Zlatan Ibrahimovic

It really does, I just cant see how he will fail. Not too mention Barca have an extra dimension now - A target man.

They might have an extra dimension but they've undoubtedly taken away a bit of their directness. Dare I say, it was directness that got them that goal in the final against us, against the run of play.

I think the link up play could be exceptional though:drool: Here's hoping they win la liga and trounce Real, home and away.

Hopefully catch the European super cup. Dont think Ibra is quite fit yet after missing most of pre-season but you can tell that he and Messi are instantly on the same page. He might not score as many as Eto'o but the likes of Henry should get more with Ibrahimovics added creativity in the side.

Some of you are really overrating how much they linked up in their 1 and 1/2 matches together, it certainly isn't on the Eto'o- Messi connection as of yet.

At one point Messi played one of his patented reverse balls to Ibra and he even forgot to make the run, let's just see how they do tonight because against Bilbao it was alllll about young Leo once again.

Well considering Eto'o was already a first team regular when Messi was coming through and Ibra has been training individually and had about a games worth of time with Messi it is not exactly surprising. However i have little doubt that Messi and Ibrahimovic will play beautifully together.

To be fair it is always about Messi when he is playing well and again he could link up with anyone but there are promising signs so far for the new front three.

I wouldn't say they have lost directness either. Barca if anything have added directness with a target man figure if you will.

Zlatan is direct...

He will do things Eto'o couldnt do and most of the things he could. I'd be more worried about Eto'o in a Inter side lacking creativity than i would about Zlatan at Barcelona.
He's got to prove he can operate in that line-up without Eto's pace, finishing (2 in 3) or work rate. Big ask.

True, but he brings something eto'o never had. A creativity and an unselfishness. It is so early it is hard to say how great a difference this change will make, i think overall it'll make Barca a stronger outfit however they can't be more successful than they were last season but that would be the case no matter who they got in or if they had kept the same squad.

You need change in football to remain fresh and focused. He has came with a lot of desire to successed and with the maturity he has found in recent years i dont think a player of his class can fail.

Better than sex

Nah just kidding. But seeing Zlatan take the field with Messi will be a dream come true for me.

i'll be at my parents, i'm sure they wont mind me spending my quality time with them watching football. My dad will no doubt fancy it just a shame they wont involve themselves with Sky and i'll have to find a good stream!

This is borderline gay discussion but I felt the need to post this

just curious. do you post on any barca forums?

Well technically they could by retaining what they won last season and winning the additional tournaments they qualified for, they've already won two of them. If though, as is very likely, they don't manage that, you'll get legions of retards claiming it made Barca worse and that Ibra's therefore crap.

As Eto'o could do things that Zlatan couldn't, like be the best striker in the world.

He was crap last night no doubt about that. .

Heh. Must have been because I was watching.

He must surely be a good player because of his reputation and the way some people go on about his ability. It's just that of the 30 odd games I've seen him play over the years he has been useless in every single one.

But as I said earlier in the thread I watch all the Barca Sky show so no doubt I'll eventually see him put in a performance.

Or maybe a more likely explanation would be that he just simply isn't all that and a lot of people on here get very very carried away. Like you i have never seen him play well in about 15-20 full games I've seen him play in for both Sweden and Inter combined. There's probably around 20 strikers of the top of my head that i'd have over Zlatan. Easy.

Seriously?

he'll prove you and a lot of people wrong. You sound like Martin O'Neill and that is never a good thing.

:boring:

Heard it all before and i'm still waiting.

He did great at Inter last year sure but in the Champions League he was very uninspiring as per usual.

Berbatov > Manucho > Dong >>>>> Zlatan.*

*Ok... that last bit was an exageration.

Zlatan is better than Dong.

you're making a fool of yourself.

so a player who wins awards like fans player of the year at Juve and Inter Milan, who clearly inspires the fans of these great clubs (great clubs who have had many great players just like UNited) is worth less to you than Manucho.

I know you're taking the piss but it's such a retarded comment to make. It's amazing that Ibra comes under such heavy abuse. Did he shag everyones wives or daughters?

Eto'o missed a sitter, an open goal on his Inter Milan debut. They drew 1-1 with Bari a newly premoted side at the San Siro.

Where is the threads or posts lambasting him? I forgot his name isnt Ibrahimovic so people cannot dream of saying a bad word about him. Typical redcafe narrowminded insanity.

I was clearly joking about Manucho you tool, and i don't know why you're going on at me about Eto'o, i didn't mention him so why bring that up with me. :wenger:

Zlatan is hugely over rated and it's pathetic the way some on here go on about him and was pathetic the way some were desperate to sign him when we already have 2 players in that position that are better than him.

Yeah, clearly he was so rubbish he was Juves best player, so rubbish he was inters best player. So pathetic he is now Barcelonas new number 9.

I guess a lot of people in football are quite stupid, imagine 3 of the biggest teams in the world wanting a player who wouldnt even get into the United starting 11.

Laporta, Moggi and Moratti should be lined up and shot for this sort of gross misjudgment of players.

Never mind Capello, Guardiola, Mourinho and Mancini. How they are managers of these teams with such an over-rated player is beyond comprehension. :wenger:

Zlatan's technicality isn't as noticeable as other strengths that different strikers have. There isn't a thread blasting Eto'o seeing as he's always stepped up and performed at the highest level, whether it was due to his "average" colleagues or him simply bottling it, Zlatan hasn't really turned up in Europe.

Put it this way, Inter needed Zlatan's creativity more than Etoo's finishing and Barca need Eto'o's directness and finishing more than Zlatan's creativity. It was only because both wanted to move, that a transfer took place imo (and maybe guardiola not wanting complacency to creep in, so a mix up may have been needed).
