Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Insane player. Poachers finishes, flick finishes, screamers from distance. He's got everything.

The third was wonderful, but the second was lovely too. The second reminded me of one Ronaldo scored for youse off of a corner kick a few years ago.

It's a shame he is/was never able to perform in the big matches. If he had made his mark on more of those he could go down as one of the great strikers. He willl certainly go down as one of the best in his generation. You don't get many special goalscorers as him, manages one wonder strike every couple of months or so it seems.

That's not completely true though, as people who've watched him a lot throughout his career would tell you (and no I don't mean one game every now and then). He's scored in many Milan derbies, scored in huge Italian games be it for Juve, Inter or Milan, scored against Madrid for Barca in the season he was there, and he's tied in 11th with Del Pierro on the all time top scorers in the champions league. If you ignore the goals, sometimes in the big games, like plenty of other big players, he gets double teamed and marked out of the game, but there are plenty of other times where he is a handful for the opposition defence and has great games.

I remember when we played against Inter in the champions league, in the home leg where we won 2-0. Rio and Vidic could hardly handle Ibra that day, he looked threatening every time he got the ball and came close to scoring many times. Yet because he didn't score, you still saw a lot of people say same old ibra, can't hack it in big games. It's just not true.

He's scored in big games but his record in CL knockouts until an year or so was shambolic. Remember him playing against us at Inter in 09 and basically being invisible for 180 minutes.

A little more "wind" and he would have scored against us at Old Trafford. If I recall correctly, one of his shots went narrowly wide. But at the San Siro he was quiet as a mouse, Evans had him on lock down.

Yeah, I remember him having a really good game at Old Trafford and being unlucky not to score. Didn't do anything at the San Siro though like you said.

I don't think he had a "really good game" at OT, he had a couple of chances and in fact the one he missed was fairly easy and should have buried it. His CL record would always go against him, and he has spent his peak playing in leagues with barely any competition.

Born to play for United according to Schmeichel

:lol:I saw that. Schmeichel's a bigger transfer muppet than anyone at the caf! His shopping list as United manager would be Ibrahimovic and Schweinsteiger:lol:

Aye the keeper got lucky that he didn't touch it.

With Cavani changing gears as well, this is one absolutely scary strike force at the moment.

That was my first thought when I saw it . Crazy strike.

Do you think PSG improved again since last season? I don't follow the French league at all but what I've seen in the CL, it looks like PSG could really be a threat for the CL title and they already came close to knock out Barca last season. Are they the better Real Madrid, City, Chelsea right now, in terms of 'Galactico teams' ? Somehow I think Ibra deserves a great CL run (of course I don't want him to win it, especially not with PSG).

I would say definitely yes. Firstly the two major signings in Marquinhos and Cavani have made a difference. Cavani didn't start off well but has picked it up now and seems to work well, and Ibra is Ibra. Lavezzi's been much better than he was last season. And the CB pair is class. That's a brilliant spine to have and I expect them to comfortably win the league, despite Monaco being a threat.

There has been a difference in the quality of the buildups from last season as well, and they look like having more ideas than previously when a few times they were shut down by teams parking the bus. Having Cavani means that Ibra can play off him and show the creative side of his game as well, and it allows him more freedom. Width is still a bit of an issue. I like Blanc as a coach, he is decent and solid but nothing extra ordinary. I expect him to make the back 4 solid but on the other hand in a big European game he might fall short of ideas.

As for their chances, I think they can reach semis given they continue this form. Think they edge City and Chelsea on paper and not far off from Madrid. I agree that it would be good to see Ibra get the CL KO monkey off his back even though he has improved lately.

It really depends on how the key players do in that stage. Not just Ibra, the likes of Verratti, Matuidi, etc who have been very good so far need to step up against top midfields or else it will be Ibra or nothing. Though Cavani can also be a genuine matchwinner.

Thanks Aldo. The Ibra-Cavani partnership really should be amazing after a few more months. Cavani's workrate and Ibra's playmaking skill allow them to complement each other perfectly, imo. I'll try to catch a few PSG games the next weeks.

Phew, what an absolute cracker of a strike. The best part is he never looks like he's going to miss a shot like that, which would be outrageous even for anyone else to attempt.

feck me what a strike. That's basically cheating, to have a shot like that on you.

Was it against CSKA Moscow a couple of seasons ago he scored that absolutely insane screamer for Inter? Reminded me of that.

fecking UEFA block everything on copyright grounds on Youtube. What are they achieving? I'm not going to fork out money to go watch it somewhere else, I'll just never be able to watch it. Thanks, UEFA, for actually stopping me from being able to enjoy great football.

It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it? Like they don't earn enough money already, the fecking cnuts.

Ibrahimovic is a monster of a forward, the other day with the crazy backheel I thought to myself that if someone scores a better goal this year, it'll be him again. The guy scores the most crazy goals I've ever seen a player score.

If you're in the EU, you can go to UEFA's website and view highlights from all matches for free. They also do some pretty decent live commentary during matches, if you aren't somewhere you can watch it live.

Zlatan is Zlatan. Such a beast. He's probably the most consistent player in the world when it comes to beautiful goals.

Didn't know that, thanks.

Ridiculous strike.

It's even more impressive when you realize the ball was hit midair on the bounce.
