Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Yeah I see what you are saying, however I still think Berba has still been a great addition to the squad

In a certain way Ronaldos departure should free Berbatov and Rooney to form a partnership that could be dynamite.

My reasoning would be Ronaldo played very much a free role within the side, he was not a traditional winger. With Valencia coming in to give genuine width and disapline you will see the best of Berbatov.

I liked Zlatans interview, he spoke honestly. Told everyone about his conversation with Moratti months ago and gave a lot of respect to him for letting him go to Barcelona. He wanted this move for his career more than anything. For all the talk of his ego it seems he still feels he has a lot to prove and seeing as Ibrahimovic has been a success at every club he's played for i wouldnt expect anything less at Barcelona.

Also you have to take into account the character of the man, as a young player he was a bit wild, a bit immature but now he has really grown up. His maturity and desire for the game cannot be questioned anymore and he will give everything to make a success of his time at Barcelona.

Also to anyone comparing him with Eto'o purely based on goal scoring don't know much about Ibrahimovic. I dont know the official stats but i'd bank on Ibra having at least 15 odd assists a season but even then it is more than that. Maybe ask Interista because he'll have watched all inters games but i'd say that a massive majority of goals scored by Inter involved Zlatan in some crucial way.

I doubt anyone with eyes could doubt his contribution in Serie A over the last 6(?) years. But it's the third strongest league in Europe now, and has been for some time.

It's the level above Serie A that has everyone guessing. With his natural talent, if he does go up another level with Barca it will likely be impossible to deny how good he is. But that remains to be seen at the moment.

Personally i think he'll be a success.

The defenses in Italy are still of decent quality, probably stronger than the spanish defences. Adding to the fact that he is going into a settled side who play exeptional attacking football and cant really see him failing.

The defences in Spain are a lot more naïve than the Italian, if I may deliver such generalisation, and they tend to put pressure further up the pitch (which relates to their naïvety). Whether this will suit Ibrahimovic is hard to say, like our very own Berbatov he likes a bit of time on the ball (I reckon Berba would absolutely thrive in Italy, as long as he had teammates in motion) and I can see him taking a while to adapt. But then he's not only talented as feck, but intelligent as well and built like a friggin horse so of course he'll be a success. Who wouldn't be, with players like Xavi, Iniesta and Messi around them?

I like Zlatan, plays some gorgeous football, but never been 100% convinced by him overall. Spectacular deal for Inter. Have a feeling though that he's going to be a monster at Barca, seems like a perfect marriage.

Quite possibly the best piece of transfer conducted by Inter this decade. Eto'o will score goals by the bucket load and perhaps the 45 odd million Euros they received will be invested in some decent wide players. I can actually see Inter going for someone like Robben now.

I don't know about that.. Zlatan's a great player and all, but I can't see him fitting into Barca... They never play any long balls for him to collect, and he's nowhere near Eto'o at running into spaces and latching onto through balls, which is 99% of Barca's attacking play.

He won't fail, but he'd be much better suited in the Premier League than La Liga, and especially Barca..

I don't doubt he'll be a success.

It would be really difficult for a talented player at the peak of their career to flop in that side.

Undoubtedly. Their only notable weakness at the moment is the lack of creativity in their very workmanlike midfield. Some investment here would not go amiss.

who said that?

capello is in a fine position to judge him, considering he managed both players...

Did n't Ancelotti once imply Kaka is better than Zidane because he offers more of a goal scoring threat? You can not use everything a manager says to discern who are the best players. Zlatan is good but come off it

Who is using it????

Acelotti had a great relationship with Kaka, he managed him for many many years and obviously would say things like that when he was at the club.

It is no secret that Capello changed Ibra, made him more physical and made him watch loads of Van Basten tapes to show him what he should do. If capello sees Van Basten in Ibrahimovic who am i to laugh at it.

You expected him to score a lot more, you predicted he would score a lot more.
Rather I predicted he would score a lot more. I expected him however to do what he did goal wise and assists wise, in his first year at a new club having had no pre-season to speak of.

It's stupid to say he will be a success because you can't know.
Rather what is stupid and truly annoying is your constant need to see very opinion laced with a what if clause.

No, he was poor by his own standards. You can put it down to settling in I suppose but I think most people were rightly a bit disappointed.

I think he'll do very well this season though.

Why did you predict him to score 30 goals yet expected him to score half that amount?

No problem. For me just I honestly didn't expect a player who was settling into a new side, had no pre season with that side, & as SAF confirmed recently, was actually being played deeper than he was supposed to be, to do more than he did.

I think he'll do very well this season though.
Indeed

Why did you predict him to score 30 goals yet expected him to score half that amount?
Because it's a prediction. A prediction is an informed guess. While an expectation is more realistic.

I predict he would get 30 in all competitions if he signed for us because of his records at Spurs and the added fact we are a far superior team to they. Not to mention the fact I'm a huge fan of his.

But he came, had no pre season with us and seemed to be playing in a deeper role than normal. Add that to the fact he normally has a not so spectacular first half of the season. You can begin to see why my expectations where far lower than my initial prediction.

Don't understand that logic. If you expect a player to score 15 goals you'll predict he'll core 15, maybe 20 if you want to be overly optimistic.

Maybe that's how it works for you, which is fair enough. It doesn't for me. for me. A prediction is an informed guess that for me usually rarely takes into account mitigating circumstances. What I expect has to take mitigating circumstances into account.
