rolling because there was an 80's sketch of a fantastic french comedian named Coluche called "The Arab riot squad officer" where this exact sentence was used.

I'm sure @JPRouve or any french speaking poster understood the reference.

That settler forgot to mention "rectum" which is probably where the Palestinians rank in his body parts hierarchy. His enlightening testimony is reflected in this excellent documentary about the Israeli settlers and their ideological/religious indoctrination. If you think that Palestinian children are indoctrinated, just watch how it works on the other side.

These guys numbers are growing each passing day.

Both are happening if nothing's done. That's what Netanyahu wants, and what the corpse in the White House and his travelling pathological liar will get him.

The failure of this sham of a cease-fire will be then blamed on Hamas, just like the Camp David Accords failure was put on Arafat's bill.

I have seen the August date before for the Lebanon invasion, so that might be accurate.

So Biden going public with that 3-phase proposal is now looking like a nothingburger, I guess?

Seems like it. Like many nothing burgers of news saying that Biden was very mwad mwad mwad at Netanyahu but signing an arms delivery the next day. All PR stunts for electoralism

And for a moment I thought he wouldn't go public like that unless he was dead serious that it was gonna happen.

The gunmen just happily loitering about.

He was shot, then taken to hospital, then detained by the police.

After detaining him, despite his serious injury, for more than 20 hours, the occupation decided, a short while ago, to release the young man from Jerusalem, Sinan Barakat, on the condition that he be kept away from the vicinity of his store for two weeks. Four Israeli soldiers (in civilian clothing) opened fire on the Jerusalemite merchant Bassam Barakat and his son Sinan, near their shop in the bazaar market in the Old City of Jerusalem, and wounded two others with moderate wounds, according to a statement by the occupation police, which described the attempted murder as a “fight,” denying the description of terrorism. . After the attack, the occupation forces arrested the brother of the injured person, Anas Barakat, for the purpose of investigation and deported him from the Old City as well, while the four assailants were released hours after the incident. The police said that the soldiers “felt in danger,” justifying their crime, while Jerusalemites are being executed in cold blood and without evidence or trial, as soon as they were suspected or accused of an attempted stabbing.

Me too! I thought that it would be a tied deal with all parties if he dared to lay out in a public statement. And now we don't know if either of the 2 parts accepted

Didn't he like 3 months ago announce that a deal would happen the following Monday while eating an ice cream? Acting like bumbling idiots has been their strategy all along.

I wouldn’t say I’ve lost hope for the world but yeah, it’s purely just run by vested self interests, control, money and power. There’s very little right and wrong, in the grander scheme of things, per se.

only two countries in the entire world are against making food a right.

no, I don't think about it that way. so yes, ignorance is bliss for that matter.
what would you say to pretty much all the Americans in the USA? should they feck off to Europe?
Not at all. It's strictly a legal question. Legally, it is occupied territory and the settlers are a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention, article 49. I think it's fair to say that Israel carried out its conquest in the wrong century, when international law was established among nations.

I'll stick to holding hope that this is no more than Israel's attempt to send signals.

But with Netanyahu refusing to end the war in Gaza, and Hezbollah therefore refusing to stop firing towards Israel, I don't know how much longer this can go on without further escalation.

Every single type of stereotypical villain that exists is prominent in the IDF. Sniping kids for a laugh, mass torture, medical experimentation, parading with the bras of Gazan women, and just random sadism. Guess every occupying force is similar, but maybe the length of this occupation and the hate that's inoculated over these decades, makes them rise above many others.
