Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Looks like Veron, probably one of the old Amsterdam tournaments.

That is a bit strange since I cannot remember Ajax wearing blue as an away kit. It could have been their third kit if they had one of course.

On another note, he is not far behind Lionel Messi for official titles won by equipe. He has won a total of 18, Messi has won 23, Cristiano Ronaldo 13 and our Wayne on 14 official titles. However, they are all a long way behind our very own Ryan...who has 36. :D

So, whatever happens, I believe he has had a relatively successful career in spite of playing for Sweden who were never going to win the world cup, and also for someone who was exposed as being a Champions league bottler earlier on. I believe that as he has aged, he has changed and has got better for some reason.

They've had quite a few blue away kits. Last season for instance, although it was a pretty dark blue.

I wish zlatan punched Barton.

More likely a roundhouse kick

Proud_Lyon, I honestly think Ibra's time at Barcelona changed him...oddly for the better...He's a much more complete player, imagine if Ajax coaches could've gotten him to come correct a decade ago

Zlatan's career has been troubled for the same reasons as Rooneys has. They both consider striker as their role and get frustrated if they don't get to play there. However it took them both a decade from their break-through until they actually were capable of bagging in the necessary goals to be an absolute world-class striker.

Zlatan has since 2011 had similar goal-scoring ratios as Brazilian Ronaldo had in his peak.

Yeah, because the other PSG players wouldn't have been able to get one otherwise.

Funniest part is that he added his name. How self-centered is that on a christmas present.

I must remember to only give Xmas presents to people who can't afford what I'm going to get them.

Tied the all-time record for most goals in a CL group-stage today with Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Meh. it doesn't compare to the £800.000 Drogba spent on bling for his teammates

Read his autobiography. Was listed on the Guardian as one of the sports books of year.

It's crap and an insight into how much of a mercenary he is.

For all the talk of Ibra's poor record in the knockout stages, RvN's similarly unimpressive record gets overlooked on here.

It would be great in a better team. We werent great in europe at the time. We were basically a group stage team that struggled in the knockouts.

I don't see that logic at all. Messi/Ronaldo/C.Ronaldo have failed to score 8 goals in a group-stage in way better teams than RVN and Zlatan. How is that something negative for RVN and Zlatan? Surely it must be even more impressive?

Would he do well with Jose at Chelsea?

Obviously he's better than any of the forwards at the club before any comedians pipe up.

I think he'd do exceptionally well. He's just what Chelsea needs right now, and Chelsea and the PL might just be the final challenge he needs.

I don't see him declining anytime soon.

For all you claiming Zlatan is a mercenary, sure, he very well might be. But so too are you, if a company came to double your salary for the same job, you'd jump ship in an instant. Football is just a job and let's face, in modern times and capitalism, loyal players are on a steep decline. When is comes to truly great players, they don't owe the clubs shit, everybody's got a family to put first. If anything, I sometimes admire mercenary players that are honest about it. Wanting to maximize your career in economic terms is no shame at all.

Aye, it's a lot easier to be a one club-guy if your club is United, Barca, Milan, etc. Not so much when it's Malmö FF.

A true mercenary for me is someone who goes to places like Russia/China/Middle East to play for mega wages whereas his talent could have allowed him to play for European clubs a little longer. If a player plays for several top clubs in his career then it's absolutely fine for me, Zlatan is exactly that.

Zlatan is ambitious and a sucker for prestige and the big stages, he'd never do an Eto'o and sign for a club like Anzhi just for the money. He left Juve because they were relegated, Inter to Barca because that was his dream, from Barca to Milan for obvious reasons, left Milan along with Tiago Silva due to turmoil in the club.

He's been playing for big clubs throughout his career and even PSG is a big club in France (not so much in Europe but they'll get there). Eto'o disappointed me big time when he left for Anzhi.

Fully agreed

Good point. Beckham and Eto'o are the poster boys.
