Reports have it that Italian bookmakers have stopped taking bets on his transfer to spain....

Yep just heard that

The next few days will be interesting

Apparently, all that is holding up the deal is for Eto'o to give the OK to go to Inter

Someone from Barcelona (probably Laporta) said after this year's Champions League Final that they won't make the same mistake as they did in 2006 after previous final. They didn't make any transfers three years ago, because they were sure their squad is good enough to win it again. They were wrong, they didn't win anything in next two seasons, so they want to make their squad stronger.

In my opinion Eto'o is too important player for them to replace him by Ibrahimovic and I don't think it will make them stronger. Ibrahimovic is a good footballer, but Eto'o works fine with Messi and Henry, so I don't understand why they want to change one of their amazing strikers.

There are rumours it's all in Eto'o hands.

But he has just decided. He wants €13m per season and €15m after he signs a contract.

During the transfer window, a headline in a newspaper is enough to transform groundless rumours into truth. This is what has happened today after the article published in Barcelona newspaper El Mundo Deportivo about a presumed deal between FC Internazionale and the Catalan club. Besides being completely unfounded, the presumed deal seems remote from any logic, even to the eyes of neutral observers. The report is, therefore, groundless.

Interesting.

You can see some similarities in it, with Eto'o being a headcase and Deco and Ronaldinho the same, and they were the two main players to really fall apart after then.

I don't think it'd be a bad move, I mean they can't really improve anywhere else in their team and so getting rid of a player well known to have a volatile character is just a way of getting rid of a potential weakness, and replacing him next year after he left on a free would be a lot more difficult.

Well seeing as their midfield won't get any better and their defence is fine enough for their style, signing a player who will significantly change their style when going forward may be a good way to carry on.

In short, I think Laporta is mad in firstly getting rid of Eto'o and foolish to choose Ibra to replace him. Barca could have their pick of the litter at this point. Why they're not honing in on David Villa or Karim Benzema is beyond me. Villa would play more of a similar role to Eto'o while bring a bit more passing prowess in buildup play, bring players forward more than Eto'o did. And there's also the fact that he's simply a better player than Zlatan. Benzema is younger(the brightest prospect in Europe atm I'd guess) and has the potential to be a better player than Zlatan by some margin. A more direct player which would probably suit Barca well. And despite being over five years younger he's probably done more in Europe than Zlatan has FFS. I just don't get it.

Left back, central defence, right back cover, goal keeper, better stand ins on the wing than the likes of Hleb.

The 3 attacking positions are the 3 that they can improve the least amount.

Indeed. Shipping Hleb out and buying a class winger(Ribery) might actually be their best option. They could then move Henry into the middle and buy a less expensive 2nd option at striker. Would give them lots of versatility.

Hopefully we will be interested now that Ron is confirmed as leaving.
I just can't see Zlatan and Berbatov in the same team. They are simply too much alike* (except obviously Zlatan is a bit better at almost everything). But then again, it would explain why Fergie seems to have been putting Berbatov in that deeper role.

* Why does that sound familiar? :nervous:

Real stunned by £80m tag on Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Jonathan Northcroft

The overheated football transfer market is showing no sign of cooling, with Real Madrid hot on the trail of yet another exorbitantly expensive forward, Internazionale’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Representatives of the player met Real officials earlier this month and have also held talks with Barcelona, after Inter indicated they would be willing to sell their leading scorer.

The fee Inter are looking for is understood to be close to the world record £80m Real Madrid agreed for Cristiano Ronaldo. Barcelona were scared off by the price tag. Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s new president, must have taken a deep breath but has not dropped his interest — even though he has also signed Kaka for £56m. Real are expected to sign Valencia goalscorer David Villa for £34m this week and are chasing Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who might cost upwards of £20m.

Perez is budgeting for an outlay of about €300m (£255m) this summer to build a “spectacular” team and argues much of the money can be recouped. His motto is “the most expensive things are the cheapest” because great players repay much of their huge fees through increased ticket sales and greater commercial contracts. He also plans to raise funds via player sales and is willing to offload Real’s entire Dutch contingent, which has put Premier League clubs on alert. Tottenham are interested in striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, available for £15m, while Arjen Robben has been offered to Liverpool with Gabriel Heinze as makeweights in any deal for Alonso.

Ibrahimovic, 27, has scored 57 goals in 88 Serie A appearances for Inter but relations have cooled between the Swede and his coach, Jose Mourinho. Inter are unlikely to get £80m for the striker who, as the best-paid player in the world until Kaka moved to Real Madrid, also has hefty wage demands, but Perez could try to tempt the Italians with a player-plus-cash deal involving the Argentinian Gonzalo Higuain.

You think?

Despite having similar attributes, I think they play quite differently, and I think they could work well together with Ibrahimovic the furthest one ahead.

Never gonna happen, but still.

Would be great if Europes clubs played hardball with Madrid and waited till the last few weeks when they begin to get desperate to flog players off. Huntelaar, available for £15m, £8m is a better price considering Madrids status atm. He'd be a wasted asset otherwise, so they'd have to accept a lower price or risk him going stale in the reserves.

And thats only goals, his passing and vision is terrific and the occasional tricks are something else.

I don't rate him and he's unloyal bastard.

Tevez and Rooney. the double wing strike force...:D

Could be a fair point chief, i would love that.

But also the fact Madrid have signed Kaka and Ronaldo for massive amounts of money makes me think Barca will try a bit harder to land a big name or two.
I think Barca will have to. Because currently REAL are buying very wisely. Barca can't afford to be over taken one year into a remodelling job.

You think so?
Yes. Perez is adding quality to very department. He started with the midfield by getting Kaka and Ronaldo, he will add mayvbe 2 others there. Next will be the strike force by targeting Villa and Zlatan. Then will lome the defnce with the likes of Raul Albiol, Arebloa and Maicon.

Then dead wood will be sold. Perez is determined to build a team to capture that 10th champions league title.

Unbelievable, that's madness :annoyed:

Of course I hope the offer is true :smirk:

76,468,411.55 GBP for Ibrahimovic?

Wonderfully gifted player but surely not worth that much. Ronaldo isn't either worth 80 mil. These transfer prices are really starting to get out of hand. I hope no one else pays over the amount for the worlds best.

various sources have said that this is the price tag slapped on him!

Clubs/agents always talk up their players values in transfer season - no one (except perhaps City) are stupid enough to pay that much for him.
