Television RedCafe's Favourite TV Shows Of All Time Contest (THE RESULTS)

It was the best of shows, it was the worst of shows.

Surprised to see GOT so high, but if it had kept up the quality until the end then it really would have been one of the greatest TV series of all time.

It’s a big if, but if this had maintained the quality of seasons 1-4 right until the end then it would’ve been my number 1 quite easily. At its peak it was phenomenal.
Wouldn't be as impactful as The Wire still because let's face it, you're still talking to flying dragons and running around ice zombies and stuff.

I'm surprised it wasn't in the top 5. Even its worst season is better than most tv shows. (S8 doesn't exist). Don't think they'll even be a show with so many amazing characters and just absolute bastards of villians in it. Especially all the shocking moments and epic battles. D&D are actually geniuses for how bad they got it wrong in the final season. A 5 year old could have done a better job.

Into the top 5!

I must make an effort to go back and revisit this. I watched it fully stoned and couldn't distinguish between characters.

Good series. Love the winter episode. Still don't think it's one of the best ever.

Just fecking epic. Watch it once a year or so.

Yeah it's brilliant. Not too keen on the first Blackadder but subsequent ones are great, again British humour isn't easy to understand which is why it may not appeal to non UK/Irish folk. I'm love the series.

Depends, I think. In Norway there's certainly not an issue with that, rather the contrary - pretty much every British comedy classic that's been shown on TV has had huge penetration, especially back in the TV only days. The good and the not so good both. Blackadder, Fawlty Towers, To the manor born, 'Allo 'Allo, Mr. Bean, Yes Prime Minister. Also, people like Dylan Moran and Bill Bailey draw sell-out crowds at big venues when they bring their stand-up acts.

I banged it top, as I think it's the best all round show from start to finish ever created and is insanely rewatchable.

However, it is a limited series so was torn between that and Sopranos. Could have possibly put Sopranos top in hindsight, ultimately equal in my eyes.

I need to rewatch Band of Brothers. It’s probably been 10+ years.

Can’t imagine watching it stoned

Perhaps Norwegian humour is quite similar?

Surprised to see GOT so high, but if it had kept up the quality until the end then it really would have been one of the greatest TV series of all time.

True Detective made it to top 20 on the back of one (of three) series. Just one. Surely GoT had more than one series that would top most dubious selections in this top 20 so far?

Strong showing from everyone's favourite animated family. The early days of this show are just pure tv gold.

Probably the funniest lines I've ever heard came via the Simpsons. Genuinely heartwarming at times too. Don't think I've watched more than a handful of episodes from this millennia though.

One of the greatest shows of all time full-stop. The re-birth of it via shitposts has only enhanced it imo and I still watch episodes to this day and burst out laughing.

I’m watching it now again with my kids (aged 8 and 5), obviously a lot of the humor goes over their heads but there’s still so many laughs in it for them.

Childhood nostalgia rules.

It's clearly not just that. Yes nobody watches the newer seasons but people still watch the best seasons all the time, just like with any show.

It's funny as a kid and funny as an adult for entirely different reasons. Something for everyone.

At its peak it was genius. There are still so many lines and quotes that me and my friends say to each other from it. It’s still hilarious too if you catch some of the older episodes.

Big GoT fan but I don’t think this even made my list purely because of how drastically it fell off a cliff. Was pretty trash from season 5 onwards and seasons 7 & 8 were awful, culminating in probably the worst ending of all time. At its peak it was probably the biggest series ever, but it’s legacy has taken a beating since.

Nothing will ever be so good, so wholesome, subversive, brilliant, funny, honest, critical and emotional as the first ten seasons of the Simpsons. Especially the shows peak from season 3 to 8 is in my opinion the greatest show tv has ever seen. I love the show. It made good times even funnier and bad times a little brighter.

Never been a fan of GoT. Even the first seasons I watched had already enough tedium dragged out to fill up time imho. Pretty soapy stuff most of the times too.

I'd read the books long before the GOT show and when it came out I thought it's mediocre at best, given the material. I can see people liking it so much if they haven't read the books though.

I doubt anyone under the age of 20 right now has any interest in it unless it's their 40 year old dads still sat watching yellow cartoon guy saying D'oh for the last 30 years.

Are we out of touch? No. It’s the children who are wrong.
