Victor Osimhen | out of options | goes to Gala on loan

Chelsea are more than welcome to sign him for £150m+, the price at which he'll turn out to be a dud.

So you would prefer Kane then, personally think this guy is worth breaking the bank for despite the fact he doesn't possess Kane technique

Who in our squad plays to his strengths?

Shaw, Bruno and possibly Eriksen.

If we sign him up we are going to need players that play him headers from crossing.

I hate to mention him up but I personally think Greenwood is going to come back and eased back in by Ten Hag - that makes Osimhen inbetween Rashford and Greenwood a highly mixed style of 2 types of forwards.

That maybe good or maybe unrealistic.

Either way as many have said - ten Hag is the man to trust.

If we were a small club like Newcastle or westham maybe but one of the biggest sporting franchises in the world
No chance the PR team allow that to happen

Add Martinez IMO. Martinez can hit some delicious long ball from the back if there is someone up top capable of taking it down. This is something we lack in comparison to Ajax where Blind, MartInez can cut through opposition whole structure with ball nice over the top to Haller. We saw Martinez tried here and there with us. One of the latest one is for Weghorst who failed to take the ball under control vs Barcelona in the return leg.

If we sign Oshimhen, then upgrade on RB should be the next priority for the sake of team balance.

I was hopeful a month back or so, but now its impossible. We need to pay between 120-150 million and I dont think we have that kind of money, unless we get new owners. We also need to buy a CM.

Most likely Harry Kane and FDJ are the ones we will be signing

FDJ??????
I want what you are smoking :wenger: :wenger:

He really wants to play in the premier league so United and Chelsea seem the logical choices due to finances....United the edge b/c we should be in the champions league and chelsea might not even get in the Europa League

however...PSG are going to need a striker so they'll be in the mix as well.

can't see anyone else that could afford him
No sensible footballer would go to PSG in their prime. They play in a mediocre league (similar to BuLi) and have absolutely no strategy interms of signings to have impact in the UCL.

I think most people are assuming Greenwood will never play for the club

With Kane 'not for sale', Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos £100m+, surely we should go for Osimhen.

His contract is 2 years so surely we can strike a deal for £100-110m.

Really want a striker approaching his peak after so many short term fixes. RVN was 25 when he signed so I see Osimhen as the perfect age.

Greenwood hasn’t played for how long? He is hardly going to walk back into the 11. He’ll likely he the backup no 9

The central striker doesn't necessarily have to be of a high calibre technically (first touch/ball control) to excel in a team that wants to dominate the ball. As long as his first touch is functional, then the chances of him being successful are good, as long as he has other strong attributes that will improve the team as a collective. And from what we've seen of Osimhen, he presses high, has pace/power, aerially very strong and can finish chances at a good rate. He looks tailor made for a team that wants to pin the opponent in their own half and his off the ball pressing would potentially help in defending from the front. And his pace, power and athleticism, along with his strong aerial game where 30 % of his goals have come from headers, would also potentially open up a variety of possibilities on the ball. A right back with the ability to combine, connect and deliver crosses, would also make signing Osimhen a logical choice.

A possession team that looks to dominate the ball with the aim of playing vertical passes at every possible opportunity, must have technically strong players in the first phase of the build up. And those players, starting with the GK and then CBs, deeper mids and fullbacks need to be of a high technical level or else the vertical positional play principles will fail to take off. Bruno Fernandes isn't to blame for that and neither are the rest of the final third players. I would say the lack of effective build up play from the back causes problems for the final third players. And fixing the issues at the back will open up even more possibilities upfront.

Literally the most coveted striker on the planet right now, playing for a club who are notoriously hard to deal with and want to keep him and who can set up a bidding war if necessary.

Minimum £120m, wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being nearer £140m. Which would put a serious dent in our budget for midfielders and defenders.

Can't help but see Kane end up doing a Sheringham in his later years, using his intelligence to make up for his lack of pace and mobility. It worked for us back in the day, but we had poachers like Cole, Yorke and Ole to work off him. Not sure if Rashford is the sort to make that dynamic work today (or rather, in 2-3 years).

Also can't see Levy letting him go for anything less than stupid money.

The more I see of Osimhen, the more I like him.

I hope this happens.

I personally don't think he'll kick a ball for United again.
i fear you might be right but can't help thinking that would be to our detriment, and also to him and his family.
moving him on would really only benefit other clubs.

Problem with strikers is that are obscenely expensive and Osimhen doesn't pass the eye test for a player that will cost probably £120m. Thats far too much to risk on a player with holes in his game. He might perform as he is doing for Napoli but the risk vs reward on him doesn't make sense IMO.

£80-100m perhaps, £120m+ perhaps not.

There have been so few mega money signings that have actually been worth it over the years that I am pretty convinced you are rarely making a good decision to break the bank.

I wonder if it's true that he's becoming a father, with the very same girl (H. R.) he allegedly wasn't nice to. Mind you only crappy sources are rapporting this atm. If true it might change a few peoples opinion of him.

He cost Napoli 74m, I don't see them selling for less than 100m

Its crazy right? Paying such fees for someone who isn't even polished. If we bought Oshimen for £100m, everyone will expect Haaland levels of output plus more, hold up play, running in behind, heading, shooting, pressing.

I think its way too much pressure on players when they are signed for that fee.

What do you mean polished?

He's arguably in the top 5 strikers in Europe right now, and with a such a shortage of top class strikers available, you're going to pay huge money for that. What's the other option? A near 30 year old Kane for probably not much less?

Wasn't a good chunk of that 74m made up of numerous players that went the other way who's values were greatly inflated? Seemed like a dodgy deal.

I think most will think he will be back next season
How would people think of this scenario:
A PR interview between Greenwood and G Neville.
A few more on GM TV and his girlfriend. We hear what actually happened (even if he did hit her), he admits it, apologises. Takes the steps to better himself etc. He’s going to be a dad soon. Really does make an effort to reform himself.

He then returns back to united (eased in) and plays into the first team being one of our best players.

Yep, they’re under investigation for it as well.
Thays why he’ll be sold this summer imo

If it was just Kane and Osimhen who were overpriced then I would have more sympathy for the idea of dropping to the next bracket and making a shrewder purchase.

But the reality is that players in that lesser bracket are also almost certain to be overpiced given the prices players like Nunez, Antony and Mudryk have gone for in this currently notably inflated market. A lot of relatively ordinary players from smaller clubs are going to get an 80m price tag slapped on them almost automatically, especially if we're the club interested. At which point it makes more sense to me just to pay the premium price for the premium options rather than pay a still quite massive fee for a lesser choice.

Compared to those Nunez/Antony deals, Kane at £100m or Osimhen at £120m make complete sense. Obviously if the club determines that a Goncalo Ramos or someone else is as good an option as them but for a lot less then that's different. But as is the assumption is that Kane and Osimhen are the clear standout options on the market.

Don't get me wrong, I agree he is in the top 5 striker.

Obviously, I wont sit here lying to you that I have watched alot of him, which is why maybe I am sure of his all round game.

Polished in terms of his ability to play in the PL where you have to score different type of goals, the spaces in behind are less.

I saw Lukaku kill it in Italy and come to Chelsea and was poor. Paying that much money, the pressure on players is so much that no one gives them time to settle.

The problem is the shortage of strikers like you say, you have to pay that money. I would prefer Oshimhen to Kane personally.

without getting too far into it given the house rules here, i believe that was the 'new information' on which the police dropped the charges.

If Chelsea don't qualify for the Champions League next season how on earth would they be able to afford him? haven't they signed Nkunku to play as their main forward for next season?

I'd prefer Kvarat, that kid is going to become the best wingman on the planet.

Wing is the one position we have no need for right now, striker on the other hand...

Kvaratskhelia will be Real Madrid bound when he chooses to leave, they've already started their charm offensive
