Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Samuel Eto'o worked his bollocks off over the two legs. He won the battle between him and Zlatan in my eyes, I said it at the time, madness to sell Eto'o + £60m or whatever it was. They should've at least have pushed harder for David Villa.

While on paper it looks amusing that Ibrahimovic was hauled off for Bojan, I don't think it did Barca any favours as they lost the one player who was able to hold the ball up for the arriving midfielders and full-backs. And his replacement's missed header was unforgivable.

players like eto'o and rooney are not only better strikers but also work like dogs.

players like the swede and the bulgarian are garden footballers.

the difference is, barca will feck off the swede probably whilst we are stuck with our disaster.

you are a fecking ijjit.

at least Berba offers us something outside the box.

I don't know what Ibrahimovic offers Barca, i really don't.

Yep thats exactly what Barcelona could have used today. Something outside the box :nervous:

 True.. but I'm just saying this guy offers zilch to his current team. Berbatov has at least helped us improve in our ball retention.

Strong language, but when push comes to shove, you always want the former in your side. A brilliant player with immense work rate will always be better than a brilliant player without any

I guess you missed the part where Pique went up front and was thrice as good. Ibra went off and it worked because it allowed Pique to play the central striker role. If he had stayed on they'd have got in each other's way.

Unbelievable that this guy was swapped for Eto'o, a man that scored 36 ( or something) goals the previous season.

..

AND £60 million. Inter mustv'e been laughing all the way to the bank !

It's amazing that he is being singled out for a woeful Barcelona attacking performance.

He's being singled out because others in that Barca team have done it time and time again. He simply hasn't in the champions league latter stages, he's also not really produced this season for Barca, people said he'd be AMAZING in a better team than Inter. Well he's been nowhere near tbh chief.

He had a poor game but was pretty isolated against one of the best defences in the world and would have fared better if he had got the chance to play with another forward. The likes of Messi also had a poor game and failed to deliver the ball to Zlatan but I guess they are immune to criticism and comments about not cutting it in games like theese.

You're quite correct.

But the thing is we're both teams who are favouring 4-3-3 and to be realistic about it, neither is really the right player for that. I think they both need to play in a proper 2 up front so they can benefit from a player like Olic or Milito running the hard yards for the premadonnas next to them.

All the best strikers out there are hard workers. They are big threats all night long and do massive amounts for their teams, as well as scoring the occasional brilliant goal and loads of other not so brilliant ones.

naturally. but that's the thing though. not only are the former two more brilliant but they are also hard grafters. the latter two don't bring anything to the table the former two bring. can you imagine us getting eto'o after 2008 or 2009. eto'o is still elite of the elite and i am confident he will tear bayern apart.

Frankly Vulgar must be crying his eyes out
I thought you'd be Boss, what with this now meaning that Magical God like Messi, not being able to show his stuff in the final
You're really trying hard not to come off as a barca fan recently.

:lol:Bingo, I think that might explain his posts in my Barca thread.

The part I found funny was the advert that aired at half time with Zlatan advertising a new pair of boots "built for speed".

He should have worn them tonight.

I find it very bizarre.

Pique only went up top in the desperate minutes towards the end. The tactical switch was Bojan for Ibrahimovic and it clearly did not work. After all, had Ibrahimovic missed that header everyone would have been going mental at him "bottling it in a big game" yet again.

His replacement also scored a legiit goal, which he as a striker, failed to do.

True enough - it was a piss poor decision.

Did he? Seemed to be a handball by Yaya Toure in the buildup and it was rightly disallowed.

Plus Bojan missed an absolute sitter.

Ibrahimovic was awful though - I think Barcelona may have been more successful against Inter if they had kept Messi up front as the main attacker.

Ibrahimovic didnt get himself in the positions to miss a header. And Bojan's goal should have stood in spite of the poor headed miss. Pique went up front for the final 13 mins plus injury time and showed Ibrahimovic how to play striker.

The Inter player kicked the ball into his chest/hand combo from 1 yard away. It was literally impossible for him not to have it hit his hand. And its not like his hand was hanging out where it shouldnt be. It was where it should be, tucked in towards his chest. Short of being an amputee it was going to be hard for Toure to have had himself sorted out more sensibly to survive the handball claim.

Agreed.

As with almost every time I see him I just think 'meh'.

He's a nice footballer, and it would be daft to say he isn't talented, but they've weakened their team and spent fifty odd million in the process. Plus I never get the impression he's got the stomach for the fight, which is what sets the great players apart.

It's still a handball. Ronaldo had a goal disallowed against Tottenham last year for a similar incident... Harsh, but the correct decision.

No it's not. There is no advantage gained as the arm is pressed in against the stomach anyway, nor is there any intent.
