Zlatan Ibrahimovic

We can dislike Zlatan as much as we like, I know I do. We have heard that players have comfort zones and wouldn't like to move elsewhere because they might be found out i.e. Messi to another league. However, what we fail to see is that Zlatan has played in 4 different leagues and has won a great deal:

2 Eredivisies in Holland.
6 Serie A titles for Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
1 La Liga with Barcelona.
1 Ligue 1 with PSG plus a possible 2nd title with the way it looks at the moment.

Whatever we say about him, he has proved himself in a few different leagues with different playing styles and he has adapted very well to each countrys style of play. He has to be the one player in the world who we cannot criticise for his adaptability. I believe that if he came to the Premier league, he would be successful too.

Zlatan is ambitious and a sucker for prestige and the big stages, he'd never do an Eto'o and sign for a club like Anzhi just for the money. He left Juve because they were relegated, Inter to Barca because that was his dream, from Barca to Milan for obvious reasons, left Milan along with Tiago Silva due to turmoil in the club.

That's not that complete truth. PSG were not a big club competing for top honors when he signed for them. They were one of the few that could meet his wage demand. If I am not wrong, he was the highest earner in terms of weekly wages before Messi, Ronaldo signed their last contract or before Etoo moved to Russia.

Loads of ambition though and probably promised the signings of more top players.

They were in France mate at least and France is still among the best European leagues FWIW. I get you but I don't agree when you said PSG weren't a big club, with Marseille they're the only club to have won a European cup.

PSG were only a well-known club that won a European trophy. We could say exactly the same thing about Chelsea too can't we? Do you see a pattern? Roman comes in and buys big and gets the best and they start to win the league, they have won the Champions league. How about Manchester City, who were a big club, but no so big outside of England. However, when Sheikh Mansoor came along and bought them and gave them millions to spend, they then eventually won the league. Thirdly, you have PSG, who last won the league before the Arab arrived, back in 1994. To say that they were a big club when to be honest, I feel that Lyon, St Etienne or Marseille were bigger; is just silly. They really are the Chelsea/Manchester City of the French league and to be honest, if they had kept their original owners, PSG wouldn't have won the league for the next twenty years or so. The amount of money they have spent is ridiculous. Just for information, in 2009-10, they spent an incredible 16.2 million in transfers and managed to get 5.48 million pounds back. The next season (2010-11), they spent an incredible 9 million and managed to get 7 million pounds back. In one season alone, they managed to spend 147 million pounds, only to get back 2.75 million pounds  All in all, since the Arab has been there, they have spent 391 million pounds on players and only got back 53 million, which must be a record deficit. In any case, they, for me will always be the Chelsea or Manchester City of the French league; that is to say that once the owner leaves, they will be back to mediocrity and only winning the French cup.

I don't know how you could be so certain of it, look at their results in the league since CANAL+ sold them to Colony Capital. They even finished 3rd or 4th before the serious money splashing started. I'm not saying they would have been a great team, I have no certainty like you. PSG weren't as big as Marseille and Lyon, that I'll agree with.

City were never big even in the UK. Still aren't any bigger either, even with the champions league football and oil money.

You are missing the point entirely though. How can PSG ever be considered as a big club? They are the Manchester City of ligue 1.

I'm not, I'm just saying they never were to begin with. I agree, PSG is the Man City of france.

Another week, another brace for Zlatan and another powerful strike. He's the current top scorer of the league with 13 followed by Cavani with 11.

In his last 80 games, including both his country and club, he has scored 69 goals and assisted 24~. I can only think of Messi and Ronaldo who have had better stats than him in modern football.

Zlatan to Celtic? Imagine the kind of goals he would score against SPL defences.

“Celtic is a club with a big tradition and a place any top player would want to end their career.
“How could I say I wouldn’t want to play for those fans every week?”
Henrik was good enough to play for any team in Europe but after playing at Celtic Park it is easy to understand why he chose to stay there for so long.
No player would ever want to leave playing in the stadium for those fans. It’s a beautiful condition to play in.
“I have played in the biggest games in world football. But I have never experienced an atmosphere like I did at Celtic Park.”

I dislike Zlatan a great deal as a person because of his arrogance. However, as a player, he gets my respect simply because he wasn't afraid to try out various different leagues. He has scored in Sweden, Holland, Italy, Spain and France. For what its worth, I think he would do well in the Premier league and further cement his place as one of the greatest. What would harm is reputation would be to play in a two-bob league in Scotland.

I want to see him join the circus at Madrid. Ronaldo and Zlatan in the same team. Please let this happen.

It's hard not to like him. He's a character, not enough of them in the game at the moment. I'd love nothing more than to see him at United, all though I doubt it will ever happen.

He is outrageous. Just an enjoyable footballer to follow, although I still think his performances at the bigger stages have been mostly lackluster and that's why I don't put him up there with the greats. His book is excellent.

So many of his goals have been ridiculous!

What was he asked when he said 'Yes, i have to say yes'?
They asked if he knew of Cabaye before they signed him. His answer seemed to indicate he'd never heard of him.

Edit: Christ, I'd left this window open for so long I didn't realise someone else had answered this ages ago. :nervous:

I think he also was unhappy at PSG signing Cabaye stating something about Cabaye not being of the quality they need to sign. He must have read up on Cabaye on here.
