Zlatan Ibrahimovic

I'm an idiot, i've never claimed otherwise. I can't help myself.

You're a good poster, you dont let your emotions cloud your posts like i do. I have a few players on the same bracket, id say Messi is out on his own but that is just my opinion. I'd say Ronaldo is in the same bracket as Kaka and Ibrahimovic.

Well at least you can see that he is better than Eto'o which is more than quite a few here. I get the impression from posters that it is fashionable to dislike Ibra. I also cant stand stupid stats about latter stages etc... I judge a player on what i see him do week in week out not in the one game a season when a UK audience tunes in and decides to write newspaper articles and listen to Harry Redknapp or martin O'Niell spew shite.

Nah, that's not true though. You have more general knowledge about football than most on here, you just have unusual preferences - understandable ones but then I don't see why anyone would have any preferences at all(besides club bias), but that's just me.

And yeah the whole Champions League thing is very, very tedious. I'd be very surprised if he didn't prove a lot of people wrong next season, and I think he is worth the amount paid by Barca compared to how much Kaka went for.

I still wouldn't have him as being worth as much as Ronaldo though, but it'll be interesting watching/comparing them both next season.

He's been better than kaka. So kaka is and zlatan isnt. Why?

let me guess, Kaka was great one season in europe....

Forget domestic success, meaningless for Ibra to win titles at every club, be a key player in title winning Juve sides before being the man at inter picking up top scorer and player of the year awards whilst kaka struts his stuff on occasion in europe....

Kaka won the ball d'or. Thats going to put him and keep him at a stupid price for quite a while. Ibrahimovic has never won it, lets be clear and say he's not yet come close and time is running out.

If Kaka had not won it, I'm sure he'd have gone for a more sensible price. Like Ibrahimovic should have done.

Owen won it. You just got him for free.

A player is valued by his club and it is up to other clubs to match that value in order to purchase them. Especially when they are under a long contract.

I think all the fees are crazy, but Zlatans is no more crazy than Ronaldos or Kakas. It is a summer of farce transfers.

Me either, he isnt and he went for less money.

Did you read Tim Vickery's blog about Cerezo?

Sometimes players just appeal to people. I think most fans, players even have players they admirer more than others, certain players that you like to watch and you would pay to watch. I understand this seems unfashionable on the caf. To have favourite players etc but i've always had that from my earliest memories of football.

Ibrahimovic has been much better than Kakà in the past 3 serie A seasons, especially in the last one. Most people rate the Brazilians above him just 'cause he has delivered some great performances in the CL and not just domestically, the powerwanking over Kakà begun when he almost singlehandedly knocked out Manchester United in the 2006/2007 CL semifinal. Hadn't he played so well those two games, he would have been considered overrated by many outside Italy. I was shocked to here some people claiming that Messi couldn't cut it against big sides 'cause he hadn't impressed vs English clubs, after he scored in this year's final nobody brought up this argument again. This shows how influential CL performances are when people judge a player.

We got him free because he had no contract.

I'm sure if Kaka had no contract Madrid would have got him free too.:wenger:

You've lost me.

Ibrahimovic was the symbol of Inter over the past few years. He was a key player in bringing them the success they had and a firm favourite with the fans. He could have went down as a club legend if he stayed at the club and he will be a massive miss from Italian football.

The deal is silly but that is modern football and since Ronaldo and Kaka are with 80-60mil then Zlatan is worth the same.

And I've not read Tim Vickery'd blog in nearly a year, really should.

He's going to be presented in front of Barcelona fans shortly. The Big man is finally here, just when I thouht Barca could not get any more skillful.

Wow he is taller than I thought.

One thing he offers Barca which they did not have is a proper physical presence upfront. He is a defenders nightmare because of his brute strength. We see how Drogba does when he goes against the largest defenders, he relishes the battle causing them headaches and it adds an extra, essential dimension to Chelsea's game.

When Pep said the squad needed something different this is what I think he had in mind. LaLiga is going to be very interesting next year.

Wow he is taller than I thought.

Wikipedia says 1.92 m, others have him at 1.95.... that's about 6 foot 5.

Saw a pic of him swapping shirts with Ronaldo after Sweden-Portugal, with him absolutely towering over the guy who we thought was 'big'.

He's unique with that height combining it with the speed and strenght. Our Rooney would probably do with a few extra cm/inches. He's a disaster in the air :(

My exposure to Zlatan has been mainly through Sweden and the Champs League. A few nice Youtube clips aside he has never impressed me.

But I watch most Barca games due to Sky coverage so I guess I'll be able to see once and for all if he is as good as some say next season.

Why does he feel the need to kiss the badge or whatever it is? This is a guy that has claimed he growed up supporting Inter....

Am I right in thinking this is one of the rare high-profile swaps in recent time? Cant think of any between big clubs in the last couple of years.

Gallas-Ashley Cole is the last big swap I remember. The Italian clubs used to swap players quite often about a decade ago.

It is a historical rare swap involving two world class players, who will be better off is yet to be seen although Inter beat Ac 2 nil last night so it seems they are moving on already

Argghh, with this guy, Barca can cause more damage than they already have. Eto is good, but I think Zlatan can be better, and if you think about what Eto did, and imagine Zlatan surpassing that, argghhh, shit....
Ronaldo, it will be a long long time before you win something, sorry.

Really disgusting. Why do thing feel the need to kiss the badge so early? Benzema's kiss also felt sick.

Maybe because the fans were probably chanting for him to kiss it and it was the same situation for Benzema? Thousands of people come out to see you and you turn them down? Yeah right, just think about it further, it is probally one of the best day of his life.

Coupled with what he said about Italian football today, it makes me sick. So a boyhood Inter fan, within a space of a few days is kissing Barca's crest?

Maybe it's because he's a twat, just maybe?

A funny twat at that though it must be said.

It is not a few days though, he has known he would be moving for almost months now so why would you say that? He has probably been dreaming about this day for quite some time.

Also if over 70 000 people came out to see you in front of your new club, showing adulation, screaming your name and were also chanting for you to kiss the badge, you would stand there all sour?

I doubt you can say anything until you ever appear in that situation

You make up an awful lot of bollocks. How could you possibly justify that?

Wait, he has been telling Inter and the fans for literally months he was unsure about his future and he was even whistled by Inter fans because of it at the San Siro. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that his likely destination was always Barcelona. What 'bollox' have I appeared to make up?

Awful bit of business by Barcelona. Spending almost £40 million on a player who is probabaly not as good as Eto'o, AND offloading Eto'o as part of the deal. Madness.

Inter Milan must be laughing themselves all the way to the bank.

Or they could be much worse, because Eto'o was absolutely perfect for them, hence all the goals and the silverware

I still can't get my head around this. Barca have been mugged blind. Ok a swap deal for 2 players with a year remaining on their contracts. But 40million Euro on top?!?! Just not right. It's either fishy or someone at Barca wants their head testing

Inter have made the deal of the century

He hasn't known, Barca haven't made it public that they were after him, and Mourinho kept saying he wanted to keep him. I somehow doubt he's been 'dreaming' about the day.

Apparently Eto'o didn't have long on his contract so he could've gone for free soon or something so you have to take that into account with the transfer.

My sentiments exactly.

Someone just sent me a PM to contest it, but from what I'd read, Ibrahimovic only had a year left on his contract too

If he had longer, the deal makes more sense, even though I still think Inter are getting the better player

What I am saying is Zlatan has been saying he has been unsure about his future for quite some time saying how he needed a new challenge which was a good indicator that Barcelona was on the cards.

Also remember how Pep was saying he needed somebody different upfront. Along with that the talk of Eto'o leaving has been going on for ages, even before scoring agaisnt us in the Final of the CL.

Mourinho did keep saying that he wanted to keep him and he was his star player but one thing I have learnt from football is that the club personnel may say somehting different to calm the media and ease fans fears when they think something else. Some people say they are hypocrits or liars and some people envision it as thinking about the club as a whole when they do it.

It is no surprise that now Jose is not too upset about what is going on, accepting Eto'o at Inter with open arms.

agreed.

boggles the mind really.

must be something strange in the water this summer tbh. part of me is glad we kept out of it.
